    Any good bargains?

I picked up 2 bottles of oils, 2 oil filters, rear brake pads, mtf oil. Was a decent saving off the shelf price.

Got service done on my sister's Car and my own car. Saved in labour costs. So overall win win.

Neg all you want, unless you drive a crapbox, you will actually lose value on your car by doing own services.

        • +7

I won't neg you, IMO everyone has the right to theirs.

I've actually put that theory to the test when trading in, I've traded in three cars to three different brand dealers, and I've never given them the logbook, and they never asked when evaluating the trade in value. They pay what they pay, and IMO they get you no matter what.

When you take the car for servicing to them they just get you twice, 3 times etc.

Maybe when you sell private, people feel better if you show them a nicely stamped book, but not at the dealers.

IMO if you know how to and you do your own services, the saving will outweigh the perceived drop in 'value'.

          @ozf1:
Agree. Last time I had a trade for buying a new car, only 1 out of 7 dealers even asked about the service history.

One of our current cars has done about 160k kms, and for the last 50k kms, I've serviced it myself.
That's at least $1500 in savings on a car that is prob only worth about $4k.

Besides, most mechanics I wouldn't trust to change the oil without stuffing something up.

        • @Bacchus: Cheers Bacchus.
Hint though: do check your tyre wear regularly, and always ask the tyre technician to check your brakes. They usually do, but not always tell you.

That's another thing the dealers rip you off with isn't it, supplying you tyres.

I remember taking my Renault to the dealers at Oakleigh at the time(circa 2010), and a lady (middle aged), went out paying for a full set of tyres at the dealer. She'd paid about $1500.00. i went sticky beak and saw what she bought, I later did a quick search Dunlop's Sp sport.. you could get them for under $1200.00! And if you looked at other brands even cheaper of course but zi wanted to compare meerkats with meerkats!

        • @ozf1: yeah dealers make up a log history anyway.

  • I need a pair of wiper quick, can anyone tell me the one from repco good enough? 30% off is quiet nice for me

    • Repco blades are great, even the Mechpro ones work awesome!

      • Yeah? Thanks for that, i was gonna go grabbing a genuine one from dealer but with 30% maybe i will give it a try

  • sweet, I've been waiting for this deal. planning to get a set of front rotor and brake pads for my 2006 old corolla.

    • Gf rang for pads, nearly twice the price of same ones on ebay..

  • How do I sign up to become a member? just do it in store?
Is the 30% off RRP or on top of sale price?

    • +1

From memory you can even sign up online, and print out a makeshift card, until they mail one out to you.

      • Correct me if I'm wrong, but for this deal you have to be a member of an Auto Club, ie. RACV, NRMA etc. Repco have a VIP card that gives 10% off, but they haven't offered a 30% discount for a very long time.

        • On the ads in Vic it only says RACV

        • You are correct, I was answering the question of 'how do I sign up to become a member?'

        • They actually had this same deal 2 weeks ago .. But as usual my Repco never has ANYTHING in stock when the 30% if on

    • I don't think you have to an Auto Club member. Any RACV, RACQ, RACT, NRMA etc will do.

*30% off applies to full retail price and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount.

Edit: Oops!! Beat me to it.

      • RACV, RACQ, RACT, NRMA

        are "auto clubs"

so I think you are trying to say something else.

Repco still haven't gone online yet? zzz

    • Doing so will expose their exorbitant pricing.

  • +1

At 45-50% off their prices are getting reasonable, but they only do that a couple of times a year.
I bought 2 alloy toolbox's for the my trayback, $1000 each before discount.
    Australian made though
Bunnings sell slightly larger aussie made alloy box $650
Discounting is all just marketing these days

  • The offer wasnt for VIP Repco members; still managed to get 10% off; bought some 303 protectants for the interior;
