  • Can't believe how quickly my 225 got superceded!! Must resist!

    • Thanks, tho +$15 for express shipping which is still $4 cheaper :)

remember that rebel does price beat.

  • How does it go vs the 225? The Mio sensor was the best reason to have the 225, whereas this has Garmin's first in-house sensor doesn't it?

    I'm sceptical.

    • According to DCRAINMAKER, yes, the Optical HR Sensor needs a bit of tweaking (tho he is not comparing it with Mio).

When it comes to the optical sensor on the FR235, from my testing it generally works quite well in normal runs, though there were a few edge cases where I >managed to trick it briefly (such as the snowy hill descent, and the ‘Hose it up’ test run). Even when befuddled, it does seem to realize it, and snap back >onto the right track. I suspect like most optical sensors it may be a bit of time before it’s 100% spot-on. Having seen the progression at various points over >the past two months, I’m pretty optimistic about how much progress they’ve made on that front.

    • By the way, Garmin uses the same HR Sensor in their Top-of-the-range watch "Garmin Fenix3 HR" as well

I picked it up for 20% off at Rebel so this isn't the best deal you could get.
Nice watch although some have had issues with the HRM catching on to cadence.
I prefer my pebble as an everyday watch but still use this a fair bit.
It's probably not suited to the elite athlete but if you are just wanting to keep fit and are a little geeky like me then its great.
I still use an old foot pod for cadence too which syncs perfectly.
All the stats are very motivating for me.

    • wow 20%, when was this?

Got mine back in November but they have had 20% off watches since. Also Amart sports do the same occasionally.
I'd be checking if either do a 20% off deal over Easter.

        • Thanks! Good tip ;)

        • @dealspider:

Dont think u can get a price beat + 20% from Rebel , they will do either 10% price beat or 20% (if they 20% off during easter) of their MRP , which works out to be same .

  • You can get it on Ebay for 380 including shipping. (less for me as I had an existing 10% coupon)

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Garmin-Forerunner-235-Black-Grey-…

The HR is indeed a bit buggy and takes a little bit of time to pick up your true rate. It also seems like the watch needs to be pretty tight to your arm in order for the HR monitor to work properly, but all in all a very good watch. Happy with the purchase.

    • Where do these coupons come from? I've got alot of feedback as a buyer and seller and am yet to receive a coupon.

Is it the same as this one?

    http://www.highlytunedathletes.com.au/Garmin-Forerunner-235-…

As HTA does free shipping (Express) for over $150.

    • Yes it is. Great price. Thanks Rifraf :) Not sure if it would be possible to change the deal from original to your link?

      • Sorry I'm pretty new here and unsure how things work exactly.
I'm sure someone can steer you right to change a link.

    • HTA is a physical store so Rebel will price beat their price by 10%.Total price will be $341.10. This deal is bogus, sorry OP. Not a deal.

  • Went to westfield Bondi Junction and got it for $341 as well. They had to check because the store was in a different state (VIC) but because it's a physical store (http://www.highlytunedathletes.com.au/contactus.html) they did price match + 10% off! Really good deal, that's $128 (28%) off the original price.

    • Yes, it is a great price indeed. Even Hornsby store was a bit reluctant when I showed the price of HTA.

    • So if it's for 399 at highly tuned n Rebel beat it by 10% , how come it comes to 341$ ? 10% off from 399 shall be 359$

  • My method may not suit everyone but I went to Rebel Sport in Elizabeth (SA) and got it down to $340. Because I am travelling overseas soon, I then used the Tourist Refund Scheme, which will give me a refund of GST, $30.91. Eventually, the cost will be $309.09 for me.
