I miss the frequent flyer rewards :(

You can now elect to receive Qantas points instead of Woolies Dollars.

$10 Woolworths dollars = 870 frequent flyer points.

I stopped shopping at Woolworths ever since they changed to this moronic new points system. Basically after having spent over $1000 at worthworths I had a grand total of $1.80 woolworths dollars. So about 6 grand spend at woolworths inflated prices for me to earn 870 FFP. never though I would see a scheme that made flybuys look attractive.

        • Check your emails for any offers. Got $15 Woolies Dollars last week for a $85 spend, will do the same again this week and seems like there is a bonus week following where you get $30 WD for an $85 spend. May be a targeted offer?

Pay with Wish gift card and used CashRewards for additional discount.

How many australian dollars is 870 QFF points worth?

        • Depending on how you use them they are worth between .5 of a cents on the low end and 3 cents on the high end. so somewhere between $4.35 and $26. basically even at the high end you will have paid far more than their actual value due to woolies higher prices.

I could probably save(read reward) 5 dollars by buying from the local fruit market.

There, "Fresh" might mean what it used to, not "Maybe 1 year old but hasn't quite been frozen".

      • +1

If I'm walking past the fruit/veg shop in the local shopping centre near closing time, I see them packing up many of the shelves onto trolleys to put in the fridge overnight. Keeps it fresher and also reduces the chance that stock stays at the bottom of the shelf for too long. Quite a contrast to what I see in Coles and Woolworths.

  • 10% "discount" hits the front page? That's disappointing.

    • I know it doesn't seem like much, but it's 10% on something that usually wouldn't be discounted at all.

If you buy lots of fruit and veg from Woolworths you could split your transactions into $10 lots and pick up 10% on each transaction.

      • Fruit & Veg do go on special. Also reduced to clear. Both at discounts more than 10%.

        • +1

Yes, but it's hard to get anything further on these discounts or specials using a loyalty program offer.

        • @pointscrazy: Yes, because the loyalty program offer is now rubbish.

Unfortunately fruit and veg is not as sexy as tim tams/chips/cola half price. Also margins are much higher on addictive junk food.

    • +1

So how many 5 and 7.5% off gift card specials have we seen on the front page?

      • 7.5% off everything is great as a payment method. 5% is the every day norm.

I was really disappointed at woollies the other day.. Bought a box of raspberry for $3.50 where a fruit store 300 meters away was selling them for 2 for $2. Didn't get a receipt as the message fast.. so i couldn't get a refund.

    • You don't need a receipt to get a refund for items under $15

    Raspberries 2 for $2?

    Worthy of an ozb post!

    • Raspberries that cheap, might make you cringe to think they have mold growing at bottom on punnet.

  • +1

Their fruits are way overpriced, I often see some fruits being twice the price of the market near by. I don't even bother.

  • +1

is this $1 for every $10 spent or just $1 for $10 or more?

    • I believe it's $1 for $10 per transaction. As I've mentioned above, if you want over $20 of fruit and veg, make 2 transactions.

  • I assume its just available once, not multiple times during the promotional period

Page 25 says, "offer available on every shop between 2 March 2016 and 22 March 2016". My understanding of this is that each member can take up the offer multiple times.

Oh nice thanks heaps for that :)

I have always found fruit and veg at Woolies to be on the more expensive side, even compared to a green grocer. If there is a market near you, you can get a greater deal, save more than $1 in $10.

    • Yeah probably agree, Woolies does seem more exp that Coles imo

  • Can you buy Opal topup with Woolworths dollars, anyone?

    • Are there any exclusions for Woolworths Dollars?

    • +1

yes you can, that's what i primarily use it for.

  • Ever since they got the system sorted and stopped giving out ludicrous amounts of "Woolworth's dollars" it's not even been worth considering.

  • I bought the snack pots nuts 2 for $10 and pretty sure I got the 1 WOW dollar.

  • I was activating a targeted offer today and noticed that the fruit and vegetables offer has been extended until the end of April.

This is great as it means I can earn even more Woolworths Dollars during my Easter shopping. I wonder how many $10 transactions of fruit and veg purchases I can do in one day.

Just been to wollies tonight and there are signs up saying this is an ongoing offer untill further notice.

    • I figured this might be the long term plan. I think it's a good idea. I haven't actually taken it up yet but I intend to do this in the future.

  • +1

packs of nuts that you find in the fruit & veggie section seem to be included as well
