Not sure why this got reported as inappropriate or illegal.

    • +49

      Probably Tony himself who reported.

      • +2

Sir Tones would never snipe or undermine the Turnbull government /s

        Abetz/Bernardi however……

        • +3

The road to ruin is continuing under Turnbull. He killed the NBN and stuck the knife into the ABC when he was Communications Minister.

I suspect he is waiting to get in again before he continues hurting the poor and vulnerable (health and education cuts) just like Abbott.

Wait until you or your family need the hospital. The Liberals won't care about you.

    Any Bargain here?

    • +18

Better than RRP for a new release is worth posting for people who are in a hurry to read it.
Not my cup of tea, as I could happily live ten life times with no more talk of Abbott.

  • +30

dont need a book to know How Tony Abbott and Peta Credlin Destroyed Their Own Government.
I just turn the TV on.

    • +21

I turn on catch-up TV and watch it buffer and get stuck.

  • +18

Lolwut. Where is the bargain? They should be paying us to spend our time reading this.

    • +1

      I agree.

  • -8

This book is probably the worst piece of literature or "journalism" ever written. Talk about a one-sided story, the author didn't even approach Abbott nor Credlin for their comment, but has the nerve to ask others about them and then tries to flog it for a buck. The lady is absolutely dreaming if people take this seriously. Shame on those who do.

    • +6

Her husband works direct for Turnbull

      • +3

AND Peta Credlin tried to get Savva sacked from The Oz - apparently had quite a campaign going.

That's an extra FU from Turnbull, appointing Savva's partner as a staffer.

        • Thanks for sharing. I had no idea about that.

      • +1

I should clarify this (now that I know): Vincent Woolcock (Niki Savva's husband) is Logistics Manager for the Leader of the Liberal Party, and it's a Party position. Woolcock has held this position for every Liberal leader since Snedden, including Abbott.

    • +17

      Found the liberal voter!

      • +1

Nope, just stating the truth :)

    • +2

      @KaptnKaos

Not only has she not sought input from the book's very subjects, she only bothered to interview a selection of the former Abbot staff whose views supported her hypothesis. The staffers with a different view of the situation were not approached.

Regardless of anyone's views on the Abbot government, this is not what a reasonable person would consider quality political literature or journalism.

Sorry you got so many negs from the trolls for your comment, who would never let reason stand in the way of their political bias.

Now watch this comment get negged to the oblivion too.

      • +2

        +1 for defending journalism!

  • +14

Good price but I personally don't rate Niki Savva as very credible from what I've seen from Insiders and read from The Australian. I'd read Peter van Onselen's and Aaron Patrick's books about the Abbott government's collapse before Niki's.

    • +1

Concerta Whatsimathingy Wells backed up Savvas quotes about her as being 100% true - Wells went to Abbott and said your colleagues believe you are having an affair with credlin and we can't work like this , it was a private reason behind the leadership coup, it wasn't all about polls . Van Onselen has a great book I'm sure but Savva has been at this for some time and reportedly backbenchers are finding out via her book new things that they weren't aware of and have since verified about their own party goings on

I think most ozbargainers will wait till it becomes a free ebook, but even then probably won't read it.

How To Screw Your Country For The Next 30 Years

        • -7

          @2ndeffort:

This is a Leftie haven, you wouldn't find too many to agree with you here.

But No one screwed Australia more than KRUDD and the Communist Gillard.

        • @dealman: Yep I've just worked that out with all the negs. I am kind of intrigued about the personal attack though, I was trying to have a bit of a laugh albeit politically, not sure how I've managed to upset people to the point of being attacked but there you go!!

        • @dealman: so gillard is a present day communist or was at the time of her leadership ? what was she seeking to institute that would move us along towards communism ?

  • +4

Waiting for Kevin '07's Memoirs of a Hair Dryer.

A gripping tale of power, politics, and bogan love.

    • +1

      And budgie smugglers.

  • +10

    I'll wait for the porno.

    • Waiting for their Sex tape to surface..

    • +1

As per usual porno title will be a play on words of an actual political TV Show. This version to be named: "Commander In Chief……….of Staff"????

      • +2

        Abbott does Peta liberally?

        • +1

          No, they do Australia.

  • This is child's-play compared to Trump in the USA- lol…

That group is like a tiny clown-car where all of these Republican/GOP idiots pop-out.

    I cringe for the USA

    • +7

Reasons why some people are rooting for Trump:
“Like the joker from The Dark Knight, I just want to see the world burn.”

“I'm a young guy who is immature, a bit antisocial, and with no plans for kids or a wife ever. At some level, I don’t really care how things go with America as long as it’s fun to watch.”

      • +1

*Except, as they go, so do we…You better start caring right away & making your views known in whatever social media you participate in.

        We're all doomed, otherwise.

        • the world is already doomed, let stand by the sideline and watch it burn

      • Unless you are American there is nothing you can do anyway. Take it easy, it's gonna be fine. Maybe Trump will be next Reagan?!?

        • well he certainly has a neurological problem, he just needs the presidency

      • -1

The reason to vote for Trump is to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. America will suffer the fate of Germany if Trump isn't elected, that I can tell you.

    • US Politics is a bit insane at the best of times but I genuinely think a lot of support for Trump comes from the backlash against political correctness. A lot of people have had enough of politicians that say all the right things and champion all the right causes and are sick of living in a world where using the wrong term to describe something earns you an anti-social label. Just like here there are loads of people sick of being lectured to by the Chardonnay sippers and elites, sick of being told how bad they all are, sick of the self loathing and self hating from a particular corner of society. They prefer somebody who uses their language and tells them how they can be great again, why they are the greatest country on earth….USA…USA…USA (get my point?)

I certainly dont support Trump, personally i think he is a fraud and a moron but he has picked his market well and might just get elected, not because he is the better person for the job but moreso because he isn't Obama and he isnt Hilary and he isnt a Republican version of the same type type of thing!

    Exclusive excerpt from the Preface:

The Road to Ruin describes how Australia has had more Prime Ministers in the last five years than there are seasons of Sherlock since it started airing back in 2010.

Julia Gillard = The Abominable Bride!

      • +4

I thought that was Tim Mathieson?

      • I was thinking less High Brow and more Australian, maybe Ginger Meggs meet Hairy McLary!

  • -8

.. I thing there is a similar book in the making called "The Road to Ruin: How Julia Gillard, Kevin Rudd, Bill Shorten and the Unions Destroyed Their Own Government" .. makes good reading at http://www.michaelsmithnews.com/

    • I would actually buy that one!

      • .. me too

  • +2

    *country, not just government.

  • What's to know? Niki has been on TV all weekend telling 99% of the books content.

  • +3

Are books about politicians more interesting than the politicians themselves?

I imagine politicians as a cult of underachieving, unempathetic, narcissistic workplace bullies.

  • +1

Tony was not thrown out because he was bonking Credlin, both he and her were incompetent. Makes a good narrative for the book though.

    • * he and she

    • +1

He was actually voted out narrowly by his own party because they thought he was going to lose the next election and in so doing cost most of them their own seats in parliament.

      • Narrowly? On what scale

      • the vote he won by in the first attempted spill (with no opposing candidate) was ten points weaker than when Rudd first ran at Gillard, even though Gillard had been better off at the time Tones turned up during question time demanding she step down for lacking the support of her party :)

  • interesting

  • +1

Not interesed in anything Mr. Abbott-lated.

  • I'm sure i'll find a copy of this book at the salvo's within a month for $2. Next to their 100s of copies of Outbreak and Rich Dad Poor Dad, both much more worthwhile books.
