FREE Tickets to Advanced Screenings of DEADPOOL (MEL, SYD, BRIS, ADL)

2813

Mod:

MESSAGE FROM TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX Please note that all tickets obtained via this site and comment thread are invalid and/or illegally procured. While most of the sessions posted here were never real (as a few comments have already confirmed), any patrons attending cinemas with illegally procured tickets may be subject to investigation. Employee at Fox

We have removed links from this post and you should consider any tickets received from this deal not valid for use.

Got sent this by a movie industry friend. There are several screenings in what looks like Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide on various dates.

Paste the URL : Mod: URL Removed into your browser and change the last 2 digits to find screenings still available. Then just put in an email address and BAM!

George St. Sydney: Mod: URL Removed
Maroochydore: Mod: URL Removed
Chermside, Brisbane: Mod: URL Removed

etc.

power user update:

please note comment from previous deal:

You really should tell people that these are dodgy links - I went last night using our emailed tickets to the Southbank session. Our names were not on the door and it was an event specifically for Yelp users. I don't know where you got that link from but it wasn't valid. Luckily some people hadn't turned up so we squeezed in but it was pretty embarrassing.

    • Is there still a ticket. Desperate just for one ticket for chermside thankyou

      • Gone sorry.

  • If anyone can't make George street pm me!

  • fark it ill just buy a ticket normally

  • +17

I am currently at Chapel Street working so after my work I will go and ask the cinema crew to check if the ticket I got is valid or not.

I will update you guys about the outcome if they are going to honor it. Its better to check now because it can save the trip for fellow Ozbargainers.

    • +8

I just went to Village Cinema South Yara at Chapel Street and showed the ticket email to the Crew member she was surprised and she said and I quote word to word - " I can't check if the ticket is valid because its not in my system yet but it looks fine all you have to do is come to the show and show this to podium they will scan it and you will be ok to go."

I guess now there is one way to find out is to attend the show lol.

      Fingers Crossed. Good luck Ozbargainers.

      • +1

For what session did you check? Also, thanks for doing this.

        • +1

The morning session 10.00am at 4th February Thursday and your welcome happy to help.

        • @YousufEDGE:
Considering what mods have said and what the cinema has said are you still going? I have the same time/date.

        • @scifigirl21:
Apparently the Barcode is removed from the email if it shows up I might give it a try I mean it looks like there are 50/50 chance that they will accept the ticket and I live in Broadmeadows I don't know I am confused.

        • @YousufEDGE: how'd you calculate those odds?

        • +2

          @gilbarc:
Hahaha 50% because the Cinema crew said that the Barcode looks valid and other 50% because one of the fox representative said that they won't do it. Thats how simple mathematics.

Where "X" is Cinema crew and "Y" is fox studio representative.

          X+Y/2100=100%
          Where just X/2
100= just 50% same calculations goes for Y as well. Hope it helps :D

  • some people might have been to similar advance screening movie fantastic 4 couple months ago, i dont think they can tell which one is from ozb or not, unless they cancel all the tickets..

  • I appreciate the OP trying to do the right thing by the OZB community, however this shouldn't be considered a deal, as it is closer to stealing.

    • +3

      Like the Sony $30 vouchers?

    • +1

OZBargain will include everything such as good deal, price match, website glitch, free gift, etc :D

  • +3

They've just kill all the links.

    http://www.foxrsvp.com.au/ is dead.

  • +2

Can people who got tickets to the dates before the 10th please post if there are issues getting in? My son and I are going to go on the 10th anyway - we don't mind embarrassment but it would be nice to see what we are up against.

    MESSAGE FROM TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX

Please note that all tickets obtained via this site and comment thread are invalid and/or illegally procured. While most of the sessions posted here were never real (as a few comments have already confirmed), any patrons attending cinemas with illegally procured tickets may be subject to investigation.

    • +35

Can you let us know exactly which section of the Crimes Act was breached by the Ozbargainers who used your site to register for tickets, making their actions illegal?

    • +4

Didn't even get a ticket but I doubt it is illegal. It is just the poor quality of the site's booking system imo.

    • +4

Can you provide proof of this? I'm very curious they'd call it illegal - sneaky sure, but no laws have been broken.

    • +11

      A: not illegal.
      B: All sessions are real.
C: patrons will not be subject to investigation.

    • +9

This is just someone trolling. Probably Orpheus. If it was real then we would have gotten a legitimate email to the same address as the ticket.

      • It's amazing how delusional some people can become when they really want something for free so badly. This is the dark side of OzBargain.

    • +1

A different account was created a couple of hours to send a similar message.
They didn't even bother to make the username convincing :/

    • Please note that this account has been verified and is from Fox.

  • +4

So is this going ahead or is it cancelled?

  • +2

I am gonna rock up and see what happens. If anything I wil just go to the local if nothing is happening. No harm done except killing some brain cells :D

  • +11

The tickets for the V energy drink promo sessions are still valid. The screenings are going ahead and they are sold out everywhere. If you have a V promo ticket from this bargain. It will be valid.

    http://www.v-energy.com.au/world-of-v/deadpool

    • all showing sold out :(

    • Which dates/times are they?

  • +2

has the barcode in the email disappeared for anyone else?

    • Yeah, it has. Very interesting…

    • +1

It seems the barcode was linked to the website, which is currently down.

      • Yep, even the fox header in the email. Will check again once the site is back up

    • +1

Yep disappeared for me too, thankfully I printed it out earlier but it's not looking good now :(

still give it a chance though.

      • I'd think they wouldn't 'issue' any of those barcodes to the cinema? Mine was a V one, so I guess the whole V thing would be cancelled? Can't find anything about it on V's Facebook :(

        • heh I will still hold out hope that it was the other way around, the cinema issuing the barcode to the promoter. It's a decent 30 minutes from me but I'll take the risk because I'm sure I can find something else to do up there to make it worthwhile…at least I hope. Mine is a 'Deadpool V preview' but I didn't follow the V link only the one provided here. I'll keep my fingers crossed overnight.

        • Going by the code in the email, the barcode appears to be being generated from the foxrsvp website…

          www. foxrsvp .com.au/BarcodeImageHandler.ashx?invitationKey=13DigitNumber&width=250&height=110&foregroundColour=000000&backgroundColour=FFFFFF

so I'm guessing it'll not be coming back again…

        • +3

          @mattson:

Use a barcode generator to reproduce the barcode

          https://www.barcodesinc.com/generator/index.php

    • cheeky f****r's - I suppose that's one way to kill the deal… if no one has bar codes, it's unlikely they'll be able to get into the session.. anyone know if Chrome caches a copy…?

    • wouldn't that hurt all genuine ticket holders as well though.

  • +8

Media reviewers…biggest load of suck holes it seems.

Basically, they work for free or pittance just to get tickets and be wined and dined so they can tell everyone how important they are. Really, they're just advertising boards that would probably get blacklisted if they review any big movie poorly.

Ozb users should review the movies, might get an unbiased point of view.

    • AGREE! and one of them was complaining here on this tread earlier…

    • IMDB overall score is a great indication if you would like a movie. 9 times out of 10 I agree with the score a movie is sitting on.

  • +1

Nooooooo. Ruined a good thing op this loophole has been around for a while now :(

    • Blame V

  • -3

would love a pair for chermside if anyone has any spares please let me know :)

  • This is not a bargain or a deal.
These tickets are for media, press and friends + family of Fox. Taking these tickets will not guarantee you a seat at the session and it appears all the currently issued tickets have been voided as most the intended invitees did not even have time to get the tickets that this event was held for.

  • Tickets obtained from FoxRSVP will not be honoured.

In light of this, we have

    • Removed all links in OP
    • Put a mod note linking to message from Fox.
    • Keep post published so members can discuss any issues including any pending actions from Fox.

We ask that you refrain from linking to the their site.

    • How did you find that out? All I can see is a post from someone above claiming to be associated. I have not gotten any email for example to say it's been cancelled. Has it somehow been officially confirmed? Is even the V promo tickets received from the link that V shared on Facebook invalid as well?

      • As above, we have confirmed that both accounts are employees of Fox. We have received complaints both on this thread and in discussions privately.

You should ask questions directly to them as we don't have the answer.

  • Well this seemed to good to be true anyway

  • what????? really not valid?

  • That solves that then.

  • +3

Oh well. You win some, you lose some.

Still find it funny that Fox are saying the tickets were illegally procured by us and we would be investigated if we presented. Jokers.

    • -7

they were illegally procured - just because they left the front door open - doesnt give anybody the right to walk in and take what they want.

Tickets were nominated for specific family/customers/competition winners; not for anybody to snatch up.

      • +4

While you raise a valid point, I don't recall the page specifying it was for specific people. One could argue that it appeared to be open slather. In this case it would suggest it would be a civil matter, in which Fox would need to prove it in court before it could be deemed illegal.

        • The page I looked at contained no content or fine print identifying a subset of the population as the only authorised users of that site.

        • @moooooooo:

the page saying it was specific people was on another landing page that everybody didnt see..

the fact that the links had to be juked was a testament to this.

Its like those FB promotions on here that say "like" to get free XXX - what ozb people do is have someone hotlink the final insert details page so people dont have to "like" at all…

      • +5

The page had no such conditions.
If you left a stall by the side of the road that said "free apples" but only told some people about the stall, it isn't illegal and you can't blame people who come across the stall for taking apples.
That is basically what they did with public, easy to guess URLs

I hope fox decide to fix their website on the back of this.

        • The only difference is that it wasnt a sign on the roadside that said free
it was a specific address meant for a specific group of people that it was targeted to.

It like there was a sign in someones front window of their house saying free apples
and what you did was jiggle the front door and realize it was unlocked - but HEY FREE! lets get it!
The sign saying free wasnt meant for public viewing. The fact the public could view it is a separate issue.

      • +1

You’re getting negged even though you are 100% correct.

Its correct that Fox stuffed up with a dodgy poorly made website, but that doesnt mean people are actually entitled to the tickets. Its like if someone left their door open to their house, you can walk in and take their belongings, but its still theft no matter how you try and spin it.

        • Its not theft at all

Theft would be going into the house to steal

But if you left a note to the owner and asked for a TV, and the owner sent you a TV to the address you left, then how can you argue that its theft?

The difference here is that FOX did not have to email you the ticket, but they did.

        • @seijai:
The email reply is automatic - there has been deals here in the past where automatic checkouts were processed but were later refunded after error was detected… Its the same thing

My analogy with the note in the window is correct.
Just because you spy a note in somebody's front window saying "free stuffs"
doesnt give you the right to jiggle the door finding its open and then take said free stuffs.

Then again - whats been funny to me is that I knew this thing would blow up at the start so I didnt even both to try get tickets. But the attitude and reply's of the fox rep's has also surprised me just like a few others have made note of.

  • +16

Again, the initial post by me was for the "V energy drink promo" which WAS open slather and FULLY publicly advertised for ANYONE to get tickets from the Foxrsvp site. It was linked to from V's own webpage (http://www.v-energy.com.au/world-of-v/deadpool). I know not all of the links available for sessions were for this promo but that is hardly my fault. I am still going to the premiere on Friday with the ticket I got from this deal. Do your worst Fox.

    • -1

poor FOX of not honoring.. maybe they want us to pirate instead of watching and tell friends about the movie and how generous is fox (cheap advertising)

    • -25

Hi Todes. That you chose to exploit the RSVP links and share that information here is entirely your "fault" so we have therefore made the decision to cancel your tickets.

FYI all tickets obtained via any means other than intended are also in the process of being cancelled. Security personnel will be on hand at all screenings to ensure illegitimate ticket holders are not permitted entry.

Deadpool is in cinemas from 11th February. We promise it'll be worth the wait!

      • +13

Steady on there matey. I posted links to the V promotion which was made public by V. I got my tickets through that promotion. Was that not a public screening? I await your apology.

        • -14

Quite right Todes, you haven't described or instructed anybody to manipulate the website. Apologies for the confusion. Your tickets will of course be honoured.

The final 2 paragraphs of my above reply remain correct.

      • +17

I promise I will never watch fox movies in cinemas. Only from Other production house. That's what you get when threatening people.. So unprofessional, you should thank us to discovering your super easy website exploit..

You want to investigate all of us? Security personels watching? ? Wow.. Are we terrorist?

  • +1

    Eh, easy come easy go!

  • So bummed about missing out on a ticket. As other users put it with critics and their look at me affairs hahaha totally couldn't agree more. I'm definitely not like that and love amateur reviewing movies for IMDB as soon as they're released or just onto social media like facebook. I'm not at all associated with media advertising or movie critic sections for other media platforms and totally think this was poor form for fox to do this,,, to the real word of mouth critics. I'm an avid movie watcher like OCD about movies and the industry and will start and finish a conversation because I'm obsess with them (probably seen more movies than you, who ever is reading this and I can guarantee that) so I know my fair share of critiques put towards a movie. Wish there was a site to sign up on advance tickets, I'm not at all fussed by them being free as I'd easily pay to see a movie in advanced session to write an informed opinion or short review before the general public decides if it's good or not.

  • -6

No one is ever going to judge me and make me feel bad for entering this one. To those who say it is stealing, you can go jump. If you found $20 sitting on the side of the road, would you pick it up? Of course you would, and don't try and say you would hand it in to the police, otherwise you are not an OzBargainer, but an impostor. You know it will never get back to the person who lost it, so you know you would put it in your wallet instead. It's called Karma, and Fox got the Karma due to them. The fact that they just cancelled all the tickets just goes to show that they have no interest in the fans of their movies, just the good reviews from those people that can be bought. It's business, and the number 1 rule in business is to get away with anything you can. "Beg, steal, or borrow," was what I was always told. That's the only way to stay ahead and make exorbitant amounts of money. I would have preferred that Fox laugh at what happened and humbly ask for the tickets back or put on extra screenings, but they chose the nasty route. And don't tell me the V tickets were for reviewers. They were giveaways, and there was no criteria for who got them, so Fox have basically screwed them over as well. In the end, the tickets are no longer valid, and I accept that, but don't ever try to guilt me into thinking I did something wrong. No, it is YOU who are doing something wrong by applying your judgmental opinions upon me.

    • +4

      Chill out.

    • When's the book coming out?

  • So what's happening with those of us who got the tickets from the V promo before this deal was even posted?

    • Does your email still work? Ask V on their Facebook page maybe?

      • email doesnt work but I have a screenshot of the barcode from the site.

    • -10

Those tickets obtained legitimately will of course be honoured. We can detect who obtained tickets legitimately and illegitimately so genuine ticket holders will not be inconvenienced.

      • +8

Fraud is a rather big accusation.

I know that their news division is pathetic, but it seems to be apparent in other departments as well. These guys (News Corp) are a cancer to the world.

      • +7

So you are claiming that you can "detect" which tickets are from the Ozbargain links and which ones are not … But yet you still feel the need to repeatedly spam the thread to tell us not to try to use the tickets we claimed or face "investigation" by super-secret security? Sounds legit. Think I will take my chances with the ticket I printed out.

      • no worries. If you're going to be such a jerk about, I'm sure people will be more than willing to pirate it.

Gee, does your boss know you're posting here?

  • +21

I love it that Fox are pretending that this is some sort of super secret URL not meant to be shared around or for invited members only when it has been published publicly ALL the time.

    http://www.v-energy.com.au/world-of-v/deadpool

    https://www.facebook.com/events/1779789112246107/permalink/1…

The URL has clearly been designed (or at least used) as a competition entry system, some of which may very well have been private, but many of which were public — in which the attendees info is collected solely by foxrsvp.com.au.

And its no-one's fault but Fox's that the work experience kid who knocked up the page went for an easily-guessable sequential integer value rather than a Guid as the primary key and no one thought about the potential for "abuse"…if you can call publishing the URL online the same way it has always been published as "abuse".

    • +1

After that reply, Vistor2016 was never to be seen again…

  • According to Facebook responses they (V) are re sending tickets out. I'm assuming they can tell who submitted through their webpage?

    • Doubt it, most likely they will just give everyone who signed up using the V sessions a new valid ticket.

  • +1

Stupid Fox must be hiring an intern for the web job

  • +27

Wow, thanks Visitor2016, thank you for making me realise how arrogant Fox studio is!

I do not mind you taking the tickets back, but I was expecting something like:
"Sorry to all participants from Ozbargain website, it was our mistake and negligence when designing our website, which made it to be accessible for all general public to view. However, we do feel we have the need to cancel and return all those tickets to the rightful event winners. Hope you guys understand!"

But no, you just have to threaten us with your abusive language, and blame it all on us. Really, thanks for your comments, I won't be going to Fox studio's movies in cinema ever again.

    Have a nice day.

    • +14

It always amazes me how people who are so bad at their jobs can still keep them in an environment of such high unemployment. This person is absolutely terrible at PR and they don't deserve the job at all.

    • +19

They should be thanking ozbargain. Countless people have no doubt been getting free tickets for years by using this loophole and keeping it to themselves. In fact, they should have made a statement about it, along with a joke or two, and reaped the free PR and goodwill. Wouldn't have cost much to just let everyone who got tickets go and then implement a better system, probably offset by good PR after contacting some newspapers to write about it.

But then again, they are probably all dinosaurs worried about looking incompetent (which someone definitely is!).

      Tomorrow's headline:
HACKERS stole thousands of movie tickets.
-tougher laws for e-criminals is needed says broke single mum losing out when the movie ticket she won was STOLEN.

  • +3

The two accounts, are you son of fox ceo? Why so much hatred poured to this forum? Just because few free screenings gone wasted? Will that make a dent in fox cash flow this year?

And one of you seems to hate user Todes so much ("That you chose to exploit the RSVP links and share that information here is entirely your "fault").
I think Todes need to get police protection.

  • -2

Well, I was never planning on going to see Deadpool, and now I feel as if I MUST go and see it in the cinemas, free ticket or not. Damn you Fox, this was all a long-winded marketing ruse!

  • -4

Can't believe how people are reacting. I've seen similar reactions from my 3-year-old brother; he gets caught doing something "bad" and instead of apologizing or accepting the fact he was wrong, he freaks out and gets mad at us for telling him off.

The difference is he didn't know any better because he's 3 whereas most of you guys know the difference between "hey, here's a link for free stuff, go crazy!" And "hey, if you change a number on the link, you're directed to a different page that is totally NOT the link we gave out to the public"

a few of you on here went on the V FB page and got the tickets there, legitimately.

More than a few of you didn't get any of the V promo tickets and figured out that you could get tickets from other links. Some links being specifically for Media and Friends and Family of Fox.

Instead of saying "oh tough luck they're not honoring these tickets that weren't for me" some of you have the audacity to act like Fox OWE you those tickets that weren't for you in the first place.

You can argue "bad website, bad customer service, blah blah blah" but in the end most of you knew that you weren't legitimately obtaining the tickets and even worried about whether the tickets would be honored.

I'm all for a good bargain but not at the expense of others.

    • +15

Most of the posts regarding the tickets becoming invalid have actually been "oh tough luck":

InfraRed - Well this seemed to good to be true anyway
Spackbace - Eh, easy come easy go!
justmkiike - That solves that then.
tomsco - Oh well, You win some, you loose some.

The majority of posts aimed at FOX are not about them taking back the tickets, they are complaints about the blunt and snarky responses by the FOX PR representatives:

"That you chose to exploit the RSVP links and share that information here is entirely your "fault", any patrons attending cinemas with illegally procured tickets may be subject to investigation etc"

Yes, we shouldn't have had access to these tickets but at the end of the day, this isn't that different to any previous store pricing error, where people, here on OzBargain have bought items for cents. Did you see these companies intimidate with possible litigation? They just remove the listing and issue a refund (if even that!).

Luminair hit the nail on the head with their response:

I do not mind you taking the tickets back, but I was expecting something like:

"Sorry to all participants from Ozbargain website, it was our mistake and negligence when designing our website, which made it to be accessible for all general public to view. However, we do feel we have the need to cancel and return all those tickets to the rightful event winners. Hope you guys understand!"

But no, you just have to threaten us with your abusive language, and blame it all on us.

      • Well said. Dr dynamite must be fox fanboi. The one acting like kid is the fox!

I never remember any store made mistake at ozb and bring security personnel to investigate the "criminals"! Gee… Just for watching a movie! If this is about $15,000 gold apple watch, i understand .

      • +3

Well said and I completely agree with how they should have reacted instead of the threats. I suppose I was just really bothered by those that were sounding like they deserved the tickets. Also quite bothered by people who were commenting that they clearly knew the tickets wouldn't be honored but were still going to put up a fight to get into the screenings.

And no, I'm not a Fox fanboy.. I prefer paramount or universal films.

Sorry for sounding like an ass

        • -1

          all cool…
          but
i wish i can bring some bikies triad and mafia to the cinema using email with valid barcode… maybe they can be friend with fox "security personnels"
