FIFA 16 Added to The EA/Origin Access Vault (EA/Origin Access Sub Required - Xbox One/PC)

530

FIFA 16 is the next game to come to the EA/Origin Access Vault, and is available to download, keep, and play free (for as long as you have an active EA/Origin Access subscription) on 19/4/16. This adds to the fantastic value that the EA Access (and now on PC, Origin Access) subscription offers!

Download this by accessing the EA Access Vault on your Xbox One console, through the app, or directly through the Game Store on the console. On PC, access it Origin.

From EA:

FIFA 16 innovates across the entire pitch to deliver a balanced, authentic, and exciting football experience that lets you play your way. You'll have Confidence in Defending, take Control in Midfield, and produce more Moments of Magic than ever before. Build your Squad in FIFA Ultimate Team™ and experience FUT Draft, a brand new way to play.

Please no comments on if you're not a fan of EA/Origin Access / Xbox Live / PS+ posts, it's getting old - others like and appreciate them.

Don't forget to use the calendar reminder feature if you want the system to remind you when the game unlocks for download!

Access vault is probably another reason i should keep xbox and sell ps4.

I was having a chat to the wife about it this morning - if you were a gamer on a budget, the Xbox One is quite a cheap latest-gen platform to get onto - load it up with an Xbox Live (4 new games per month), and EA Access (instant decent library of titles, plus new game every ~3 months), and you've got a pretty cheap and decent library of games.

      • +4

If you were a gamer on a budget, you'd be better off on PC in the long run

        • Definitely. I reckon I spent less than 200 dollars buying games on PC and I have managed to get 200+ games in my library which includes many AAA titles (eg. LOTR: Shadow of Mordor, South Park etc.) as well as really good PC only titles and indie games.

I am pretty patient with my purchases though :P

  • How easy is it to cancel this sub?

    • Not too hard. Just go to your xbox live subscriptions and cancel the EA access subscription.

  • +5

Does this qualify as a bargain though? You have to maintain your subscription in order to have access to the game, whereas Games/Deals with Gold will add the title to your account permanently.

Surely I couldn't create a Netflix 'bargain' post every day they add new content to their streaming library?

    • How many times does this have to be done over and over… yes it does qualify, it's no different to Games with Gold/PS+ etc, and you're wrong about Games with Gold, you lose them from your account if you stop subscribing (you get them back if you resubscribe).

      • How come I've still got all my games with gold, even tho I'm not subscribing any more? I'm pretty sure that is false.

        • Yup, a family member dropped his XBLG sub a while back & he's still playing his GWG titles.

      • Wrong!! games with gold stay with you for ever!

        this is a subscription
lets list every show that gets added to stan and Netflix and presto

        • +4

Xbox 360 games stay with you forever. Xbox one games require a continued subscription.

        • @p3nf0ld: This is indeed true, I stand corrected on GWG.

"What happens to my Games with Gold games if I cancel my Xbox Live Gold subscription?

On Xbox One, you will no longer be able to access your Games with Gold titles if you cancel your subscription. However, if you decide to renew your subscription at any time, you will be able to access and play your previously redeemed Games with Gold titles again.

On Xbox 360, any Games with Gold titles that you redeem as an Xbox Live Gold member are yours to keep, regardless of whether you continue your subscription."

In my opinion, still doesn't mean it's a bargain though

      • I've never had my games with gold games stop working when my subscription has lapsed

    May I suggest an edit?

    Instead of

FIFA 16 Free in The EA/Origin Access Vault

    Change to

FIFA 16 Added to The EA/Origin Access Vault

It's not free in any sense of the word. People may get confused with Origin's free game promotion.

You could argue that on a lot of things… the Pokémon distribution events are not free because you need to have bought the game first, etc. It clearly states in the title that EA/Origin Access sub is required. It's free in that you're getting something extra added to the service you've already paid for, for no additional money.

Can't wait for Breaking Bad to come on Australian Netflix. I'll be the one to post to OzB.

Breaking Bad Seasons 1-6 Free on Netflix (Netflix Sub Required - Netflix App)

      • +3

I came here expecting a freebie but it turns out I have to subscribe to something. Agree with @Agret's comment

      • +2

Are there any games that aren't free in the EA/Origin Access Vault? Otherwise, 'Added to' does sound a more accurate way of describing the event you are posting about.

The Netflix analogy is reasonable - it would be far more common to say "Guardians of the Galaxy" now added to Netflix than "Guardians of the Galaxy" now free in Netflix.

I would agree with the edit, if only to give the perennial whingers one less reason to piss & moan about something.

      • +1

Pokemon are free because you didn't buy the Pokemon game with the intention of only receiving Pokemon over the internet/on cards. You buy Pokemon as a standalone game. The giveaway pokemon are "extra value" because they are time limited promotional giveaway as an extra to the Pokemon game and not a direct part of the initial purchase.

When you buy a service like EA access or Netflix you are buying access to a library they control the content in. There is no "extra" value because you are just receiving exactly what you paid for.

It's like paying for private health insurance then saying you got your dental checkup free, it's not free it's exactly what you paid for as an inclusion. Or for another example trying to say that you receive free online play for being an Xbox live gold member.

    • +1

Agreed. I was about to sign up, but then realised I don't actually have the EA Vault subscription.. It's just an addition to the service for those who have it.

  • NHL 16 and Dead Space have just been added too.

    • Yup, NHL 16 has its own post, Dead Space is a bit of a funny one as it's also the Games With Gold this month - you're better off getting it that way if you can, still a good addition though.

woohoo a free game I have to pay 9.95/month for!
    bargain

    • Or $40 for a year.

      • -1

        hence not free

        • Hence 3 new games every year for $40 a year .. its a bargain….

        • @ozyboy: still not free

Did I miss the news where EA access on PC has been made available for Australia?

  • Was waiting for this. Glad didn't buy on last spring sale from Microsoft last week.

  • i was playing this FIFA16 on EA as trial for last couple of weeks and then it was giving me msg that only 15 mins remaining in trial.
so does this mean that now that timing restrictions gone and i can play unlimited?

    • +1

Yes provided you are a paying subscriber to the EA access program

      • Thanks Agret. yes, recently bought yearly membership with new xbox one. i reckon both Gold and EA are best buys with xbox.

        • Yeah I wish Sony let them run the program on PS4. Say what you will about the quality of their games but EA are a power house of game production with huge dollars invested into their yearly releases. Plenty of choice available in the EA access program.

  • do i need to delete and re-download this game? it is not letting me play, tells me that my trial expired for this game.
