320gb version only (see "pocket hard drives")
i find that most of the time you can't find what's in stores online with OW. I also do remember OW stocking these at bankstown.
I've seem these drives in every OW store I've visited in Brisbane.
To list a few, Bne city, Milton, Oxley, Garden City.. etcJust went to OW to get price match, and realised the price is already $99 on the price tag.
I saw this hard drive @ this price @ Dick Smith store.

Does not come with any carry case. So you will need to buy one if you want to protect it from getting damaged.
Purchased the same drive a few weeks ago from the cheaper Bing Lee deal. Excellent drive. Very quiet and easy to use.
Yes officeworks stock these, heaps more at Glen Waverley branch!!
Yes price match it at OW for sure!! get 5% lower than Dickkies!Annoying how fast these things drop in price really, if you already have one…
Welcome to the world of ever-improving computer hardware. For instance this is 1GB in 1980 vs 1GB in 2005:
1980 1GB hard drive vs 2005 1GB SD Card
Image: “Head Disk Assembly” (HDA) from an IBM 3380 Model J storage device from the 80s and an SD card that we carry todayhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_3380#IBM_3380
2.52GB capacity! Unless model J was somehow a cutdown version. I am very impressed though — it is quite small and high capacity!
Thanks. I love that.
Is this a 2.5" SATA II? Need one for my new PS3
Cheaper to buy plain drive, also warranty will be void if you open these.
http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=500GB+2.5+-…SATA 1.5Gbps / 8 MB / 5400 RPM
Cheers. Might buy from static ice so. Some there for 90+shipping
ok, silly question, but do these come in different colours? i have a white one, a black one & a red one, purely by chance, but i figure i should keep with teh trend and find a different colour for the next
no only in Black!
Just grabbed one from officeworks myself. Went through the price matching proceedure with the officeworks salesman only to find it actually scanned already at $99 anyway, despite the $114 price tag on the shelf :)
Wow I remember when OW dropped their price to coincide with Big W's Saturday special on the 320GB Verbatim… they must've done the same thing again. Maybe they're monitoring OzBargain lol.
www.onlinecomputer.com.au sell these for $98.
They are also still selling the Samsung 500gb for $89.95They answer my queries, they are not excessive with shipping, and they have a physical shop near Central Station with slightly cheaper prices.
hehe, yeah good if you live in Sydney maybe :P
Personally the I DO find the $16 they would charge me for Shipping ( based on their shipping calculator) to be a bit excessive for a small item like this.Fair enough. I was basing that off calculations for laptops and monitors last year, so I should really have checked specifically.
DSE at North Ryde (NSW) has a bin of WD 1TB drives with the same casing on special. I don't remember the price but the packaging was twice the size.
They'd be 3.5" drives not the portable 2.5" ones that these are.
Just grabbed one from DSE Narellen. The shelves were empty but they have bout 6 more out back
I got one today from Tandy Parramatta (the dick smith is out of stock) for $98. They were out of change and only had $2 coins left so the guy just gave me $2 change from my $100.
Unfortunately this device is very slow. It is teracopying at 16MB/s for me for my 215.75GB of data. This is going to take another 3 hours and 40 minutes.
Just picked one up from DSE Adelaide Myer Centre. Had quite a few in stock, but there was no price label on them, hence why there were still quite a few left.
This would be good to pricematch with officeworks and get a further 5% off.
