What is Quick Charge 2.0?

Tests have shown that a 3500mAh battery can be charged from 0% to 60% in only 30 minutes using Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 technology.

If your device is not compatiable with QC, you're still able to charge it quickly (but not as fast as QC) with the VoltIQ technology included in each port. VoltIQ is able to detect the charging protocol used in your device to provide the fastest possible charge without the risk of overheating, overcharging and short circuiting etc.

The 6 pack of MicroUSB cables are not like a lot of other cheap Micro USB cables found on the internet, as they're made from high quality materials and are able to provide faster charging and data syncing of up to 480Mbps with error-free data transmission. They make a perfect companion for any Quick Charge 2.0 phone and charger.

Some of the Quick Charge 2.0 Compatible models include:

  • Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung GALAXY Note Edge
  • LG G4, LG G Flex2, LG V10,
  • HTC One M9, HTC One M8, HTC One Mini, HTC Desire Eye, HTC One A9, One Remix
  • Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, Z4, Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet, Z4 Tablet
  • Google Nexus 6
  • Motorola Droid Turbo, Motorola Moto X, Moto X Pure
  • ASUS Zenfone 2 Series
  • Xiaomi Mi3, Mi4, Mi Note
  • ZTE Axon Pro

Other devices like the iPhone, iPad, Nexus series etc will benefit from the VoltIQ technology.

  • Will the chargers ship today?

    • No. GB gets a lot of orders world wide every day so it'll take a couple of days to process.

  • I'm heading overseas to Japan later this year, is it possible to get the charger with the AU plug, and an additional US plug?

    • +3

Just talked to them via chat after placing an order and they were able to add a US and an AU plug.

      • really? did it cost you a fee?

        • No extra charge.

  • i bought mine couple of months back, and still haven't received it.

    • I would have lodged a Paypal dispute by this stage, hopefully GB can still accommodate you.

      • You should contact the store or store rep before you go launching into a long Paypal dispute. I've sent lead_org a PM.

        • Always..

  • Can the QC port be used to charge apple devices? So can I have 5 apple devices charging off this at once? I know there is probably a cheaper model that would allow this but it would be handy to have the QC port for Android visitors wanting to charge up.

    • The QC port can be used with any device as QC will only activate if it detects the QC chip. You can have 5 apple devices running off it too.

  • A general question - is this unit good to charge any/all USB based units/gadgets?
Eg - Smart watches, cameras, sports equipments, RC helicopters etc…

    • +1

Yep. I charge my smart watch and quadcopter with it.

      • Thank you, bought one!

    • +1

These devices are more power supplies than chargers. They simply supply 5V up to a certain current (ignoring the QC stuff). The actual charging circuitry is in the device itself. The charger doesn't push the current, the device draws the current (keeping it simple). So as long as the device's charging circuit is properly designed it should not be a problem.

Also I'm ignoring VoltIQ as it is not explained well anywhere that I've see apart from it being "faster" somehow by "detecting your device". It just seems to detect the current drawn perhaps although how it changes anything is unknown and how it can charge faster is also unknown.

      • Devices like Apple and Samsung can sense the type of charger connected to it and draw different current depending on the charger ID. VoltIQ just tells the device to draw the maximum current it can support. I'm not too sure regarding the rest of the fast charging technology in it other than it does charge my ipad quicker than original charger. Its most noticeable in the air2

        • I don't think Samsungs can do this but Apples did have basic resistor to sense the charger.

How does "VoltIQ 'tell the device'"? The answer is that it can't.

        • +1

@Shonky: it continually monitors current draw and changes charger ID till it senses Max current drawn? this technique inherently tells devices to charge to its full speed.

Try use an apple charger to charge a galaxy tab. You will find out won't charge. This charges everything I've tried to its rated current on any port. Some other chargers specify a dedicated Samsung or ipad port for charging.

  • How fast does it charge the OnePlus One using the non-QC ports? As fast as the stock charger?

    • +1

Yeah, it would be as fast as the stock charger.

      • +1

Tested and it's just as fast. Awesome deal!

  • +1

I got my first purchase from Geek Buying delivered today, the 4 port QC2.0 car charger.
It's awesome! Best $10AUD I've ever spent and only took a touch over 2 weeks to come.

  • Decided to order this, and the coupon code still works. Score!

    • +1

Looks like we forgot to set the expiry on the coupons themselves. I'll just go remove the expiry from the deal…

  • Bought a pack of their microUSB cables recently.
Amazing price & appearance of quality.

But I SWEAR they generally don't work. And if they do, they're not allowing the full 2.1amp get from my high quality Belkin charger to my S4/S6/OnePlusX etc. Change the cable, and the phones charge FAST.

    • Mine from a number of different charger purchases and one box set purchase previously seem to have no problem doing 1.7A at least (measured with a YZX monitor so pretty accurate). I think that's about the limit of my S5.

  • hi i bought a Tronsmart usb cable pack with you last time, two of my cables have bent on the port I feel ripped off isnt this meant to be a good brand? why is it worse then 1 dollar usb? I have only used them couple times to and not a heavy user so NO Idea why they have bent.

    • Seems to be a dodgy batch with the old ones. I haven't seen any complaints about the new ones yet.

      • then can I get a replacement or something?

        • You would need to email [email protected] with your order number. It might take a couple of days for a response due to the Chinese New Year.

        • @Clear: WOW. So I contacted them they told me to take a picture of what was wrong and everything THEN SAID after I did everything.

Actually Geekbuying does not provide warranty for accessories.

then give me a full refund I wasted my time taking pictures and explaining what's wrong with it. Wow rip me off why not. Will not shop here again this is so wrong

        • @shadowrukia: I'm only marketing. I have nothing to do with customer support.

So after you supplied evidence of the fault they said they won't refund?

        • @Clear: yes after they ASKED me for pictures and evidence they say ''Actually Geekbuying does not provide warranty for accessories.'' which is just bull

just opened a paypal dispute, so this is a warning if you get something faulty from these guys they will rip you off or try to.

        • @shadowrukia: That's not right. I'll speak to them about it.

It wouldn't hurt sending Tronsmart an email at [email protected] and see what they have to say.

        • @Clear: had to open up a claim .

        • @Clear: no help from these guys, they never emailed me back! so wrong I should report them to fair trading. they ant allowed to do this in AU. Anyway paypal gave me back my money, shows their doggy in support. never shopping here EVER AGAIN. warning to others if you get faulty stuff just get ready to open a paypal claim

        • @shadowrukia: They were closed from the 8th until 14th due to Chinese New Year. That would be why. The other problem would be that once a Paypal dispute has been escalated to a claim, they're not able to click the refund button.

        • @Clear: thats just bull. they were emailing me till after they said no they wont honor it pretty much and never emailed me back. after that I opened up a claim..

        • -1

@shadowrukia: I'm just saying that most staff were not working during that time. Every single contact of mine was not there.

It's unfortunate that it had to come to a Paypal dispute, but at least you got a refund in the end.

        • -1

@Clear: I am pretty sure its unfortunate I was treated this way by your staff .

        • @shadowrukia: I'm not an employee sorry. Like some of the other people on Ozbargain, I post deals on their behalf.

  • Thanks Clear! Mine arrived yesterday! I love it!

Nice and compact, perfect for travelling, and turbo charging works great! :)

I forgot to go through cashrewards to get that little bit of extra off! haha oh well.

    Cheers,
    Loz

  • So what is the difference between VoltIQ and Qualcomm quick charge? aren't they both do quick charge?

    • QC actually talks between the device and the charge to "negotiate" a voltage (and probably current). The main thing with QC is that it can run higher voltages which allows faster power transfer.

VoltIQ, is not very well documented at all but seems to be some method of detecting the device's current draw and allowing that current. However, why it can't just allow full current all the time escapes me. It might be useful with devices that try to be too smart like Apple and detect the charger.

  • Looks like my 2nd Geekbuying order is gonna take a fair bit longer than last time.
The email said that they posted it on the 26th Jan, however tracking says that they didnt receive the item until the 29th.
A week and a half later and its still floating around in China.

    • What does the tracking actually say? Once it's departed China tracking is usually not updated.

  • 016-02-01 14:09 The center of Fuzhou, leave

So I guess it's on its way to Australia then?

    • +1

Yep that's correct. You should be getting it next week then.

      • Awesome! Thanks Clear.

  • I made two separate orders on the 18th for these… one arrived on Friday, though still waiting for the second one… here's hoping it arrives!

    Device seems pretty good though.

  • +1

My charger has arrived. Very impressed with it - fast charging, small, generate little to no heat, seems well put together. Awesome deal!

  • Glad i got in and got a couple more of these coming just before the offer expired.

Could easily get more for friends and family, any chance another bundle or offer of similar value might appear soon?

    • Yep. I do this nearly every month.

      • Cool, must be just about due again then, Thanks. :-)
