    • Not for gift card purchases unfortunately

      • 2 seconds too late. Just saw that, deserves a neg.

  • Does anyone have any actual experience with a 4k screen this small and if it is worth it if I sit a 'normal distance' from the screen (I am around 7-8 foot from my 1080p screen) or would it just not be worth it with this size?
Reason I ask is according to this site and others optimal viewing distance for a 4k 55" is less than 4 foot from the screen which seems mighty close.
    http://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/size-to-distance-relationship

    • No first hand experience, you're right though that a 55" screen from from 8 foot away you're going to struggle to notice any difference. Especially given hardly any content is 4k anyway.

    • To stream 4k you need A steady Internet connection speed of 25 megabits per second or higher.
ie not in our lifetimes with the NBN FTTN

    • At 8 foot you will not find a discernible difference between 1080p/4k. It's worth it at the size if you can use the resolution to your advantage (be at around 5 feet or under or have readily accessible content). If you're unable to stream 4k the downloadable/available content is lacklustre and honestly there isn't a big push for it become available. I would recommend going to a store and look at the TV at different distances to work out if you can find a real life difference. Make sure they use similar reference material at the TV's appropriate resolution.

Then check out OLED TVs, which is where the real change will be visible.

    • Save your money for an OLED screen, better dynamic range and real blacks.

Though it is going to get hard to buy non UHD screens as time goes on, but if you can get a 55" 1080p quantum dot or OLED for not much more you will really notice the difference over and above a LED UHD screen.

OLED with HDR is what I am waiting for and 4:4:4 (no chroma subsampling) … 65" OLED for <$3000 … trigger time for me :)

  • Oled is definitely finer looking resolution but they are suffering burn in like the old plasma's so I don't think the tech is there yet
But 65 for under 3Gs I'll have 1 too when they're solved this problem

  • Don't know how that button got pushed but I'm not associated with any company, retail or otherwise

    • My account -> Stores -> Click on the store and change it to none :)

You probably accidentally ticked the box before posting

  • Ahh my bad
Unchecked the box should be right now
If anyone is still looking at TV's, JB's just dropped the price of Sony UHDs as well.
Only thing is they don't make 200htz panels anymore so refresh rate is halved and latency is getting worse every year for the gamers.
65 inch still up there at 2.5 g's 55 at $1500 but can you see any difference from hd at this size unless you're sitting on it?
