  • is there a way of pointing my domain (registered with namecheap) to hostinaus, without changing the nameservers? I tried pointing the A record to the hostinaus IP but to no avail.

    • no. although you could add the hostinaus nameserver to your current nameserver list so if you current hosting goes down it will fall over to the hostinaus,

      • +1

You can point your domain to the IP shown in your DNS tab, you are not required to use our name servers, artypig had an issue with the DNS propagation taking longer than he expected

    • +1

Thanks for contacting us, we have trained the issue through our support team now

      • I also have a domain (*.tech) registered with namecheap. I have changed the name servers to "ns1.hostinaus.com.au", "ns2.hostinaus.com.au," etc. but I don't seem to be able to be able to see anything in the control panel that let's me configure the website… All I can see is that my 'Beginner Business Web Hosting' is disabled/pending - Why is this?

FYI this is all I can see, like many others… http://i.imgur.com/1yoG7eh.png?1

        • Hi. Can you please open a support ticket in your control panel and our story team will look into it for you

  • Hello, thanks for the offer. Im little new to web hosting and domain registration. Recently i have developed a basic website using wordpress for our business. So i have 3 queries.
    1) can i buy a new domain in godaddy for 1$ for the first yr and use it in your 'Host in Aus' ?
    2) will thr will be any extra charge associated here? 3) can i use wordpress in ur web hosting ?
    Thanks.

    • Hi
      1) yes you can
      2) no there is not

  • +2

Loving the security error in the screenshot for this deal above (eg https://cdn.ozb.me/n/25/236525.jpg?h=0886b694); slightly humorous given the nature of this deal being web hosting.

    • I have no idea why the auto-generated image is a security error. Our SSL is perfectly fine…

  • This sounds like a good deal, however it's not working for me. I've signed up for a Beginner Business Web Hosting subscription and now in the control panel I don't see any tabs for managing web hosting.
    http://postimg.org/image/whgcgrd4t/
I looked at my subscriptions and it says the subscription status of Beginner Business Web Hosting is pending. Do you know why this is and when can I start using the service? I've entered a .tk website by the way. Thanks.

    • Hi,

we had an issue with some accounts not being provisioned immediately due to the sheer volume of signups in a very short period of time

you account should now be active

      • It works now, thanks!

  • Didn't even receive an email when registering my accounts, nor did i receive an email when creating a support ticket…. how to follow up on a support request? the support tickets don't show on the account page.

    • Hi

You should have received an email with your password as well as an order confirmation,

Can you send an email to [email protected] with your account details so we can see what has happened

      • I didn't receive any emails either throughout the whole process of signing up and also after I purchased a new domain. I think something is broken with regards to your auto-generated emails.

        • It is likely that your email provider has marked them as spam or not delivered them properly, as we have confirmed all emails are being sent out correctly

        • @aussiehosting: I thought this might be the case too, but I checked my spam folder and there was nothing there.

  • OP, how do I select my own domain? In the last section when I click 'Select Domain' it has to be a available one above in the 'Check domain for registration'. However since I own the domain, it is not available. Thus I have to purchase one?

    • +1

In the registration page, you need to select the link that says, "use existing domain, registered elsewhere."

  • Your VPS plans are an absolute rip off

    • +2

      Hi,

      Thanks for the feedback,

Our VPS plans are based on a cost price plus 10% management fee.

All our VPSes are high performance softlayer private node VPSes the their Melbourne data centre, not budget overseas VPS plans

  • In order to register, we need to provide at least one domain name, its that correct?
Because I got the following error: Please select at least one domain in order to proceed with Beginner Business Web Hosting package

    • Yes that is correct,

You need to either use a previously registered domain or register a domain

    • +1

Just a warning, if you do register a new .com.au domain name which I did, I got an error because you will need an ABN and company name which I did not know. So better register a new .com domain instead.

      • I think you can put any ABN as long as the format correct. DISCLAIMER: This is not legal advice and I am not responsible for any issue arise.

  • Hi, could you please give us more information on how to setup Cloudflare with the hosting? there is nothing on your website.

    • You will need to follow the info on the cloudflare website, and change the DNS records to the ones specified by cloudflare to take advantage of their service, however, we have deals available through edgecast CDN, which offers a far better CDN solution at a decent price. Contact our sales team for more info

  • I like the stock photos used on the Our Staff page of your website. Big Bruce Chambers has to have been employed by thousands of companies by now.

    :D

    • Yes, they are stock photos for the moment,

We will be uploading new photos soon

  • Hi OP. I'm think about running a GhostBlogging Platform instance which requires Node.js.
Does Plesk allow SSH (terminal) access & will it allow me to install Node.js?

    • Hi,
Our shared Plesk Automation environment does not allow SSH or node.js but we can provide a dedicated Plesk VPS which will support it if you require

      • Thanks OP. The dedicated VPS will need to be bought from your VPS options 1-4 then?

        • Hi

They are our standard packages on our High Availability infrastructure, however we would be happy to provide you with a quote on a VPS to meet your needs and budget if you would like.

  • Joined. Thanks!

Just want to share my findings
    1) If you couldn't see the management features after creating Webspace, do reload (or logout and log back in) to see other tabs.
    2) I have Wordpress installed from the Application Management, and I've keep getting Connection Reset time by time when accessing the WP admin and front. There's no theme and no plugin enabled at all. Guess resources are really limited to Free accounts. Not suggested for live website.

    My suggestion to OP is
To make this a useful and effective marketing campaign, you need to get as many happy customer as you can, so they may think of you when they come to a need of a bigger, serious website built. For now, with so limited resources, slowness, etc, you are getting as many customers to experience the "bad" of your services/products, and making these customers to avoid, and get away from HostInAUS.

You are not alone, there's many same/other kind of business doing the same mistake. When doing marketing, do it properly I will suggest.

    Good luck selling.

    Cheers!

    • Hi Andrew

We have not received any reports of connection issues, and 500mb of space should be plenty for wordpress. Can you please open a support ticket so our technical team can investigate your specific issues.

The Wordpress version that installs is the latest version supplied by wordpress.org and comes with the default themes and plugins installed. You can easily add your own to customize your site

      • Hi there,

I didn't complaint about the 500mb storage at all :) What I am talking about is the resources in terms of processes (CPU), connections (network, mysql) etc.

I am just come up to throw in my 2 cents. It's up to you to improve your marketing strategy, or trying to defence. It's actually none of my business, really, since I have 3 VPS, 4 reseller accounts, and 2 standard shared accounts with different providers across the world, and I am constantly review new providers, and that's why I signed up for the free account of HostInAUS.

That's it. And I am skipping your company, but thanks anyway.

        All the Best!

        • Thanks

I have checked the status of the servers, and none have over 20% CPU and memory usage.

          I appreciate your feedback.

If you would also like to review our paid services and reseller accounts, I can arrange a reseller account or trial of one of our premium business accounts as well

        • Hi, Looks like you still couldn't get me. Yes shouldn't be over 20% of CPU usage as not many people is loading the pages on the website, but once when you start working on the website, like trying to install a theme, plugin, etc, you will sometimes get connection reset error.

No worries, you don't have to reply. Just keep in mind that you are trying to tell people how good your services and products are, but not getting more people to learn about how they should avoid buying from you.

        • @andrewchk:
          Hi,

As I mentioned, I cannot reproduce the error on any connections I have available, nor has anyone else reported the issue. Hence, I ask you to open a support ticket in your account so I can have our support team investigate the specific issue on your account.

Our server monitoring shows no connection issues, and the connections are are nowhere near the limit. We would really like to assist you with resolving the issue too.

  • Hi,

Something goes wrong.. It is asking $36.00. :(

    • +1

      Hi
it looks like you were trying to purchase a domain

  • yep…

  • Is it free for 2 domain?

    • you can host 2 domains for free, but you must purchase domains, either from us or another registrar

  • +2

Got a call today from some web design team on my mobile. They quoted me the domain name I registered through this deal. Are you guys selling personal information of your customers?

    • Hi,

No, we do not sell or pass on any customer information to third parties.

It is likely they got your info from a whois lookup on recently registered domains.

Can you please open a support ticket so we can follow this up for you, as it is very concerning

      • Thanks for the response. I've opened a ticket (#37)

    • Same here. I've gotten a call and heaps of spam emails asking to design my website…

      • we now know where they are getting the info from.

when you register your domain, your registrant information is registered in a whois database alongside your domain name. this is for the purpose of people contacting owners of domains to send abuse reports etc.

What has happened is that unscrupulous overseas businesses are now using this information to illegally spam domain registrants. According to my research it is now at record levels.

Through our registrar, we are now offering domain privacy, so you can hide your details, meaning that anyone who wants to contact you must first contact the registrar with a legitimate reason for doing so. However, registrars do charge a yearly fee for this, which we pass on directly. Currently the fee is $10 per year.

Please lodge a support ticket to have this added to your domain.

  • So I've registered a new domain (e.g. abc123.com) but I currently have a free site on abc123.weebly.com. Anyone know how I can start hosting on my newly registered domain?

I've transferred my .com.au domain to you guys.

  • I just saw that there is a new interface to install application. Anyone know how to upload a war file? before it was just drag and drop..Thanks :)

  • Is this offer still on? I can see that it's free hosting for 1 month now.

Can we use .tech or .io domains for this hosting?

  • can i host a java web app here? do you have a tomcat or any server that can host war files. thanks

    • We can provide Java hosting if required. Create an account and open a support ticket so our provisioning team can help you out

      • thanks. is it sill for free?

  • Can you please explain exactly what I put in for my A record for the DNS of an externally registered domain name to make it load the website I have uploaded to your webspace? Since you use shared IP addresses for the webspace, I have no idea what to do. I did send an email through on 02/03/16 asking what IP address to use, but received no response.

      Hi

Apologies, it appears your email was missed, as we had over 200 support tickets come through on that day.

I have now responded to your email

      • Thank you. I have opted to use your nameservers instead of setting up DNS records of my own. Sounds easier.

  • Waste of time. No access to any sort of file manager / control panel etc - there's no ticket system even for the hosting - I need to go to SSL section and there's a Request Support but it looks so basic and can't even attach files, needed to use imgur to show them a screenshot.

    • +1

      Hi,
Your browser is blocking the menus. We have a full control panel and support ticketing system, just for some reason you cannot see it.

  • Have I missed the boat on this one? I don't seem to be able to set up a free account :(

EDIT: Nevermind - I worked it out :D

  • I SHOULD HAVE LEARNT BY NOW - NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH
7+days for dns to propagate and support has been pitiful - apparently free accounts get a support response within 6-8 hours and paid accounts take precedence my business might have died in that time !!!!
No support over Easter weekend - imagine if your shopping site went down during a massive sales period pffff
NOT 24/7 that's only for CRITICAL but site not resolving and redirect issues is not critical enough
Installed Wordpress but it installs to http folder not the proper root directory and installs it to domain.com ./
Temperamental site loading for my mates on different ips and computers. Can't load the site in my own browser due to cache issue !!

    • How could it take DNS 7 days to update? Do you use your own ISP DNS server on your computer?

Just received this email from Hostinaus:

"Dear valued Host in Aus clients, Due to growth in other areas of the business, the directors of Host in Aus have made the decision to discontinue web hosting services. Digital Innovations IT Solutions, a Melbourne - based managed services provider, will be acquiring the assets and client base of Host in Aus. For clients on paid hosting plans, you will be contacted in the next 1-2 weeks to arrange migration to their managed hosting platform and any other information they require. For clients on free hosting, Digital Innovations had indicated that they will not be continuing to offer free services. They would be more than willing to migrate any current free plans to a paid hosting plan and continue services uninterrupted, otherwise you have until the 18/05/2016 to move your hosting to another provider. As after this date all hosting services from Host in Aus will be terminated, and any remaining sites deleted. If you have any questions or require any further information, please contact Host in Aus during business hours, on 03 9017 5062 Regards, Bruce C Host in Aus"

I have a free Hostinaus account, but over the last few days had trouble creating Webspaces, so instead have opened an account with Zuver - basic plan $12 for 12 months using coupon Z50 on first invoice.
