  • Price and seller in title please.

  • Wow looks like since new ownership, DCC are turning around.

  • Buy a Sony A6000 for one-third of that price.

You need to check out more reviews mate, if you really love Nikon, just buy it.

However, spending $1829 for an APSC bulky DSLR, a zoom lens plus a cheap prime, seems too much for me.

The new SONY A6300 will blow all APSC DSLRs out of the water anyway :-)

        • Yeah and be limited with the small lens selection that Sonny offers.
You don't know what op's intended use for the camera is. Maybe he'd like to get himself into some wildlife and the 7200 will be great for that. With the array of long glass from both Nikon and third parties like sigma and tamaron.

I suspect we will see some more price drops on this camera. With the d500 just around the corner, those wanting the best crop camera will buy the 500.

Enjoy the camera OP. It will do a great job I'm sure.

          @bbourizk:

Let's assume OP will mainly shoot birds and football.

        • @bbourizk: exactly.
Sony A6000 has limited range of glass plus they are really expensive. imagine a 70-200mm lens on Sony A6000.

Let's not go to Mirrorless Vs DSLR debate again. Enjoy what you like ;)

BTW, collegue got D7200 body only for $827 (work discount)

        • @jva: In that case they better get a 7D MkII.

Guys I never intended to start a debate of which one is better. I just posted the link cause it shows the positives and negatives of both the cameras. I am extremely happy with my purchase and personally like something that feels like a real camera in hand. A6000 must be a mindblowing camera, just not the type for me.

        • I bought D610 last year and I came from canon 550D. I enjoy using my D610 than my M43 Panasonic.

A6000 is a great camera, but a D7200 is a better camera in almost every single way.

The biggest difference is how a high end focusing system in a dslr rips apart just about every single mirrorless ever. D7200 is only a crop sensor dslr, but it is designed for sports and wildlife and capturing motion. It has a very very good autofocus.

This translates to being great taking shots of your kids when they are running amok. I wouldn't even bother if I had a mirrorless.

A6000 will be better to film video, D7200 is rubbish there. A6000 is smaller, if that is important to you. As soon as you get into proper lenses though (try putting a 70-200 f2.8 on mirrorless) and the advantage is lost.

jva, your comment "The new SONY A6300 will blow all APSC DSLRs out of the water anyway :-)" is plain foolish, people are here to get help making decisions and that is unhelpful bordering on false. You are of course entitled to your opinion. Nikon's D500 is more than likely going to be superb, and personally I would choose something like that to fullfill my needs 98 time out of 100.

The other 2 times is when I need to put my camera in my wife's handbag, and shooting video. Then I'd choose mirrorless.

      • Correct!

I've already got used to shoot weddings and commercials with Sony mirrorless cameras, it's been very enjoyable to see customers' reaction when I show them the photos from these "unprofessional look and small" Sony mirrorless cameras :)

Most of the time, people is the key, not the gear they use.

Sony mirrorless are more compact and have more latest technology buit-in, with competitive prices. That's why I quit from Canon and chose Sony.

There is a saying that goes:

"Never argue with an idiot, for they will lower you to their level and beat you with experience."

This has been a learning experience for me. I have heard tales about the "Sony fanboy" and what it is like to talk to them. This is my first encounter.

To everyone spectating this, I am not saying Sony is rubbish, they are really taking ground in the mirrorless world, and I would happily have the A6000 as a small camera. Don't try and say it is better than a proper dslr though.

I also adore my Sony headphones…

I bought a D7100 on NYE at JBHiFi body only for $700 ($850 with a $150 gift card). This just isn't cheap. D7200 has a few advantages but has also taken a few steps back.

Bottom line is if you're gonna spend over 1K, make sure it's full frame…

    • Yeah, why would anyone buy a crop body for that budget?

      • +1

Because they want to take pictures of moving subjects (this includes kids)? I would have to pay twice as much to get a fullframe with equivalent focusing capability.

Wildlife photographers who cannot afford $6-10k lenses? Who will actually benefit from the crop factor and tighter packed megapixels?

The cheapest fullframe Nikon D610 is more expensive than this, and would be absolutely terrible at these jobs in comparison to the D7200.

Landscapes on the other hand would be a different story.

I have D610 and also The D7K. They are two different cameras for two different purposes. D610 won't be that great at sports shots compared to D7200 at all.

D610 isn't cheap. I bought it for $1500 and this D7200 with two lenses seems to be a great deal

        • D600 was ~1000$ here few weeks ago, no need to pay for RRP.

        • @bargainaus: Yeah I bought it at Rrp last year before my workplace partnered with Nikon. I could've got it for under 1000. Oh well.

        • @bargainaus:

Don't buy the D600. It has a problem with splattering oil on the sensor that was only (mostly) fixed on the D610.
