I generally don't trust VPN's that offer life time subscriptions. It either means they don't expect to survive much longer or that they'll eventually cut it down to less than lifetime.

  • might be the difference of using the term lifetime …… lifetime of the technology or provider vs as long as you live ……
running vpn and dns is a more lucrative business than running hosting and providing storage.
but yes probably not the sort of product you hand down to your children as part of an inheritance.
you would need to work out what the average life expectancy of the vpn provider is and if you get your value out of it.
you don't need to many subscribers to make a viable business.

I'm surprised there aren't more school kids setting them up and selling them to class mates or their relatives wanting to watch Netflix from the USA.

  • Seems StackSocial have a number of deals regarding lifetime VPN subs.

yep all seem as dodgey as each other. Lifetime doesn't make enconomical sense (ie servers & bandwidth cost on a monthly basis). If you're looking for something where speed doesn't matter, then they're probbaly good value if you get 3yrs out of them.

If you're after something a little bit more serious, here's a comparison chart someone from Reddit knocked up.
