Tell them your next step is the telecommunication industry ombudsman. If the person you're talking to doesn't take it seriously put it in a formal complaint. You can put that in through their web page if the staff you're talking to won't do that for you.

  • Confirm that Telstra will discount the plan by $10 and keep the bonus data for life via chat and screenshot before signing up. I signed up on the previous $40/7gb deal and when I signed up they told me that the discount was only for 12 months but I made sure I had evidence from a previous chat saying the discount and bonus data was good until recontract and they agreed.

  • Says no longer available for me

  • it shows on firefox but on chrome not (may be telstra had cache of my existing login cookie) - firefox ot shows on home page itself (telstra.com.au)

  • I tried to signup but got an error message at the end.

Plan has disappeared now, can anyone else still see it after clearing your cache?

Stupid monkeys at the call centre have no idea about the plan.

  • I just joined and looks to be okay -

  • What's the cheapest non-telstra sim I can port to so I can change back to this deal?

    • I ported from freedom plus prepaid with no problem

      • Lucky you. I got told no twice bit i am postpaid. Ported to amaysim and back to the t after a month will be the plan.

  • Seems this offer expired already. I was in impression that it would be lasting until mid of March and I was seriously thinking of it.

Oh well, waiting a new offer, preferably 4-5gb $60 plan with Nexus 6P or something :)

It's avail till at least mid next month. Try using a different browser/device.

  • I signed up using the deal link on an apple with google chrome.

I am also an existing postpaid customer but it let me go through without issue. I guess I will get a call shortly telling me that i can't get this deal lol.

    • Yeah, same.. Keep me posted on your progress!

      • Existing pre paid is valid, even gives option on sign up. Uses same sim, so you don't need the one they post out.

  • I had alot of issues signing up, ended up using this URL
    https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/plans-and-rates/mx-plan

via Internet Explorer 11 and had no issues!

    • Yeah but some may get redirected.

  • Telstra says to use www.telstra.com/mx which seems to work here. Got my port all done and I'm on the plan now, looking good!

  • Hi, I've got a really dumb question, sorry.

I've got a couple of mobile plans on optus (one byo, one on contract) that I want to move to Telstra.

Always been post paid and assumed that would give best value. I just stumbled today on this whole google / other credit thingy.

Putting aside what I can spend it on, how does it work?

Say I pay $40 pre paid. If I use up all my data or calls before the end of the month (v unlikely) that part of the service stops working unless I recharge. And the whole phone (calls & data) stops working after 28 or 30 days unless I recharge? I would set it up to auto recharge so it feels just like my seamless post paid.

I guess my main question is - Where does the google credit come from? Is it the whole $40? Do I have to have >1c worth of value left at the end of the month to get it?

I'm really confused (evidently). Never bothered to understand pre paid…

Just placed my order online and it's gone through. Got a receipt and confirmation with Live Chat rep.

On a side note, according to the Live Chat rep you can also add a handset to this plan but the repayments needs to be broken up over a 24 month period. From month 13th onwards, you'll be out of contract and going month on month for the Mx service.
