In the description it says 'South Pacific Cruise'. This is to Moreton Island which is not in the South Pacific.

    • +2

Itinerary shows 09 Mar AT SEA. Once it goes on the ocean side of Moreton Island, that is the South Pacific Ocean.

'South Pacific Cruise' sounds far more interesting than a lap out to sea, come back into Bay for a stop at Moreton for a day, then back to Brissie. My thought on that.

Moreton is the third largest sand island in the world with massive dunes, smaller in area than the next island just to the South & largest Fraser further to the north. I assume there may be tours at an extra cost.

      • I'm not questioning the truth behind the description. It's just a little deceiving as South Pacific cruises are usually to islands like New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Fiji. Seems like they're just using that description to pull people in.

        • Yes. Seeing the description by itself in this deal, most people would expect exotic tropical islands.

But as a category of cruises amongst other categories like Caribbean cruises, Mediterranean cruises, etc in a catalog… well South Pacific Cruise is correct.

Note: The cut & paste category as a "South Pacific Cruise" has been replaced by "Itinerary: Brisbane, Moreton Island, Brisbane". That's correct, but doesn't sound as appealing.

        • @Infidel: Should be a Coral Sea cruise.

        • @MITM:
But where's all the coral they promised ;-) Coral Sea is simply part of the South Pacific Ocean. Ocean cruises sound grander than sea cruises…

As a fair amount of the time is spent in Moreton Bay… maybe it is a better described as a Moreton Bay cruise, as that is the only stop over. I don't think that would sell as well ;-)

("Moreton Bay cruises" are regularly advertised for under $50 with island stopover, a free beer or wine then around $2 each, snorkelling equipment, & lunch including prawns. I've taken a $29 "cruise". Ok, but nothing like the value of this deal.)

Its just a cruise category that was cut & pasted, and has been removed from this deal's description.

The Executive Chef is from India & the Food is apparently good too !

  • So I book the cruise through P&O's website, me and 3 mates (all want separate beds)… Booking gets processed and I log into CruiseControl, only room configuration is Twin?! They will be getting a call from me tomorrow!

    • thats what this company would have sorted out first for you. it is only a few bucks more.

  • Question: I have 2 and half years old son who wants to travel with my wife and me. Do I need to get a room for 3? He sleeps with us most of the times though.

    • unfortunately, yes you must get a room for 3.

  • Brisbane people …
If you have always wanted to visit beautiful Newcastle, here is another cheapie ($55 pp/per day) on offer during this sale:

    Itinerary:

    04 Mar 2016 BRISBANE

    • Pacific Aria is their new boat ? How old is Pacific Dawn ?

      • +1

Having been on the Pacfic Aria, it's not new, just new paint (in some places). It's like 20 years old from Holand I think from memory.

        • Correct.

The Aria was recently purchased and significantly renovated by P&O. (yes, it was previously owned by HAL)

Most/all of the renovation money was spent on the outside/common areas of the ship - pools, bars, restaurants etc. The cabins themselves received little of the renovation love.

        • +1

          @CruiseAgency:
Was poorly done imo. To give you an idea, when we got on, there were"P&O" signs bluetacked on the lifts. After a day these had fallen down and the ships old name was underneath.

        • @PainToad:

Yes - there has been some negative feedback (as well as good) for this ship.

What I heard is that the Renos on the main deck were actually VERY good, but this was at the expense of the cabins themselves.

Still, at $55 pp / per day, this is a CHEAP and affordable quick getaway. A chance to relax and unwind for $220 - pretty hard to beat at that price!

        • +1

          @CruiseAgency:
I actually didn't mind the cabins, was expecting much worse. But my expectations where based on where Leonardo DiCaprio was staying on the Titanic, as I'd never been on a cruise before and had heard P&O was very bogan.

Still was a great holiday, we got a really good price.

Just don't want people expecting a "new" ship.

        • @PainToad:

For those looking for a "new" ship … I would recommend the (Royal Caribbean) Ovation Of The Seas ship.

Completely brand new, and absolutely stunning.

Of course, you going to need to pay a bit more than $55 pp / per day to experience it ;)

She lands in Sydney for the first time 15 December 2016.

Here are some details for those interested:

    booze is a rip off

also tip for cleaner which is compulsory i think?

Alcohol prices are reasonable, cheaper than a night out. Cheapest bottles of wine are ~$25, tins of XXXX are ~$5.50.
      Gratuities are included.

      • @heatseeker424 is correct.

There is no extra charge for tips for any P&O cruise - all gratuities are included in the price.

Alcohol prices are very reasonable, certainly not inflated prices - about the same as prices in a city pub —- beer = $6 - $7.50.

  • Thanks for those who have booked so far. Much appreciated.
