Waiting for a Gazebo sale! :)

Get the nailer brad for assembly and make it a permanent gazebo.

How is this comment relevant to the deal?

      • +2

trolling is relevant to any topic ;)

      • Ahhh so you've been a knob before too… figures. Tranqme the ozbargain self proclaimed forum/fun police, your like a mall cop lol

        • Oh shut up you bigot, just trying to clean up the crap on here, looks like I'm going to need a bigger broom!

  • Cheap.

  • I can almost see a new spray gun in the shed.

  • -2

    I suppose you'll need this.

BTW I have no idea on quality of unit and know nothing about air compressors/air tools.

    • Might get away with it for the single shot tools like nail gun, but don't think you would with the other stuff like rattle gun, drill, grinder etc.
Free air delivery rate prob too low.

      • Thanks. Explain a little more for the noobs like me on what to look for? And if there's anything at supercheap that looks like value?

An example, recently I purchased the air hammer chisel tool from SuperCheap to knock grout/tile remnants etc off from a pool feature wall (6 sqm in size) where electric tools could not be used safely.

          http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Black…

If you look at the spec of this tool, it states it requires minimum 90 litres per minute.

I have the Blackridge 120 litre per minute air compressor

          http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Black…

.. so I thought I would be golden.

Whilst this compressor is more than adequate to run the tool for a short burst (we are talking seconds) from the tank, once insufficient pressure is available, the compressor starts up again. You are not supposed to use the air tool while the pump is operating. So essentially, I would get 10 seconds of use, then have to sit around for 90 noisy seconds for the pump to kick in and get the pressure back up.

Given I only paid $100 for the compressor on gumtree (which is littered with second-hand blackridge compressors), I decided to use the tool continuously which means the compressor's pump never stopped running trying to keep up. If you look at the blackridge doc, they warn against this.

So long and short of it, you need to be careful choosing the compressor based on whether you require some high pressure continuous use tool (grinder / sprayer etc), or a limited-frequency use tool (like a nailer).

Most of the cheap compressors are also direct drive, and NOT belt drive. So they are quite loud.
You also need to take in to account the ampere requirements and the tank's capacity. If you need to drive the compressor from a 10amp circuit you are limited in your choices.

For 10 amp, something like the following at $728 new would be a good compressor …. I would try and find something second hand though on gumtree.

        • @mshannon: thanks dude was thinking about getting a crapridge compressor but will spend the few extra to get a quality one.

  • +1

does anyone have any feedback on the quality?

    • +1

I'm questioning this as well, though with airtools in general I guess there's less that can go wrong considering theres no electrical components.
Anyone purchased this stuff before? See some guy on ebay with auctions for 3 of the exact same brand air die grinders. Auction probably won't go well for him this week..

  • +2

Do they also sell air guitars?

    • +6

Man, I hope not: last time I tried to buy one of those, it was a riff off!

      • I couldn't fit mine in the car. I had to get it delivered.

        • Whoosh…

        • @rawm:

Yeah thats the sound the air guitar made when it went over your head :)

  • Dont forget 1.5 CR

  • Any idea whether you can use the spray gun to paint gutters?

Do you need a specific paint? or just the normal exterior stuff (which i have already bought)

    • +1

ordinarily it needs to be "watered" down.

for gutters I'd use a brush.

unless the gutters haven't been installed and you're painting them before hand (saves on masking)

      • Thanks - I'll go the brush

  • +1

10-30mm length nail….pass hammer will do

  • Ok lets apply realistic expectations

I have 120 lpm compressor (lovely, you say, but I worked as a tool and die maker in the a long past lifetime)

Anything requiring consistent torque will disappoint ie drill, polisher, grinder - go lectric

    however

    nail gun
    brad nailer
    pop riveter
    stapler

    these are awesome

last weekend, erecting a chicken run, I used a blackridge staple air tool - I used about 1500 staples in the day, and the compressor turned on, at most, every two hours!

know the tool for the job

PS back to the tool maker comment, we had a 4.5 hp compressor with 2000litre tank, and that rocked. we also had a 1.8 hp portable with 150 litre tank, it sucked if the constant need was air!
