10% off Apple Computers at JB Hi-Fi

560

As Dick Smith is unlikely to be offering 10% off Apple products anytime soon, JB Hi-Fi are starting to muscle in on the market with 10% off Apple products until 17th January 2016.

if you consider Apple's free softwares, it is so cheap. iMove, iPhoto, Pages, Number…..
Everything you will use in daily life are included. They are not the most powerful in the market, but all of them are decent and user friendly.
In Microsoft, there are nothing can be compared.
I bough my Mac book pro since 2012, it updated to latest OS freely and still supported by Apple.

"In Microsoft, there are nothing can be compared. "

You cannot be serious? In Windows you have thousands of free software you can use to do all those things and many are open source. Run along now sheepy
        Windows 10 was free. Yolo

        • +10

There are 1000s of free software for every OS, many open source.

          @cakesy:

There are far more in Windows, though and most don't even have OSX compatibility.

        • +1

          Not taking sides here, but…

          Windows 10 was free. Yolo

Kids don't use Carpe Diem. Get with the times
Use the words Carpe Diem and you'll probably get called a fgt by the average teenager.

All the Apple computers I own are 2011 and they still run strong

        • Even the ones from '96?

        • @KaptnKaos: well, the 1980's mac i have still works, so do the 2 imac g3

        • +3

I have a couple of windows machines out there that I built around 2008 that are still going strong too. What's your point?

    • -3

      Apple 90% On Sale

    • +1

      Overpriced compared to a plastic laptop? It's $2,299 for a 256gb Retina Pro and $2,499 for a 256gb XPS13. A 256gb Surface Book is $2,949.

      • +16

Yeah the surface book has a touch screen, stylus, can be split and used as a tablet. The Macbook pro isn't even in the same category as the surface book.

        • +2

Oh, now you're bringing facts into it. FUD and stereotypes are more fun.

        • It's also priced $650 higher. XPS13 and Surfacebook are the closest notebooks comparable to a MBP. They are also similarly priced, so why does this make Apple overpriced?

      • -1

Ultrabooks and laptops that are above $2000 from the major tech giants aren't plastic, so shooosh

    • -1

Nobody asked your opinion. Don't comment if you don't have something to say about the deal itself.

      • This is an open forum for discussion. If you object to my comment so much, there's a nice little report button just beneath it. Use it to your leisure.

  • Agree, but 10% off (standard discount) makes it slightly more palatable.

  • -7

I'm pretty sick of people thinking this is a deal when Apple offer 10% off their RRP in store and in their online chat. I'm not gonna +vote it, because it doesn't deserve one.

    • +1

Thanks for the +vote. I always thought that 10% off RRP in Apple Store was for Students / Teachers only?

      • -1

Go in store and ask them. If they say no, ask someone else or tell them you're gonna go buy a Surface from the MS store.
It works everytime I have to buy these overpriced clunkers for the family. Good battery life, though.

        • +9

          clunkers

          lol

        • +1

Not as easy and reliable as walking into a JB and getting the discount without "haggling" though is it?

Also, I can get 7.5% off JB gift cards, and 10% off David Jones who will price match this, so unless you can haggle 20% off, this deal would be better for me/some.

        • @theguyrules:
          okay fine. They're not clunky

        • Do you have any evidence of Apple offering 10% in-store ALL THE TIME?

        • @cDNA: That doesn't make them clunkers… what.

        • @solidice:

          Go ask yourself.

        • +1

          @sb944:
Care to share how/where we can all get additional 7.5% off JB and 10% off DJ's Gift Cards?

        • @savemore: 10% off DJs gift cards is accessible through the entertainment book.

        • I have previously and was told they are not permitted to do so.

        • @savemore: Not for everyone unfortunately, it's through my works reward program.

However, at least 5% extra could be had if you can get the Woolies/Big W/Coles cards at a discount, and buy JB gift cards with those.

        • +1

I've had Apple price match Jb HiFi on a sale through their online chat in the past for a macbook air. They verified JB as an authorized apple reseller and sent me an invoice. Apple also do free tracked delivery so that was good.

        • +1

@Neilgero:yep can confirm Apple direct matched jbhifi and even allowed customising of the machine, which JB do not allow with 10% discount offer. Really fast 4 day shipping through TNT(when you consider is customised).

        • @51kabunka:
i cant confirm that that they allowed customization because i did a straight match of the MB Air that was on sale at Jb

        • +1

@Neilgero: Sorry i meant i can confirm that Apple store matched, and even allowed customising. Got an imac retina w/upgraded graphics card + I7 w/ 10% off around 8 months ;) ago

  • Guys. This is big.

    • +3

      Thats what she said…..

    • +1

No, BIG is when you add 7% discount egift cards to it, then TRS it.

    • What is?

      • This is … ;)

        • Nah i've seen bigger

        • @Izefyre: THIS ..? loll

    • I don't think 10% off is big because we get that discount from time to time again. Even now with Dicky Smith has gone.

      • I guess it really is difficult to portray sarcasm over the internet. 2 negs :(

        • You need to use emoticon like :P
Just like you have used :(

  • +2

Officeworks typically always* have a discount on Apple computers.

A couple comparisons vs OW standard price and JB Sale price - 5% off at Officeworks I guess.

    • MacBook Pro with Retina Display 13-inch 2.7GHz 128GB | OW - $1,799.00 vs JB - $1798.20
    • MacBook Air 13-inch 1.6GHz 256GB | OW - $1,664.00 vs JB - $1661.40

Not on ipads, would have been handy as the kids need them for school next week.

    • +8

seriously? schools require iPads now?… if i knew this i wouldnt have had 3 kids.. sh*t! .. there goes the deposit on the Ferrari ..

      • +3

My brother's school requires an iPad as well and books are now in PDF. One parent complained about this during a parent and teacher's meeting and another parent responded with.

"If you can't afford an iPad, don't send your son to this school". :(

        • +3

whaaaaaaaaaaaa …. that for real? .. i'm an android phone user and the android tablets haven't been that great (my kids use my hand me downs) .. DSE had that ipad mini sale thing and i got one .. and to be honest just personal opinion so please dont go nuts apple ppl.. i find it even less impressive than the androids .. lucky i didn't pay much so id be pretty damn annoyed if i had to fork out $600+ for them x 3! ..

        • +6

Why does it have to be an ipad? Any shitty $50 tablet can open an ebook.

        • @cDNA:

School is under Apple education or something. They get a discount if they buy an iPad through the school as well.

There are also some books required to be purchased from iTunes.

All computers are macs as well.

        • -1

          @coffeetoma:

I'm going to avoid sending my kids to any school that is partnered with Apple. I want my kids to learn using Linux and Windows.

Reading off an ipad for long periods gives me a headache and I don't want my kids to have to endure that. I suppose it's gonna be hard to find a private or selective school that still teaches with a pen and paper.

        • @cDNA:
You got negged by an Apple fanboy.

        • Ewwwww

        • @coffeetoma: even i am macs

      • +1

Yeah all kids starting school is advised to have a portable device. Wonder how long its gonna last. Gonna get lost, broken or stolen.

    • +1

Is the iPad on the school list? If it is then try to price match it at Officeworks for its 20% price beat. (Obviously not against this JB Mac only offer.)

  • +2

    Still overpriced.

I Pricematched office works for a Macbook pro 13" retina 256gb 2.7ghz for $1650 delivered.

    • +1

@catalystic that's a great price. Mind sharing the receipt?

      • Sure - here it is

        http://imgur.com/NS8EM8A

        • Sure it is the retina version? Receipt doesn't say

        • @shesaidshewas18:

Positive, It didn't say it on the office works website either until i clicked into the product it said it in the description.
Then gave them the model number of what i was looking at then yeah. they did it.

I price matched topbuy.com.au at first they said they wouldn't then i got put through to their manager and said it wouldn't be an issue. - I did do this via phone.

          http://imgur.com/AK9X5dp

        • @Catalystic: Looks like you got lucky. The topbuy website clearly says the product is sourced from overseas (grey import). Officeworks generally wont match the price of a grey import.

        • @djsweet:

Yeah i did get lucky - but a manager / supervisor approved it after the person i spoke to said they wouldn't.

        • @Catalystic: Definitely got lucky - good price though. I know in the past Officeworks Customer Service for me has been pretty S*$# honestly. Had two cards knocked back - once because OW declined it, secondly the lady over the phone couldn't take my details down correctly. Even when asked if they could price match if the price did go up - it was a maybe.

        • @golferpat:

Yeah it happened to me, i originally had it priced matched for $1500.. great price.

commonwealth card got declined - as usual only with office works.

Called the bank and they said a lot of fraud happens with office works so the security team has to manually approve it and have to call up again and do another order.

        • @Catalystic: Thanks mate, really nice. Any idea if OW will do the same offer if I show the receipt?

        • @shesaidshewas18:

I'm honestly not sure - maybe call your local one / online and quote the invoice number i was given.

        • @shesaidshewas18: The non retina version never had a 256GB version. It doesn't, however, say which year it is.

      • Just wait two months for the new Macbook Pro 13.

        • Doesn't mean it will actually be released in two months.

        • @Catalystic:

          Yes it will

        • @cDNA:

          Prove it.

        • -1

          @Catalystic:
Look at the release dates in Australia for the past 6 Macbook Pros. You don't have to worry, because you have a macbook already. Don't discourage others from waiting a mere 2 months.

        • @cDNA:

          June 2012 - Feb 2013 - Oct 2013 - Jul 2014 - Mar 2015 - May 2015

        • @Catalystic:

What's your point? I was correct. Macbook 15s come out after Macbook 13s.
Seems like you're mad because your laptop is about to be superseded.

        • @cDNA:

Why would i be mad? Work paid for this laptop - I'm not out of pocket for anything.

How are you correct? 2 months is March, the dates fluctuate - these are the release dates for the 13" not the 15"

    • WHat's the RRP?

      • On office works it's $2250 i believe.

        I got a $600 "discount"

    • You had a great deal! JB price is $2,064.60 (including 10% off). How did you pricematch to $1,650? From a previous JB sales?
      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/laptops/apple/ap…

  • Will JB Hi Fi and/or Officeworks order in a customised Mac? (Looking to upgrade to 8GB of RAM on the 13inch Air)

    • No. Customised Mac's are only from the Apple store… =(

Best savings for laptops is still salary sacrifice if you're working or studying.

      • Damn, I'll still get the education discount

        • But the 8GB of RAM is usually a stocked configuration at the Apple Store, so if you ask to pricematch they usually will give you 10% off at the Apple Store and they've got them sitting there ready to go.
Its only really true BTOs that you run into any problems.
