  • Which Coles out of the 2?

    • +1

      Next to Kmart

  • I'm assuming it nationwide. I saw them on special yesterday at Coles Westfield Parramatta. Wasn't that many colours and size left.

    • Saw them today for $8 at Coles in Baulkham Hills NSW as well.

I'd buy a pair, but I dont get what all the hoo haa is about with Havianas? Even for $8 Im hesitating.

  • these are the same ones they had for $16 the other weeek..
and the same ones that are $3 at rivers

"and the same ones that are $3 at rivers"

How can you say they are the same? They're not branded "Havaiana" and they seem to be the really cheap type that is made of a light foam/plastic type material (EVA?). Sticks easily pass through them into your feet. They are diabolical on wet concrete, tiles, smooth floors as you can easily aquaplane on to your a*se.

I have both types and the difference in longevity and reduced chance of slipping is very big. To call the cheapies from Target, Aldi, Rivers as being the "same ones" is just ridiculous.

      • clearly i never took that much notice of thongs!

  • Just got a pair, thanks!

How did you get inside? The store (and all SA stores) closed at 9pm, before this deal was posted :)

I've never worked out why people would pay such high prices for Havaiana branded rubber thongs.

They are just stock standard cheapo Asian made thongs, the same as available almost everywhere at 1/2 or even 1/10th the full price of Havaianas.

A year ago, same product was available (without that fancy brand name) for 50 cents a pair: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/179379

Obviously Havaianas are to thongs what bottled water is to water.

I find Havaiana's last way longer than other thongs I've worn in the past. I still have pairs from more than 5 years back and they're still going strong, where as cheaper alternatives I've purchased tend to last less than 3-4 months before the toe post pops out, it's really a pain in the butt when it happens.

Are your 5yo thongs basically thin as paper on the heel and black (from dirt and grime)? I've seen people were those thongs, claim its the best thongs ever as the post hasnt popped, but looking at their disgusting black dirty worn out thongs makes me barf- majority of these people have gross dry scaly feet too. Barf. Rather get a new cheapie pair every year/few months.

Actually they're perfectly fine as we only wear them during the hotter months when we go to the beach and pool and for our backyard, they're not great for you feet if you wear them on the regular. I think I would know to replace them if they were "paper thin" and uncomfortable to wear, that's not exactly what I would call "good quality". Also, you do know thongs can be cleaned right?

It's great that you prefer cheaper options that you can replace with new ones. I don't understand your hostility towards people like me who prefer a better quality product that lasts and creates less waste in our wastelands.

For the record I was not the person who down voted Ilama. I respect everyones choices and preferences, I was simply responding to their question of why people would rather pay a premium on these. No need for the prejudice.

When I say "I've seen people wear (I know I made a typo) those thongs", I mean people in general that I've seen on the streets, not you directly. If you're not one of those people, then you're not one of those people and you don't need to put yourself under that umbrella. Nor am I questioning your capability to know when to replace them. Yes you can clean them, but can you really turn a worn dirty white thong or even sneakers into sparkly white again (like new)? Thongs are very porous too.

FYI, I do own a couple of Havis and an Ipanema. I also have own a couple of $2 ones, most recently (unavoidably) a pair from CottonOn/Rubi Shoes (though for $7, but no doubt high marked up). I don't wear them 24/7 and I dont weight 300kg so mine are still fine, still flat and no pop ups.

My comment was regarding people who do wear them 24/7 for years and years and don't replace them when they're far from repairable/cleanable. No need to take it so personally

        • Are your 5yo thongs basically thin as paper on the heel

That's when they are the absolutely most comfortable state. Thongs are considered properly worn-in when they look like a pair of orthotics.

Nothing is less comfortable of your feet than brand new thongs that feel like stiff slabs of flat rubber.

looking at their disgusting black dirty worn out thongs makes me barf

You mean WORN IN thongs. They are only worn out when they break.

Personally I only wear black thongs, just so that I don't offend the overly sensitive souls like yourself.

I prefer the "surfie" style that has the wide fabric straps. They are infinitely more comfortable than those Havaiana's and other cheapo rubber crap. Those ones are a lot more absorbent too, which makes for a better grip when wet, and they also develop a far more intense aroma than the full rubber ones.

        • Well if you think something like this is good for your feet.

Tell me if you find this sexy and cleanable! Ughh
