    Free hosting for how long??

    • +7

Its free for life, or until you need to upgrade to a higher plan.
As long as you stay within the limits of the plan, it will not expire

      • So lifetime of your company? On your website, I just checked, it's for a month?

        • +10

          Yes,
we have been providing hosting for over 10 years and do not plan on going anywhere.

        • @aussiehosting: Nice offer but you might want to update the website. It would look more trustworthy and for, example the sliders are really weird the smallest quantity I can get by sliding the traffic is 5859GB that's quite a jump from 1GB :D (I know you can type how much you want but it's silly).

        • @exa: thanks, I will have our admin guys see what we can do about the sliders

        • +3

@aussiehosting: Don't plan very far ahead then do you

    • +1

Apparently until 18th May - just got an email to say the HostInAus business has been sold, and the new owner (Digital Innovations IT Solutions) will not offer free web hosting.

  • +16

    100% guaranteed network uptime

    lol

    • +7

      Yes, that is 100% correct,

Our Plesk Automation Network is hosted on IBM SoftLayer infrastructure, and as such we are able to offer this guarantee

      http://knowledgelayer.softlayer.com/faq/do-you-offer-any-sla…

      • +8

An SLA is different to guaranteed network uptime.

        • The guarantee is that "SoftLayer will use reasonable efforts to provide a service level of 100%"…

        • +3

@twocsies: considering they had major issues last year where they didnt bother upgrading their drives that were running at near capacity 24/7 until they started failing majorly, resulting in massive loss of business for hundreds even thousands of customers,

their "yeah we try our best to hit 100 percent" is NOT 100 percent uptime.

  • +7

How long until you sell the company to VentraIP?

    • +7

We have no plans to sell to VentraIP

We are in the process of acquiring multiple other web hosts to enable us to compete with them more effectively

      • +1

How long until you sell the company to Digital Innovations IT Solutions?

  • +8

Can't complain for free. +VE from me.

    • +3

      Thanks

    • +1

what does plus v e mean

      • +1

        Plus vote.

      • +8

+ve is short for "positive". The plus sign is a symbol for a positive number with the last two letters of the word. Same with -ve being short for "negative".

On Ozbargain they mean positive(plus)/negative vote, as Utopian said.

        • +15

          did you skip school?

        • +5

          @chill:
          +ve

    • +9

Its ozbargain, those on welfare will still find something to complain about.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN I DONT GET A FREE DOMAIN NAME ASWELL!? THIS IS AUSTRALIA"

    • +1

looks like a great deal for someone who wants to host a domain for personal or small bus email and look more professional then hotmail or gmail especially for resumes.

Microsoft and Google used to let you host your domain for free, one it's $5 per month……

yes you still have pay for a domain name and dns …. sure someone will ask ……. Ventura handles my domain name…. go daddy my mail might try you guys …… for me it's just my resumes need to look professional

  • -3

So the deal is free hosting, but you'd have to pay for website registration. Is that right?

    • +1

by website registration? you mean domain name?

      • -2

Sorry, yes. Domain name registration. That doesn't seem to be free.

        • +4

NO one in the world will offer you free domains as you have to pay to have them.

You can get a free .tk

          http://www.dot.tk/en/index.html?lang=en

        • -6

          @useful:

          lol .tk that sounds legit…

        • +1

          @KaptnKaos:

Use .tk or use money to buy a .com etc etc

        • +1

          @useful:

Here on ozbargain 1 year and 9 months ago we were offered free domains.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/145981

        • @useful:

NO one in the world will offer you free domains

Net registry had free .au.com domain names.

        • +2

          @snoo: au.com are sub-domains (au.com is the domain name)

However, I've had a pile of free domains over the years (.asia, .co, etc)

        • @OzJD:

          Yeah true!

    • +2

Hosting is free, and you can use a domain already registered elsewhere, register a domain through our portal, or transfer a domain to us and manage it through our portal.

Alternatively, if you would like to register and pay for hosting with one of our higher plans, for three months or more, we do offer a free domain with paid hosting on 3, 6 and 12 month hosting purchases.

    • +2

If you already have a domain name you can use that.

      • yes, that is correct,
Welcome to Host in Aus, Brent!

        • Do you charge any transfer fee for moving domain from existing provider?
Do you have free support in uploading website?
          Is there any other charges?
If we go beyond the 500mb limit, how do you charge (cost breakdown).
FYI, My Domain is parked currently with Netregistry and building up a website using cloudpress.

        • @buddyboy:
Do you charge any transfer fee for moving domain from existing provider?
If you want to transfer your domain to us, there is a transfer fee, which varies depending on the domain type, but it includes an extension to your domain registration. So if you want to transfer a .com domain, it will cost $16.50, but includes a 1 year domain registration extension.

Do you have free support in uploading website? Yes we do
Is there any other charges? No

If we go beyond the 500mb limit, how do you charge? Disk Space costs $1 per GB, or you can upgrade to any of our higher plans, starting with unlimited bandwidth and 10Gb disk space for $20 a month

        • @aussiehosting:
Thanks, found in your link that transfer fee for domain with com.au is free. Is that an error??
can i register now free without Registrar's authorization key as i dont have it handy (should be somewhere). Cheers

        • +2

@buddyboy: .au domains are free to transfer.

You can select the option to use a domain registered elsewhere, then we can transfer for you later

        • @aussiehosting:
          Cheers.

        • @aussiehosting:
Thanks all good. + from me.
OP my subscription / invoice shows period as 1 Month!!!!
Is this only for a month or for Life time as per your deal??

        • +2

@buddyboy: it's free for life, it will continue auto renewing for free unless you go over the limits

  • +1

Why do you have an SSL issue?

    http://imgur.com/YLcjN5n

    • For some reason your device does not recognize COMODO SSL certificates.

Comodo is one of the largest SSL issuers, so you may need to manually add Comodo as a trusted source

      • +2

        That would be Chrome (v48).

… So you may want to check that out, most of your customers will think you are insecure.

        • thanks for the information.

We will investigate the issue and see what we can do.

        • +1

@aussiehosting: No problem. Signed up. Goodluck with it all :)

        • @BluBoy:
          Thanks,

Feel free to let us know if we can help you in any way

        • No problem here, chrome v48, certificate is totally valid. Im guessing its something on your end.

        • @cheese510:
          Interesting.
          Mac OSX 10.11 here…

        • @BluBoy: Ah, windows 10 here. Is your time/date synchronized properly? I dont have any macs i could test on.

        • +2

          @cheese510:

          Time/date correct.

          Certificate chain may be incomplete
          https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=admin.hostina…

        • @BluBoy:
Funnily enough, there's no problems for me using Chrome v48 on Mac OS X 10.11

        • +1

          @aussiehosting:

As @BluBoy showed with the ssllabs link, you have an incomplete certificate chain.

Your server is only sending its own certificate. Browsers/OSes only come with root certificates by default.

For security, most CAs will sign an intermediate certificate (maybe multiple) from the root, and then sign certificates for specific domains off of that, making a chain. This lets them keep the keys for the root certificate offline and airgapped - worst-case exposure of the intermediate certificate lets them easily invalidate it.

Since browsers do not know the intermediate certificate, the server must send it. If the server does not, the site will only work for people who have visited other sites using the same intermediate certificate, where their browser has cached it.

Quite honestly, I don't think I should have to explain this kind of thing to a hosting provider. It raises doubts about your technical expertise, in a "you had ONE job" sense.

        • +3

          @elusive: hi,
The last time I checked the certificate chain, the certificate chain was installed. It may have been changed by an update.

I will have our systems admins check the certificates and update them to avoid any further issues

        • @BluBoy: Well that's your issue.

Keychain.app > Preferences > General > Reset My Default Keychain

Or just delete the certificate (instead of reseting them all)

      • +1

Comodo is one of the largest SSL issuers

        Scary isn't it.

You know, since they can't seem to stop giving users massive security issues with their needless browser or providing security software that can be attacked to run arbitary code on the users machine.

        • +1

One of the worst companies for security. Recently involved in a man in the middle, but back a few years ago were breached so people were signing their own certificates and doing some bad things

  • Domain name registration $36 for two years. Still cheaper than weebly for two years :)

OP A question for you from a website noob. If I need to create a basic website do I get templates eg like with weebly. I'm not really website literate and I hope my question makes sense

    • Hi,

If you use WordPress on your web hosting, you can take advantage of thousands of free and low-cost templates available.

We have our own in-house developers and support that can help you get it all set up and online if you have any issues.

  • What is VAT Number?

    • +1

VAT numbers are for our clients in Europe that have to register and pay for VAT tax

if you have an ABN, you can put it in here

  • Can I change the domain name used later?

    • Yes you can add and remove domains in your billing and hosting panels at any time

      • Is that free of charge?

        • +3

as long as you own the domains, yes.

if you want to register additional domains, you will need to pay the registration fee

        • Signed up.

  • Can I give access to the account to my daughter as well?

    • Yes you can

  • +1

your contact page has a real phone number - good enough for me. signed up

    • Yes it does. thanks

  • +2

Every thing looks good but 1GB Bandwidth is too low, mostly its finished in couple of days and remaining day its shows "Bandwidth Exceeded contact Admin" on the website. Suitable for the websites which have max 20 visits a day. In My View Godaddy's $1/month (with coupon code) hosting with free .com domain is best offer than anything.

    • +1

      Hi,

1GB is suitable for starting up, and getting a website online. Combined with a CDN like cloudflare, it can go a long way.

All our other plans have unlimited bandwidth, and when combined with our 80% off coupon, can be as low as $5 a month

    • What does the godaddy $1 per month offer? I'm on a $4 per month plan with another host and wouldn't mind moving off it.

      • +5

        Protip: don't move to Godaddy.

        • Is there an issue aside for reliability/support. Don't use my domain for too much - more as a place for hosting documents as Google Drive is blocked on some networks which I access.

      • I'm on the godaddy $1 month plan …… people send mail to it I get mail from it works fine.

ok for home use or run the local sports club…… it's shared vs own vm

if your lively hood depends on it , go for one of the better plans as your income depends on Customer experience…..if it's home use go for the free.

  • Anyone with these guys whom can confirm whether they're good?

    • +3

We have had over 100 people sign up today, since I posted this ad.

Sign up and have a try for yourself

  • +1

think your site is either getting ozbargained or under DDOS attack, I'm getting DNS errors, pictures not loading, timeout errors.. all other internet sites are functioning fine on the same connection.

    • Hi
Which page are you trying to load?

I am looking at our sites now and can see no issues

      • Changed my DNS to googles 8.8.8.8 seems to be resolving now, is https://admin.hostinaus.com.au a recently setup subdomain? Can only assume it hasn't propated to my ISP's DNS for some reason yet.

        • we have had issues with some ISP DNS caching.

It has been in our DNS since we updated our billing system last year

        • @aussiehosting: *propagated :) no problems.

  • +2

Those free .casa and .work domain names come in handy.

  • +2

OP, how do I actually get to a control panel that let's me configure the website? All I'm getting is store/contact details icons:

    http://i.imgur.com/1yoG7eh.png?1

    • Wondering the same thing

      • +1

I don't think u signed up to a hosting plan.

u have to sign up to hosting with a domain name then u have to create webspace for that domain name. Then you enable it… wait a while then u should have access to extra tabs to website, mail, files etc.

    • I seem to have found it, more tabs have appeared.

      • What did you do to find it?

        • +2

I dont know, I just click. Stuff happens when you do that.

        • +2

In your control panel, on the top right hand corner of the screen, use the drop down box to select the plan you bought, then go to webspaces tab, and create a new web space for your site

    • +1

On the top right corner there is a drop down box to select the plan you ordered. Then new tabs will show up. One is web spaces, select that tab to create a web space for your site
