Medium to full-bodied, the finest shiraz yet made by this maker marries meaty evolution of flavour with a deep core of pure, vibrant fruit. Deep aromas of blackberries and dark plums underpin complex, funky notes of animal hide, polished leather and wet wool. Its smooth, supple palate marries intense fruitfulness with gamey, cedary oak influences, pliant fine tannins and a lingering spiciness. Despite its complex development, it has a long cellaring future. Drink: 2024-2032; Rating: 95 Points; Jeremy Oliver Wine Annual
Seductive from the first sip. Slippery smooth. Shot with herbs and spice. Cherry-plum flavour offset by notes of game, smoky oak and earth. Has a boysenberried freshness. A clear cracked pepper note. Elegant but with more than enough power, texture, interest. Drink By: 2027; Price: $45.00; Alcohol: 13%; Rating: 94 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion
Tasted this a couple of times and come up with the same score both times, a few months apart. There’s a slight gamey dryness but in all other respects it’s completely seductive. Smooth texture combined with a heightened pepperiness; it’s not always a great combination but it works well here. Cherry-plum and boysenberry notes get the flavours humming, with game, smoky oak and earth characters giving an impression of complexity. Elegant but textural and interesting. Alcohol : 13%; Price : $45; Closure : Screwcap; Drink : 2015 - 2026; Rated : 93+ Points; Campbell Mattinson; The Wine Front
