I could swear that wasn't there when I posted.

But I am already in my pajamas…

Just in time for Telstra download day.

    • +3

Don't know about others but although I was getting 4MB/s in the early AM, it slowed down to a halt around noon to about 100KB/s and hasn't sped up since.

      • +3

Wow. 4 megabytes per second on mobile internet?. My ADSL2+ can't even do that.

        • +1

Here's one I did on Nicholson St in Melbourne on Optus 4G

          http://i.imgur.com/jpVLMqc.jpg

        • @Agret: Compared to Telstra 4G on a non-free day, that is pretty mediocre. This morning before everyone else jumped on I hit 50/25

        • @The Land of Smeg: not really. Assuming you're talking about megabits per second or Mbps (which is what you must be speaking of since 4G has a theoretical limit of around 150 Mbps) then 50 isn't much different to the @Agret's speed. 50 Mbps is equal to 6.25 MB/s or 6400 KB/s up and 3200 KB/s up. @Agret is getting 5422 KB/s down and 2595 KB/s up. It's a 15-20% difference. I don't know about where your test was done but @Agret was likely in a high traffic area. Considering the difference in price between both networks Telstra isn't offering a whole lot more than Optus, besides coverage to rural areas. Again, this is heavily dependent on where you conducted your speed test, if it was a suburban area, then it could be argued that the tower had a lot less traffic and more resources were free.

On another note, how pathetic are the cable broadband speeds. There is not one (non-fibre) service that provides upload speeds greater than 200 KB/s. Optus with premium speed gives me 150 KB/s and without premium 60 KB/s. How can their wireless be 20 times faster than their line in.

        • @no not me: Yes you are right, that app had an odd way of presenting bandwidth as it is usually the measurement is expressed in Megabits/Kilobits per second rather than *bytes per second.

I got my speed on suburban 1800mhz tower which does not have 700mhz yet.

Telstra price is not so bad, today it was free- minimum spend today was $2. There is also another free data day coming up.

But paying full price you can get a Pre-paid 2 year/16GB pass for $140 ($8.75 per GB). Most mobile plans offer $10/GB for additional data over the included quota. I think that Optus is fairly similar at $10/GB for overage. I'm sure there are cheaper plans on Optus & Vodafone than the overage.

Still no contest to fixed line pricing (less than $1/GB).

It would be pretty cool to have a product that sends uploads over 4G and downloads over Cable/ADSL, but at the moment it is a fairly niche kind of setup and even using the data purely for upload is still expensive.

        • @The Land of Smeg: Sorry I prefer to know the actual download speed in KB/s rather than the 'overall' connection speed in mbps. I only had 3/4 bars on my phone when I ran the test but I found the result pretty awesome, it's the highest I have in my list except for some fibre connections I have tested.

        • @Agret: OK mate. For the record, I have had Telstra 4G connections go MUCH higher before. Not trying to be a fanboy or anything, and those outages that could still strike again at any moment are damn annoying.

        • @The Land of Smeg: "There is also another free data day coming up"

How did you come across this information?

        • @Roja: I just checked and damn I was mistaken.

      • Similar here. Currently getting 200KB/s down, 400KB/s up.

after i bought the above i bought arkham origins and shadows or mordor in two separate trans actions for free it said it was using store credit. but my account stated i had zero store credit. after those two transactions it stopped working idk where it came from but i'm happy $50 worth or games for $10.80 lol

        • +1

In the OP it says a $10 credit for using the referral link. So anyone registered in the random links are also making that with each click (randomly I guess).

        • @Phreakuency: i made the account before i even used or knew about ozbargain and i didn't put my referral link on here either nor does it have any referrals.

  • +2

Insane price for Borderlands 2 GOTY. On steam, 2K wants $80 USD for it! Essentially I got it for free with my $10 store credit.

    • +4

I already have the game but not all the dlc so i bought it again. lol

    • +1

They had that dispatch message there on the last deal but the keys came almost instantly.

      • By almost instantly, you mean at least 2 days?

        • My last ones came within hours.

  • +2

I remember a few people having trouble from the last deal with invalid keys.

  • +3

Club catch required for products that don't require shipping, ironic.

  • +1

    borderlands is out of stock.

  • +1

Just remember to turn off automatic subscription after purchase or you'll have a nasty surprise in a month. Lol

    • Where is that option, please? I cannot find it.

      • Not 100% sure because i didnt set it up. Think you hit menu and it might be in the subscription tab. This is the terms https://m.catchoftheday.com.au/club-catch-terms

        • Thank. I still cannot find out but I am now asking a rep. The only option I can find is the cancel trial option.

        • @Lysander: you have to do it via their Help Centre. You CANNOT do it yourself, nor can a rep help you.

      • theres an option in your account settings - Cancel Free Trial

after three games for $4 gonna cancel it once i get my keys

  • +5

Good prices but can't be bothered signing up for a new Catch account.

  • Would purchase but the games I want are out of stock

  • +4

    CAUTION:

Just chatted to a rep of Club Catch regarding the disabling of the automatic billing option.
She says that while it is in the T&C, that option has been removed. Now the only option is to call them to ask them to remove it or simply cancel your trial before you are charged. But that means you have to keep track of the relevant date.
We all know why this option was removed - very sneaky and bad business practice. Very unethical.

    • +2

You can disable easily via app.

Go to app-> menu-> club catch -> turn off auto renew

  • +1

well shit i have 3x $10 coupons on my account that no longer has a trial club catch.. went to make a new account with coles reloadable mastercard and realised after the fact that it was pointless as i can't use those coupons -_-

    • Did you get coupons for ordering something?

      • nope was sent them

  • Ordered Batman Origins then Alien Isolation. Great price! But no store credit or discounts were applied for me. How did others get the discounts?

  • Tried to get the $10 coupon (had a few games in the checkout) but did not work out for me. It would not show up in the checkout - I just cancelled the free trial and order.
Yes, it's very easy to cancel the trial, just look in account settings.

  • nice…alien:isolation and beyond earth for $6 very happy with that even if i have to wait 3 days for the code.

    • 3 days is ok. My emailed receipt for Civ BE says:

SPECIAL ORDER: DISPATCH IN 2 - 4 WEEKS

      :-(

      • pretty sure on the actual page it said delivery could be up to 3 days. i am guessing the other time frame is their standard for physical "special orders".
(and i'm guessing "special order" means dropshipped from china)

    • How did you get them both for $6??

      • $8 each minus 10 coupon/credit

        • How did you get the $10 coupon? Nothing was applied to mine, it went through as $14

  • FYI Civilization is out of stock.

  • Dispatch 2 - 4 weeks for me

What are the chances of not receiving my keys if I cancel the trial now and it being too late too cancel if I wait for the keys

    • Even if you did cancel you should receive your keys. Your ordered them and paid. They confirmed and took your money.
You were a club catch member at time of ordering so there should not be an issue there.
If they cancelled that would be illegal.

  • Just got my Steam keys!

    • Only got alien and shadow of mordor myself, still waiting on civilization :(

  • Just got all my keys except for borderlands 2 GOTY

    • CatchOfTheDay.com.au Pty Ltd has just sent you a partial refund of $1.46 AUD for your purchase.

      this sucks.
asked them in chat whats going on as i didn't receive any email about why.
they just said it was an error in the listing.
they gave me $10 store credit onto my account aswell.

  • Got my key for civ beyond earth and xcom but was advised out of stock for borderlands 2 goty and batman aa goty. Got refunded for them and a $10 voucher

Annoying but what can you do

  • We regret to inform you that we had an advertising error with the Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition (Digital) - MA15+ so you were still able to purchase the item.

We've attempted to source a replacement game code for you, but unfortunately have had no luck

I find that hard to believe.

    • Yeah got the same,

Seeing as I got the games I really wanted (Xcom and Civ BE) and the fact I was on a trial club catch anyway - I'm just has happy with my $10 coupon for COTD.
