Might be worth clarifying that you will need a 14500 battery and charger that most wont have and will have to purchase at greater than the cost of the torch.

It takes either a 14500 or a standard AA battery.

Should have looked closer, yes it will work but will be nowhere near as bright.

    • Hi tryagain

      you only need 1xAA Battery

  • I just bought one, but don't have a 14500 battery. Wonder if it will work at all with regular batteries?
If not guess I just bought a useless piece of junk. ):

    • Hi Springfield

      You only need 1xAA Battery

It will worth with AA, but the output will be significantly lower

      • Any recommendations on a bright cree tourch that will work on AA (1 or 2)?

Only for short walks, quick use. Doesn't need to survive for hours…

        • I don't think you will find much better value than this for a single AA battery torch, It's just with 14500 batteries it would be significantly brighter.

        • Any recommendations on a bright cree tourch that will work on AA (1 or 2)?

your limitation is that a single AA battery is only 1.2/1.5 volts

your 14500 or 18650 battery is 3.7 volts big difference in horsepower.

If you want convenience at being able to re-charge these batteries you could try a cheap USB based torch added with a single 18650 battery pack.

Bah! "3 brightness levels: High - low - strobe"

I hate torches that have this type of switch. I just one that turns on/off.

    • Thanks for pointing that out … it's really annoying. They try to built in functionality which is more annoying than helpful. Some might like it - I prefer on-off.

I havent bought a cheap Cree torch in months. My therapist says I am doing extremely well …..

    • Hopefully I don't have the urge to do it again, lol
