Dual Sim 32GB Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Black/Silver - $987.06 Shipped (Pre-Order) @ T-Dimension

51

Thought this was a good deal for a dual Sim galaxy S7 edge. I want to pull the trigger but I wanted the opinion of the OZb community first.
If somebody knows a better deal out there and if anybody can tell me about their experiences with T-dimension (warranty claims, delivery times etc) that'll help me make a decision. Still pretty knew at this (deal posting), so any advice would be appreciated.

Its listed as having the Snapdragon 820, i believe the AU version is going to be Exynos.
This is very interesting for people who like custom ROMS like myself, personally i would give up band 28 to be able to run Cyanogenmod down the line, it makes far more real world difference in my life.
Im interested to find out if its true. Most shops are listing both CPU types which tells me they probably dont know, it still might only be the USA who gets the Snapdragon.

    • Exynos is better is it not?

      • Snapdragon 820 wins this round

      AU is Snapdragon 820

      • Kinda disappointed I thought Samsung wanted to do everything in house

        • He's wrong, AU is getting the Exynos

        • @XeKToReX: Could be wrong but i asked them when I ordered one from Optus and they said Snapdragon.

        • @XeKToReX: I hope so Exynos is really good not a fan of snapdragon. Unfortunately I just read the exynos gpu is 32% slower than its snapdragon counterpart according to antutu. Bummer…

          @madn3ss:

Im putting money on them being wrong, ill be very happy if they are right though. Not for speed but for custom ROM support from the US.

        • @madn3ss:

100% only USA and China are getting SD820

    • USA and China gets the Snapdragon 820

      • It appears that is correct and that this is the Chinese version.

  • I don't want Edge S7 just normal S7 dual sim. Is it dual radio dual standby? Support 3G on both SIMs?

T-Dimension were hopeless for warranty for me

    • What was your experience? Could you share with us?

    • @Sammyboy
Can you let me know about your experience?

Multiple emails to even get a first response. Then the whole reset the phone etc emails. They weren't very friendly. Then it was you have to pay for return postage and if we find its your fault then of course you have to pay for repairs and to send it back. I thought all warranty claims postage would be paid by them regardless. The phone I bought from them seems to have a weak signal compared to my previous phone and frequent drop outs. They wanted me to take my phone into a local store and get them to compare the 2 phones and check the reception before sending back. What store is going to allow you to do that? Really too hard to prove and got the feeling that they would say nothing is wrong with it. Just wasnt worth the effort in the end. Wont be buying a phone from overseas again.

    • Huh? You clearly have no idea what your talking about

      • The SCREEN isnt curved! Glass OVER over the screen is curved, as I've said, its not the same as on galaxy note EDGE! The curved glass on s6 and s7 is a gimmick, compare them and you will know what im talking about. And all you noobs that minused me 👉👌 get some facts right!

        • no the screen is actually curved. the sAMOLED screen bends and you can see that by swiping slowly. even Samsung have said it's the exact same as the Galaxy Note Edge's Edge- just not as bent. but it's easy to make a mistake for those who are clueless

@zeckem: go and see both first hand and tell me whose cluless.

        • @drazenm: I won't even bother wasting my time explaining. I feel sorry for you

  • Most (if not all) dual sim phones can only have one sim operating at 3G/4G at a time, the second sim operates on 2G, you can normally alternate to choose which sim uses 3G/4G, but not both.
Does this phone have 2 sims operating on 3G or 4G simultaneously?

    • Why would this phone be any different? Obviously it's some sort of software hardware limitation

      • Because they might have figured a way to do it. Do you believe all phones will be the same and this functionality will never happen?

        • It mightnt ever happen without a dire need. But who knows?

    • The phone will do 4G/3G on only one SIM at a time, but the slot doesn't matter, it's a software switch. The other SIM will always run on the 2G network.

Also worth noting that this is a Dual SIM Standby phone, meaning you can't receive calls from both SIMs at the same time. There's an option to set-up automatic call forwarding between the SIMs to mitigate this, but that may cost you depending on the plan you have with your carrier and so on.

  • This is the Chinese variant so:
    - Has the Snapdragon 820 (slightly better single-core performance, better gpu performance (both from benchmarks), slightly worse battery life according to Techradar)
    - Doesn't have Band 28 (Telstra 4GX)

The International Dual Sim variant is the 935FD, which:
    - Has the Exynos 8890 (slightly better multi-core performance (based on benchmarks), slightly better battery life)
    - Has Band 28 (Telstra 4GX)

It's probably also worth noting the fact that the Snapdragon 820, being open-source, will have much better custom ROM support, if that's your thing. HOWEVER, if the 9350 (this phone) is anything like the 9200 (Chinese Dual SIM S6), it will not be able to run international stock ROMs, and the update timing is worse compared to the international variant. So if you plan to stay stock, the Exynos might be better, but if custom ROMs are your thing the 820 will probably be better.

Hope that helps people make a decision :)

EDIT: Found a really good article about the performance differential here: http://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsung-Galaxy-S7-Snapdragon-…

They'll be posting another one up with some battery life findings as well, so for those interested keep an eye out :)

      • bit too late now. I was looking forward to getting my samsung note 4 like last year. this was a couple of months back. I would suggest not listing items on ebay until you have it in stock to avoid bad customer experiences.

      • you have no idea how annoyed i was when my order was cancelled. it basically cost me my 20% ebay discount which was applicable at the time. If I had known you had no stock, i would have bought elsewhere. the response to my concerns was just unacceptable.

        • -2

happens all the time on ebay, get over it. happened to me as well. just with another store.

@T-Dimension Limited: Unlikely that will ever happen. cost me my ebay 20% discount which I could have used to purchase from someone who actually had stock.
