Free: Google Play Credit Via Google Opinion Rewards

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Answer quick surveys and earn Google Play credits with Google Opinion Rewards, an app created by Google Consumer Surveys.
Getting started is easy. Download the app and answer basic questions about yourself. We'll then send you surveys around once a week, although it may be more or less frequent. You'll get a notification on your phone when a short and relevant survey is ready for you, and can receive up to $1.00 in Play credits for completing it. Questions can range from, "Which logo is best?" and "Which promotion is most compelling?" to "When do you plan on traveling next?"

Mod: Moved to free software forums, as per note on 17/3/15 on previous deal:

Mod: We have allowed this post as it does not break duplicate rules for a deal post. However with such time passing, we will see this as free software in the future, rather than allowing it to be posted as a deal again. Thanks

Nothing new. Been using it for years.

  • +13

haven't got a survey in 8 months now.

    • +3

same here. I suppose they have too many people in the category we fit in.

      • +12

Turn your GPS on and go to a Westfield. You'll get loads asking you to rate stores out of 5 stars.

        • +1

Yeah, that happened when I visited Crown not that long ago. Thanks for the tip!

        • My gps is always on and yesterday and the day before i was at westfield with no surveys.

        • @ryanj: You have contradicted your own negative vote.

        • @Jimmy007: revoked my neg as I took a closer look at the voting guidelines. your post is not a deal, though.

        • @ryanj: It will soon be taken down anyway

    • Check your privacy permissions. The app expects to know where you are before it'll start handing out surveys.

I find it goes quiet for a week or so from time to time, but otherwise I get a survey every day or two. I've racked up about $15 of credit in a few months; not much but it pays for the occasional app purchase.

      • I found this initially, building up about $20 quite quickly, but after using it for about 12+ months, I probably only get one survey every couple of months. GPS is always on.

Not a deal. You are effectively doing work for them / giving them more information for advertising profiling.

Should be a forum post IMO

You are not forced to provide information, You do it for money.

      • But you are trading information for money.

I could post other websites which offer money for completing surveys - but they are not considered deals/bargains?

        • +3

60c to do a <30 second 2 question multiple choice survey is a bargain to me.

        • -1

Well go ahead, if you think they are as trustworthy as Google. Then why not?

        • +1

@Jimmy007: You don't have to tell the truth, y'know.

When I had a Galaxy, I used these credits to buy premium currency in games.

The questions were usually "Which of the following stores have you visited recently". If you happened to pick the company that was paying for the survey, they would then ask how long ago, followed by rank the experience out of 5 (I always put 3). 20-50c then credited to your Google Play account. There were maybe up to 4 or 5 surveys a week.

It really wasn't much effort or much information. Alas, now have an iPhone so no more surveys for me.

        • @Jimmy007: You trust Google? How naive.

        • +4

@ilikeit: Don't tell me, you don't? Using android phone and having no trust in Google doesn't make sense.

        • +1

          @ilikeit:

You answer the surveys honestly? How naive!

        • @Jimmy007: That's a bit narrow minded. Information equals $. You really think Westfield, for example, is offering free wifi without getting a return?

        • +1

@ilikeit: What information? That you liked your experience at Coles?
If I could I will be filling these surveys all day long, let them take information about my experience at Westfield.

At the end, it is your choice to download this app. It is NOT mandatory to download and fill out surveys.

Was really good early on, now it rarely sends me a survey. I think I got about $40 worth of credit in total.

    • Agreed. About 18 months ago I used to get lots of surveys and had built up about $35 credit. Next thing my credit changed to about $12 without spending anything.
These days I might get one maybe two surveys a month, if that.

      • +2

        credit expires after 12 months

  • we need more surveys!

  • +1

Been using it since the start (when it was good) and it's basically become bloatware. Last survey was 3 months ago for me and paid 10c.

  • +1

it said no survey at this.moment

I sometimes clean the app, and occasionally I might also remove the app. Then I would launch the app (or re-install it if required). It then usually gives me a few surveys withing a few days. I also make sure that the app is always running in the background.

    1. Go into your application manager and find "Google Opinion Rewards"
    2. Select to "Force Stop" and accept any dialogues
    3. Select "Clear Cache"
    4. Select "Clear Data"

Optional - 5. Select "Uninstall" and accept any dialogues to uninstall. After uninstall, go back to the Google Play store and re-install the app.

Now launch the app and hopefully it worked (might take a day or two to show up with a survey).

Another thing that may be interfering with you getting more surveys is if the app is being optimised by your battery saving app. Go into your optimisation app and disable optimisation for "Google Oopinion Rewards".

The two suggestions above may not work for everyone, but I have had success by doing either or both of them.

Hope it works for most of you.

    • Would this delete your credit?

      • Your credit is safe.

The credit you have earned is attached to your Google Play Account (effectively, this is your email address).

        • Ok, thanks.

See you guys next year for the next post!

It has been fun catching up this year. See you all at our next Google Opinion Rewards annual meet. =)

  • Been using for a while great for free money for that app you want , if your paranoid dont answer the questions truthly .

  • -1

Probably a dumb question but can you put the app on an iPad?

    • App is only compatible with android devices :)

  • I have earned $40 in credit from this over the past year. The main questions I get arre about me visiting Coles Supermarket, and asking for a 1 to 5 star rating. If I'm giving up "too much information" to Google about this, I can't see it

  • +1

How is this a deal? Its been available for years for free (still is)…

  • -4

    Not a deal.

    • i disagree, you get credit for answering surveys

      deal IMO

      • -2

I get money for going to work…

        Is that a deal too?

This is doing work for money - how can it be classified as a 'bargain' - it has no start/end date and is a product.

Next people will be listing jobs on ozbargain saying they are deals :P

@Bearosaurus Considering it's been moved to the forums, it just proves you're wrong and I'm right.

  • I've made almost $10 in the last 2 months or so http://imgur.com/a/85YPA

  • I wish there was an official one for Apple

    • I wish that too.

  • Not bad at all
