Samsung 40" Full HD TV, UA40J5100AW - $579 @ Dick Smith, $595 @ TGG

50

I'm new to Australia and the site so I've been looking for a 32" tv since I've been here. I found this 40" tv instead on Dick Smith for only an additional $5. Delivery seems to be about $40 from looking at the Sydney area.

I'll just using it for gaming mostly so please let me know in the comments if you think it's a good fit for that (regarding input lag etc).

Edit: Some updates - I can't seem to find any stock in store.

It's $595 on The Good Guys and they won't price match against DS - "Currently we are not accepting 30 Day Price Guarantee and Price Beat Claims against Dick Smith due to the business going into Voluntary Receivership."

  • I'd love to hear other retailers price match DSE!

  • Nice TV if they still have stocks.

  • Sammy screens are very good.
That's all I have to say.

Welcome to Australia - buy the TV from the Good Guys.

$16 isn't worth the risk, headache and all else that goes with buying from a company under administration / receivership.

If you are walking into a Dick Smith store to buy it, then that should be fine. Online is a risk.

    • Thanks.

Ya I've only noticed now regarding the receivership issue.

My question is does this tv only output in 50hz? There seems to be conflicting reports about tvs in Australia and their refresh rate.

I have a similar model (UA32J5500) which is basically the 32" version of the same TV - got it for $529 from Myer http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/s15-electrical-sale/sams…

As far as i can tell it just does 50hz, there is no option to turn on the "motionflow" or whatever they call it to go to 120,200 or 240 hz. Which i am actually thankful for, I don't like the effect of the TV adding all the tweening frames

Good price for the 40" though, not much more than what i just paid for the 32

No kidding :) all of these tv's will only do 1080p at 50/60hz, some will only do 30hz at 4k. Each brand has their own software for "smoothing"

        • If they can do 60hz, I'm fine with that.

          @tokeeffe9: it does 50, with upscale/software at 100
