  • Price for the ink are around $10 for the Generic or $25 of the Genuine each.

  • good find. how long will the ink cartridges last for?

  • It's a discontinued model, but that doesn't mean it isn't a good all-in-one.

    Bloody good value.

can it print on CD/DVDs ??

    • Sorry, the box and Canon website don't say anything about printing on CDs or DVDs - so I'm going to assume it cannot out of the box.

  • nice I needed a printer!

  • Does this come with some ink?

    • It does. CLI-521BK(Dye), PGI-520BK (Pigment), CLI-521C/CLI-521M/CLI-521Y

Apparently this a brilliant printer, with excellent quality and groovy features like double-sided scanning (from the ADF).

However, it is incredibly expensive to run because of the unusually small ink cartridges.

If you can wear the expense, or would like it as a special scanner, then it may suit you.

Other issues recurring were: wireless and fax difficulties, though perhaps firmware would solve them.

  • Just an FYI genuine can be had for $16 and non genuine for ~$6 for this printer if you look around….

Does this do the usual waste of ink by cleaning the heads almost every time you turn it on or want to print. Like most other prixma printers I have owned?

Approx 540 pages per cartridge (genuine) @ 5% coverage. Which put the per page cost 2.98 cents per page which is reasonable IMHO for a low spec printer.Non genuine costs ~ 1 cent per page, although I would recomm you use genuine for the first 12 months incase of any dramas Canon won't help you if you haven't used genuine.

Canon are cheaper to run at this price point than HPs which can cost 200 - 300% more per page.

And yes you do get ink although typically it isn't a full production cartridge.

And yes you do use a little ink each time the print heads are cleaned.

  • delivery is $30 to Brisbane… Makes it $180. Still cheaper than other comparable printers though.
