  • Purchased it not long ago from TGG and have to say that i absolutely hate it. Every few minutes there is a pop up about something. I like Bitdefender a lot better than this but that's just my personal opinion.

    • Agreed, Bitdefender gives so much less notifications that sometimes I can't even remember it's there.

      • I have tried BitDefender but it is ridiculous program. I wish it gave at least some alert. When it detects something it deems bad it just instantly delete it, there's no notification, no way to click 'restore & exclude' or 'allow'. The only way to get your file back is to dig through some obscure event log and restore it there. The program has a quarantine feature but it's difficult to get to through the UI and actually does nothing unless you go into the options and tell the anti virus to enable quarantine. Even when something is in quarantine there is a restore button and when you click it then it will restore your file and instantly quarantine it again. You have to go into exceptions and exclude the entire folder it's in then restore it again and pray it doesn't auto nuke it once more.

It's such a frustrating program to deal with whenever it detects something falsely. Drives me insane! Even though I put M:\SteamApps\ folder in my excludes it constantly deleted the black ops 2 zombies exe file because it thought it was a virus. It was within the exclusion folder so i'm not sure why it kept doing it =/

Another thing is when Call of Duty Black Ops 3 had a free weekend if you had BitDefender installed you couldn't even play it, the game got stuck trying to download the online config because BitDefender firewall blocked it. Even if you completely turn off the firewall in the settings it kept blocking it. Only fix was to uninstall the program entirely, launch Black Ops 3 to download the multiplayer config then reinstall the software. Whenever an update to the config happened you must perform this dance again.

I cannot recommend BitDefender to anyone, sorry. I have no faith in a product that cannot get even the basics of anti-virus protection correct.

    • I agree that it's annoying, but you do have the option to turn that particular notification off - it won't disable notifications, it will just stop notifying you of the same thing.

    Thanks, this will do nicely.
Been running KIS for a few years now, never had any issues.
Always runs transparently in the background, not bothered by any popups, like my previous symmantec virus scanner.
If you're getting constant pop-ups, you need to start looking at the notification settings.

  • This is pretty normal pricing from them. I got this last week at this price. Don't forget to add $.0.38 for cc surcharge.

  • Can I use the three PC's 2 year license for one PC and 6 years? Genuine query

    • No.

      • How long do we have to activate the licences before they expire?

        • No idea, we get the keys in bulk for Total Security at work, we've been going through our current batch since about November and they're all good so far so you've got at least three months.

    • Nah the license is concurrent. The one license key gets activated 3 times.

  • which is better Kaspersky vs ESET?

According to the PCMag reviews (which I like because their reviewer of security software gives them all a thorough testing), Eset Smart Security has good antivirus, antiphishing and antispam but had an unusual performance impact, while Kaspersky Internet Security got an Editor's Choice and was labelled as having no weak links and all components doing a fine job.

(note if you follow those links, click one, scroll to the bottom and select PCMag USA and then click the link here again, they have some weirdness that redirects you to the Australian version which is missing a good portion of the content and formatting)

Having used Smart Security I can't complain too much about it, it does its job and I've had no real issues with it apart from some popups that tell me that a connection to a dodgy site has been terminated but not told me where this connection originated from (e.g. what browser window or tab). If you use Kaspersky, disable Safe Money - it causes more problems than it solves I have found.

When I first heard about ESET and Kaspersky, Kaspersky was the resource heavy yet robust antivirus program and NOD32 was the light yet well performing antivirus. It was back in 2000s so yeah. People used to recommend ESET over Kaspersky because of that (on laptops at least). Just found it slightly ironic that the table has turned.

I did hear that Kaspersky did manage to become less resource intense as it used to, I think from what I've seen with my laptop/tablet, it's not as bad as it used to be.

      • Regarding Safe Money, can you elaborate further?
For me Safe Money crashes my laptop when used, no joke, for what ever reason it would just restart my laptop(Windows10)
So I cant even use it, weird… What other problems are you having with Safe Money?

        • We found that for some banks it would cause browsers to throw certificate errors and strange errors on some credit card forms. In the case of BankSA Business Banking, break it entirely (which, in fairness, is not hard - it's some weirdass Java thing).

Also, the add-in I believe is not signed for newer versions of Firefox which means it's kinda useless if that's your browser of choice.

  • Seems all the prices have creeped up. It is now showing $20.57

  • How does one download the Total Security for Mac? There isnt a download link in the Kaspersky website even though it says multi-device, its just for pc and that wont run on a Mac.The Internet Security Is there to be downloaded but saveonit dont sell the Mac versions ;(

Anyone know where I can download the Total Security?

    • Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Internet Security is all you can get for Mac or it goes by key because Mac protection is limited compared with the PC version and the key should work?, shall look further into it myself but always ask before you buy.

        From Kaspersky themselves,

Thank you for contacting Kaspersky Lab Technical Support, The latest version for MAC is Kaspersky Internet Security For MAC which is included inside your Multi-Device Bundle so, please download Kaspersky Internet Security For MAC and activate it using the same Activation code.

Ahh cheers for that, guess I'll just buy the multi device Total Security bundle even though I only need 1 for Mac.
Still heaps cheaper than elsewhere for just the 1 device for 1 yr.

They make it so confusing calling it Total Security only for us to figure out there is no Total Security for Mac, instead its Internet Security…

  • I love ESET, you set it to your liking and boom it goes off and works like a charm, no issues.

When I tried kaspersky, before buying a year of ESET, it was to system heavy and made start up crawl. Also add 'Safe Money' was a waste of time, never worked for me, when I tried always came up with 'not fully protected, extension disabled' and went no where, though I installed and turned the extension on and went into kaspersky and changed all the settings plus added my bank. The only versions I've seen this working on personally is Avast and Norton.
