Theearth at Buckscoop has done it again, full credit to him for what is a great deal. Don't think you'll find a samsung 55" UHD TV cheaper than this.

i know right, i love dvds and netflix, but have zero need for a tv!
This is a good price, paid $1750 with $150 cashback in early December last year @ TGG in store.
I've got this model, it's a really good TV for this price, I paid 1550 7 months ago. Ultra HD on Netflix now too.
What's your internet speed to be able to stream ultra HD? (out of interest)
Hmmm..so not for another 5 years given the current NBN roll out rates. Even then, hope the exchange overloaded HFC connections will be able to handle it…
Looks like a larger 65" panel will be the way to go for me and others who won't have 4k content readily available in the foreseeable future.
Ive got 50 MB NBN, still a bit hit or miss at certain times
Has anyone tried gaming with this tv?
should be smooth given the 100hz refresh rate.
60hz ;-)
100hz….. PC connection is 60hz.
100hz or 200hz is not the native refresh rate. It's where the TV inserts extra frames in an attempt to improve motion. Doing so increases input lag which is bad for gaming. Because of this 100/200hz is actually disabled while in a TVs 'Game Mode' so makes no difference to gaming performance.
nice, thanks
Think this is the same model:
http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ju6400Gets a very good rating for video games.
Well, a quick search has revealed this, fwiw.

Wow, this review makes this deal look expensive. Very expensive.
The Sony X850 is rated better, especially for judder and 120 Hz at 1080p.
Yeah I've been playing PS4 on it. Haven't noticed any latency at all
No good for consoles as they output at 1080p so you won't be able to use the native resolution of the TV. Better to save some money and go for a full HD TV.
Depends on the quality of the scaler. High quality 4K upscaling reduces aliasing so can actually make 1080p gaming look less jagged. However contrary to popular belief (and manufacturers marketing departments) it doesn't really improve video quality and can make SD look worse. With a bad scaler like you get in no-name Chinese brands, everything except 4K looks bad.
Would you say a 4K TV with a good scaler can look superior to a native 1080p TV?
If both TVs were exactly the same in every other way then gaming graphics should look slightly smoother and SD video slightly worse on the 4K. HD video would likely look roughly the same. This is just to my eyes though and I'm sure some people would disagree. However 4K upscaling is not the miracle that salespeople make it out to be. It will not make your DVDs look like blu-rays.
I'm going to hold off for a good 65" UHD 200hz deal. But this is still a good deal.
So am I. Was looking at this; http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121637816768
With 10% off.
Ditto.
Unless you like the extra Soap Opera Effect, 100hz is pretty much the same as 200hz.
Should i buy this…or Wait for HDR 4k? I cant decide… soo cheap
Is there 4k content readily available?
Yes …lots of 4k p0rn
So tempting yes?
This or the JVC LT-65NU50A 65"(165cm) UHD LED LCD TV $1389 delivered from TGG.
55" vs 65"
Smart TV - no smart TV
Samsung - JVC
Thinking thinking …JVC is a no name brand. Cheap generic Chinese TV (that they have thrown the JVC name on to appeal to people who remember JVC from the 90's). So if you're after a cheap 65" FHD then sure, but I wouldn't compare it to the Samsung.
JVC is not comparable to Samsung of course. The plus is that it's a UHD/65" at similar price to the 55" samsung. Has there been a cheaper UHD 65" ? I may wait for the next 60"+ deal
How is the clarity on this TV if I connect a samsung laptop to it via HDMI to present excel documents etc?
2) Would it be as clear as my Retina macbook if connected?Depends on the laptop. It would need to support HDMI 1.4 to output 4K @ 30fps, or HDMI 2.0 for 4K @ 60fps.
Otherwise you'll just get 1080p (which will still be clear but not full resolution)
Great TV. It has been cheaper (in December it was going for the ~$1280 from memory during the ebay sale). But still a great price.
Wishing I had this instead of my Panasonic Viera from Dec. more streaming services built into Samsung (incl all Freeview channels)
Got mine for $1287 on Grandfinal weekend, great Tv for the money, buy it.
I wish I jumped on the 75" Sony 4k my 60" just isn't cutting it for ps4 gaming anymore!
A pretty ignorant comment given that at best the ps4 outputs 1080p for games…
Think he was talking about the size not res
You sir are ignorant I want a bigger tv to game on and 4k for 4k content. So get your facts straight before you call me ignorant you ignorant person.
Rekt
I have this TV. The interface is horrible and laggy. Better off getting an LG with a magic remote running web 2.0
Are you sure you have this tv and not the previous model? The older Samsung interface was laggy but the one on this 2015 model is great in comparison.
I bought it on this deal for $1321:
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/213321Edit: I also have the latest firmware installed.
you have a dud then, i got mine from that deal too and no problems.
50inch viera plasma. Worth the upgrade?
I am upgrading from 55inch vierra plasma. Mostly looking forward to smart TV and convenience of media inputs.
UHD is a 5-8 year future proofing IMO. No point buying a TV every 3-4 years.
Depends if you like LCD. In my opinion the only upgrade to plasma picture quality-wise is OLED. Regarding future proofing the 4K technology in this TV has already been superseded by the new Ultra HD Premium TVs being released here later this year.
I know, but watching free to air/FHD Netflix everyday does not make me notice 5-10% variations in picture quality.
What does make a difference is the convenience of apps and unified experience. OLEDs are here but of course they cost a bomb..
Well if you want the best smart TV experience I'd recommend LG WebOS. By the way if you can't notice a 5-10% increase in picture quality you're unlikely to notice the benefit of UHD on a 55" TV.
Resolution has diminishing benefit the smaller the screen and the further you are away. In my opinion at your typical lounge room distance of 2-3m from on a 55" screen, you'd be lucky to see any benefit at all.
Regarding the cost of OLED, the 55EC930T (last years 55" 1080p model) was recently on clearance at around $2k but you'd be lucky to find one left now.. They went quick.
Thanks. I cancelled my order. Decided to wait for a sub 1000 55" FHD and then upgrade to OLED in 3-5 years. Now waiting for 2015 clearances
End of line for Samsung J. New Tv will coming on April.
Get it for $1139 on Boxing day.

I've got the 50" model - it's awesome!
http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-test-results/input-lag?u…
that's weird, this website reckons its quite good at 26.4ms
apparentlty it has judder, which kinda suxnice found op!
Gee that's cheap…too bad I don't watch TV these days…
