One of the few 16:10 (1920x1200) monitors available, while this isn't for everyone (DVI/D-Sub/DisplayPort only - no HDMI) it is a great price for just over $250. With Samsung 3 year warranty I picked up a couple to replace some older work monitors as they come with a Height adjustable stand including Tilt, Swivel and Pivot (or VESA mount if you want).

Will this connect with Lenovo ThinkPad E560 , if so with what connector? Thanks
I haven't used a monitor since the big tv box days. You can use HDMI to DVI or HDMI to DP cables.
Good find. In my opinion, once you go 16:10 you can't go back. The only equivalent at the moment is the Dell U2515 but those are $300+ refurb last time I checked.
PLS is just Samsung's version of IPS by the way. It has a few small differences though. Check out the older model's tftcentral review.
I was hoping the Dell range might be a bit better for the eBay sale but pretty sparse. As I was replacing my line-ridden Samsung SyncMaster 2443BW (16:10) I know what you mean about not going back…..
Keep an eye out at the Dell outlet. The u2515s get snatched pretty quickly though.
I went back.. I had an old Dell 16:10, replaced it with 16:9 IPS. Not sure what's so great about 16:10
For documents and programming I find the extra vertical space very useful. Might not matter for those that only use their monitors for general usage and multimedia. In fact, for multimedia 16:9 is better as it displays movies/tv full screen for those that are shot in 16:9.
That's is the sales pitch the manufacturers spread around when they changed to the cheaper cost 16:9. All movies are shot in 2.35:1 so u still get black bars if you want the whole image as intended, and in fact, the black bars for 16:9 content is no big deal. Especially considering the low quality source most watch.
The point is, as a computer monitor, 16:10 is more productive and fits the way gui's have been evolving over the last 30 years. If you were using the monitor just to watch TV programming 90% of the time you might have a point.
I have a 22" Dell 16:10 monitor that's 8 years old now and there's no way I can do 16:9. I've tried, but it's just not good for getting anything done on. That and picture quality seems to have taken quite a significant dive in the last 8 years from what I've seen :S
TN v IPS panel. For those who don't know.
Is this significantly better than S24C45KB which is only $191 (after the eBay 20% discount)?
I am guessing the main difference is the S24C45KB is a TN panel instead of a PLS (Samsung IPS). Also the S24C45KB looks like it does not have Displayport, only VGA and DVI.
Can that be fixed using a displayport adapter or converter?
Great monitor, but I need HDMI, wait…
why is this monitor listed as a business monitor?
Samsung have it listed as a business monitor (http://www.samsung.com/us/business/displays/monitors/LS24E65…) probably due to its lack of HDMI and 16:10 aspect is usually more suited to business rather than recreational use.
thanks espcookie - have been on the watch for a 16:10 monitor, they're getting harder to find nowadays.
Is this good enough for casual gaming?
