    These are really dangerous

    • +1

no more dangerous than a knife and you dont post that comment on the knife deals

    • +6

This one has the added bonus of being Red Colour so the blood stains don't show.

      • It's also fourfty percent faster.

    • +1

Fortunately, you can reduce the risk to near zero by either
      a) using the pusher/hat/etc accessory
      b) using a mesh glove
      c) not being retarded

      • -4

        c) not being retarded

        That's quite offensive…

        • It's appropriate in the circumstances.

These are not "really dangerous" at all, unless you're an idiot, in which case walking outside is potentially lethal.

        • @Mic Cullen:

These are not "really dangerous" at all

          New York Times :

"The mandoline slicer, the immersion blender, the meat grinder and the food processor are just a few of the gadgets that are causing more frequent trips to the emergency room…"

          http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/16/dining/cooking-tools-add-c…

        • @jv: And here's the full quote, seeing as you're too intellectually dishonest to provide it yourself.

"These are not "really dangerous" at all, unless you're an idiot, in which case walking outside is potentially lethal."

I put the caveat in especially for you and your ilk.

And here's the full quote from the NYT, seeing as you've gone out of your way to misuse it, as well.

"The mandoline slicer, the immersion blender, the meat grinder and the food processor are just a few of the gadgets that are causing more frequent trips to the emergency room for people who rush things in the kitchen or don’t know how to handle the devices properly."

        • -1

          @Mic Cullen:

for people who rush things in the kitchen or don’t know how to handle the devices properly."

Lots of people rush or may not know how to use something the correct way. A lot of them would be smarter than you, so if they're all idiots, what does that make you?

        • +1

@jv: That's a stupid reply, even for you.

I thought a new wunder boner model was out for a sec.

    • Do you have a boner, OldBugger ?

      • +1

I didn't get one from that deal. I had one that lasted a good five years when I was younger but haven't had one for a while now. Might be time to get back into it as it was quite fun if I remember correctly.

  • +2

you will use knife at the end.

    Includes:

    1 x Borner Safety Hat

a safety hat…? for slicing vegies…..? jesus christ how much POWER does this thing have??!?

    • If you don't use the hat and your hand slips it's a quite dramatic injury….piece of cheese broke and the grater I was using was a microplane they don't have a hat / pusher. Tea towels absorb more bloodd than band aids.

      • so the hat isnt for your head??? :P

  • +1

Thanks, will definitely come in handy when pickling veggies and making side salads. Couldn't resist adding a $20 Global Microsharp and $19.95 Betty Bossi to save postage costs.

    • I got the 3 wheel microsharp.
      2.5 times more expensive……I don't know how I didn't see that.
(i'll probably only end up using two wheels)

  • Quite good if you're doing a large quantity, particularly for julienne. Bit of a pain for a small quantity though. I got the V6 recently which is huge. This one would be fine.

  • +1

The V slicers are actually shockingly good products. They outperform my De Buyer that cost ten times this.

Unless you manage to get your hands on one of the Shun mandolines, this is the way to go.

  • Always use a saftey hat when you get a boner.

    • Borner not boner….

      • +2

Sold your humour at the garage sale, did you?

        • Wasn't sure if you misread the brand …. would make for different to comes if you went into a store and said "I'm after a borner" vs "in after a boner"

I had to double check , thought it was boner … need better glasses or different font.

  • I can get a Benriner (Japanese) from amazon.com for similar money. Would be nice to know how this is better.

I can already see some advantages

  • Hi guys, I just want to warn everybody about recent credibility of Your Home Depot. I made a lot of purchases from them and they were all good. But in my last purchase they didn't send the product. They don't answer the emails and phones. I think there is a problem in there. If you look at the Facebook page and reviews in internet, you can see the problem. So be carefull.

    • I bought from home depot yesterda. Evening……albeit from eBay.

Was dispatched first thing this morning with tracking.

  • I'm buying one cos it's the first time I've seen that high a score on 'productreview' website. Normally it's just full of whingers!!

  • FYI it's 50c cheaper with 20% EBAY Discount http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Borner-V5-Power-Slicer-Red-/32166…

    • I'm picking mine up but I'm sure that's useful for those who can do that (or not worth it).

  • Hi Rep, trying to check out, and it seems like the item is out of stock?

    • Just checking with the warehouse on remaining stock krunchy. They have been very popular today. An update will be provided as soon as known. Thank-you.

  • This has been very popular. We are now sold out of this item.

Also available is the Borner V1 slicer including a storage box for $23.95

    http://www.yourhomedepot.com.au/borner-v1-slicer-white.html

  • Not in too much a hurry but does seem a handy tool.

Borner V series, is it all the same parts / size/shape, or any important advantage to this unit against the original(V1)?. In for a future clearance.

edit: noted in V5 demo self standing for efficient storage.

  • Darn it
    I wanted the v5

  • I had elected pickup from Castle Hill but just received an email that the item has been shipped via Auspost?? The tracking number makes no sense either. A whole bunch of deliveries to different addresses by the looks of it.

    I'm confused

    http://auspost.com.au/track/track.html?id=TS90000000011523

    • All sorted. Someone just called and said it's ready to be collected.
