Imation 100 DVD-R writable for $14.88 @ Target

650

Imation 100 spindle DVD-R writable disc for $14.88. That's < $0.15 a disc!

These are no where near the quality of Verbatims but are great value in standalone DVD/DivX players and as giveaways. I wouldn't recommend you back up your important data using them though!

The photo I took shows the shelf price of $19.88, however they are scanning at $14.88 using the price checker and at the counter. Considering the same 100 CD-R spindle is selling for $29.95, this is a bargain.

Not sure if this is at all Targets, however Highpoint in Melb had over 20 spindles remaining when I purchased mine earlier today.

  • Nice find

  • Everytime I pass up on one of these offers thinking I won't require discs for my media, I end up requiring one, mostly to try new Linux distros. Good find.

    • Linux Distro's can be booted/installed via USB isntead of CD/DVD nowdays.

    • USB is a pain in the rear for installing Linux distros, Live DVD/CD's are a lot easier to use.

Nowdays good Linux OS's (like Ubuntu) make this VERY easy.
Insert your USB, run this program, and select your ISO from the file system and your done.

        See screenshot for this simplicity

I've tried 3 usb creator prices and they all have at least one disadvantage. Ubuntu might not be considered to be good for some, if you are looking for a rolling distribution, Ubuntu isn't a good OS.

  • Imation are poor? I thought they were quite decent, something close to the Sony DVD's. Oh well.

  • Weird. I bought the exact same pack from my local Target (Point Cook) several weeks ago. The one I got was the last, marked down from about ~$35 to $19.88 with "damaged packaging" as the cited reason. What surprises me more is that there are 20 spindles left at a Target with as exposure as the one at Highpoint! Nonetheless, good find.

    Definitely a great buy.

Nowhere near as good as MCC Verbs but at LESS THAN half the price it's great for unimportant and/or rarely accessed stuff that you don't want to waste the disk space on but would still like to keep.

  • Darn I bought 2 packs of the 50 for like 8ish last time, wish I had waited a few weeks. Either way, good bargain :)

  • I bought another brand in this sort of shrink wrap packaging from Officeworks ā€” what I found is that dust gets inbetween the DVDs ā€” I guess in transit. I'll never buy that sort again.

  • I got the last one of these from Target in Fremantle. Didnt post because it was the last one and I thought it was probably just a clearance at the one store.

  • Imation are pretty crappy. I bought a 5 pack of DVD-RW's a couple of weeks ago, for use in my DVD recorder, and they have been very troublesome. 2 out of the 5 wouldn't work at all. The other 3 were tempremental, so i kept missing recordings. Back to the security of Verbatim, they've been the best with my DVD Recorder (Pioneer), less failure than Sony. I mean long term use failure, not instant failure like the Imation.

Anyway, these DVD-R might be ok for burning DVD movies via your PC, but i wouldn't trust them with much else.

  • Thanks to the poster, I bought a few packs.

I find if you burn them at slow speed, all DVDs are pretty much the same, from Verbatime to imation to tdk etc

You can always check the burn with nero lite which is a free download = takes time but you can always go eat dinner.

  • Don't like these Imations as I find I have to burn at 8x and below not to have issues but it's a bargain nonetheless

  • FYI, there was only 1 spindle left at Target Highpoint at 12pm today.
