    sweet, 1000 orders coming up

    • +3

      "One transaction per customer" .. :-( .. !!

  • +5

Targeted offer? Not mentioned anywhere on its website.

    • +2

Would love to know this as well before committing to buy

  • +2

whats the actual money value for 500 Qantas pts???

      • +23

There is a difference between what Qantas charge for the points and what they are worth. $5 is the more likely scenario.

      • +4

Thats what you have to pay for them!

Realistically. 0.5c to 1.5c for most things

I got 3c when i used them for business class flights

    • Depends what you use them for, but probably somewhere around $5-$10.

    • I had the "Auto Reward" feature enabled for sometime, for which they would deduct 3000 points just for a $20 Woolworth Gift card.

  • +2

It's interesting the terms state "Only 1 transaction per customer will be eligible for 500 bonus Qantas Points." I wonder if it's per Kogan customer or tied to a FF number. Otherwise make multiple email accounts with forward.cat and profit.

    • +1

Have to link Kogan account to QFF account, so probably both.

  • +1

Can you have multiple account with the same QFF?

  • LOL, cable "Leaves warehouse in 3-4 weeks"
"After your item is shipped, please allow another 3-5 business days for metro delivery or 4-7 days for regional areas."

  • +3

Looks to be targeted. Nothing in the public domain that discloses this offer.

  • Post link to T&C's from kogan website

    • Here but no mention of 500 points. Only in the email.

      • That's what I thought, may be targeted.

        • My interpretation is not targeted.

To earn Qantas Points, Qantas Frequent Flyer members must create a Kogan.com account, add their Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number to it and purchase eligible products.

E.G. Anyone can create an account. This was an email from Kogan not Qantas.

        • @neil: I see I see. Someone could always chat to them online to confirm. But not bad deal if true

        • +1

          @Turd:

Have done so. Open to anyone as long as they have Qantas FF and Kogan account.

  • +1

$3.57 of points for 500 points based on their hotel rate being 14000 points for $100 off a hotel stay.

+2.57 for each cable purchased if it works. but the biggest problem I find now is how to use the points. Can never use them when I want to so have moved away from QFF points.

    • You me too, I have 233k points, dunno what to do. :|

      • They sell for around 1c a point if you can be bothered and are willing to take the (slight) risk.

        • Sell? To whom and how??

        • +1

@cornucopia: people sell them in OzB classifieds regularly. Just put them through as a regular transfer I think (not that I've done it).

        • @magicmoose:
i did not know that. i want to offload 100k points and was wondering what the best way to do that would be.

      • +1

Do a bit of travelling? I have about 10k now and have been trying to find ways to build enough to get a flight 'there' as well as 'back' :)

        • +2

Best way to get points is to sign up for some of the credit cards that give 40k - 60k points bonus.

        • Yeap sign up for the Amex Platinum Business Card for a whopping 150k points. Only drawback is the $1500pa

        • @nightelves: Is that even worth it?

        • +1

@nightelves: This one is better. 75k points, no fee for the first year:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/230094

        • @team teri:

Yeap unfortnuately I'm already with ANZ so I can't get it. But would be interesting if I can get a second Amex card if I already have their Qantas premium cc.

        • @nightelves: So You're effectively paying retail for the points .. :-( .. !!

        • @cornucopia:

Nope just waiting for deals to come around with bonus points signup.

      • +3

        Fly!

I flew 1st class on Emirates to London on my QFF points

Very nice it was too on the A380 - having a shower at 38000ft is an experience

The Emirates A380 1st class lounge in Dubai is mindblowing

        • How many points did you have to fork out for that?

        • +2

          @nightelves:

It was about 150000 one way from memory plus around $300 in taxes

I came back business class on another airline

        • @R4:

wow you must have a lot of points

      • +2

Redeem a round the world trip for 140k, or save up a bit for business at 280k.

      • +1

Save up to 280k and book a OneWorld RTW trip in Business

  • +12

Go through the Qantas Online Mall to earn 2 points on your $1 cable too :P

  • can you provide the process to get it ? ..It is not working for me

    • +7

Now I understand why you named yourself that.

  • I got an email too, it's most likely targeted. I already had my QFF linked to Kogan anyway and I have earned a few points in the past. Takes a very long time for the points to hit your account though

  • lol, I was actually looking for a micro USB cable. Got one on ebay a few days ago… oh well.

  • +11

    Hello jim. Welcome to Kogan.com.
    How may I help you?
    jim
Hi , Im seeing a post on a bargain website that states you are giving 500 Qantas FF points for a purchase - true or false???
    Gail
Yes, that is correct. We are offering a bonus 500 Qantas Points with ANY Purchase.
    jim
so as long as my card is registered I get 500 points for a purchase? Read
    Gail
As long as you have saved your Frequent Flyer number to your Kogan account and signed in before checking out, you will receive the 500 bonus points.

    • -3

So in essence you can purchase multiple times to receive the bonus points?

      • Noooo , T&C says … Only 1 transaction per customer will be eligible for 500 bonus Qantas Points.

        • What about is you get your friends to use your QFF number? Do you get credited those points?

        • @nightelves: your name details has to be the same on both Kogan and QFF accounts

        • +2

@nightelves: The ozbargain loop-hole search begins.

        • @nightelves: Dont know about Kogan but Woolies didnt let me back when they used QFF. I would imagine the site checks and you can only register once.

  • +2

Don't forget 2% also at cashrewards.com.au - brings the USB cable down to 98 cents!

    • it's only for Kogan at ebay store?

    • +1

is the 0.02 worth the work? OF COURSE, THIS IS OZBARGAIN

      • +1

But then you're buying from ebay, not Kogan & might not get the 500 QFF pts.

  • +4

Bought my $1 USB cable , will know the truth in 8 weeks !

    • +1

      myself also, the wait begins.

      • Well you will get at least 1 QFF Point. I see on Kogan web site "Earn Qantas Points Earn 1 point per $1"

  • so i see kogan are also giving away qff points per dollar as well, does this mean you get 2x the points if you pay with a ff credit card? [1 point from kogan and 1 point from the issuer]

    • Yes obviously. 500 from kogan and whatever reward point your bank credit card gives you, doesnt mean it is QFF.

  • +6

LOL, their little ticker that shows what products are being bought is just streaming the USB cable. Didn't even have to search for it.

  • -2

I have QFF points I want to swap for Velocity if anyone is interested and saves you buying from Kogan :)

  • +5

use your Bankwest debit card to get 5 points for the transaction.

  • +6

buy before 1m cable OUT OF STOCK ;)

  • +1

Thanks OP. Maximised my points by paying with my Amex. So, in total 503 points for me :-)

  • Just bought it as well

  • +2

Lol, just lol…..the scrolling recent sales of $1 USB's

"People in Australia have just bought 5000 Micro USB cables, "costing" Kogan 2.5m QFF points"….and rising

    • And that's 5000 people with their details stored on Kogan's website ready and waiting for their next purchase, a lot of them subscribed to mailing lists advertising products, and all of them connected to QFF accounts proving to Qantas that the relationship is worthwhile, potentially meaning more free advertising to QFF customers.

There's a reason the $1 price is mentioned in the email, and why they didn't discourage it when it was posted on OzBargain, and why the page linked from the QFF points banner in the email goes to a page which has the $1 cable in the fourth row. This is great advertising for them.

      • +1

        Agree, everybody ends up benefiting.

  • +3

Basically $5 worth of points for a $1 purchase. Not bad. Spare usb cable never hurts as well.

    • just $3.33 worth of points
      (750 points can redeem $5)

      • I'm referring to the going rate for selling/buying Qantas points on here of around 1c per point.

  • Looking on the website and doesnt look like you can get anything for 500 points https://store.qantas.com/PostLogin.a2

    • That's true, 500 points on its own don't mean much. As people have mentioned, you get the best bang for your buck with QFF points when you use them for flight upgrade or reward flights, so it's better to accumulate slowly to say 10,000 points when you can redeem one way flight from Melbourne to Sydney, for example.

      • Or, buy something from their website for $9,500 and boom you'll have 10,000 points to redeem that one way free flight to Melbourne (plus taxes and fees).

  • Thanks Op. Good find.

  • Cheers Op,

Better be a good cable :)

  • Thanks OP. We will know in 8 weeks time.

  • Made my $1 order, now the wait begins..

  • Thanks OP :)

  • +1

Should I pay extra for dmg recover for the cable?

    • yes, but pay with credit card that gives you points

  • Thanks OP, just ordered the cable.

  • SWEET, thanks OP

  • Damn, was hoping you could do this more than once, to get cheap airfare, but no :(

  • Thanks OP

  • +2

Dealing with Kogan you may not receive the ordered item and also the qantas points

  • Ordered one will see if I get any points lol

  • too slow, missed it…. :(

  • just missed out :(

  • "The following items have just left our warehouse:
    Courier - International Post" 16/2/16.

  • Let's see how this turns out

  • Received the product. Now I hope I'll also get the points.
