        • Actually one more thing, apart from bringing things closer is there any other reason (people mention bokeh) that you would choose this lens for over kit lenses?

        • @Jackson: No IMO especially when most kit tele have VR/IS and this Sigma doesn't.

        • One thing to be aware of on the 50-250 STM is focus breathing. Not a great lens for shooting small things reasonably up close. Definitely not a macro lens. Bloody good though.

          Have you seen this:

Keeping spare batteries near your body for warmth seems to be the number 1 tip.

  • The Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Lens For Canon Mount. Can it be used on a Canon 700d?

    • Yes, it can be used on a Canon 700D.

Canon APS-C cameras do have internal focusing motor. It does not actually matter in this case, because this lens has and uses its own focusing motor (so the Nikon mount version works on all Nikon DSLRs).

  • got excited, then noticed "IS" :( i dont have a tripod…yet

  • could someone please help me. will the Nikon mount Sigma 70-300mm fit on my Nikon D3200 ? sorry not really good with DSLR camera but love to have 70-300

    • +1

      Yes, it fits

Bought this same lens from Ebay for around $112 for my apprentice.
He just got his first Slr recently (a canon dealio on ozbargain) it came with a kit lens but wanted something to take photos of his mates surfing.
I thought this lens would be pretty good in a bright light situation like that.
I tested on my camera and it was pretty damn sharp.

For a hundred bucks you can't go wrong.

    • Thanks for the user vote!

  • Giving it a go. I don't do sports, mainly free-held & tripod.

    Thank you OP.

    Ta.

  • Good price for this lens but a terrible store to purchase from. My Manfrotto tripod and head which I ordered from DCC took about two (2) months to arrive. Emails were not responded to in a reasonable time either. I will never buy from this store again as they do not act professional, I rather get a price match from somewhere else than have to deal with the headaches this store put me through.

Good luck to those who have purchased.

    • Bought via Paypal, so hopefully will be ok. If not, they do have that guarantee. I don't care the time-frame.

Thanks for the head's-up, though. Good to know.

OP: I am interested but more interested to Sigma 70-300mm APO DG Macro. The APO model is better. Can we get a sale price for this model?

    • Hi OP / Store Rep: Can you offer special price on APO model?

  • Haven't got a dedicated macro (only a barrel extender) or tele photo lens so I thought it was worth having a shot for $100. I look forward to trying it out.

  • Thanks for the update Store Rep!

  • Worth buying the 2 filters on offer? Seems like a decent price.

    • Turns out I already have a UV filter. Any chance on a ND/PL combo?

  • Thanks OP. So I can come and pick up the lens today? I got no confirmation email still.

  • +1

We will update your order status & send you an email when your order is ready for pick up.

    • Thanks OP. Email received & picked up already plus scored a Hoya UV Filter for $20. Very nice!

But I kind of disappointed that you actually do not have a store front, only pick up/warehouse. Luckily I lived nearby, so no issue.

      • Glad you're happy with your purchase.
Our new owners operate a large online focused business & closed our retail store during the acquisition.
We still offer pick up for orders & are continually working on ways to improve our business & service our customers.

        • What is the ETA for Melbourne Metro? Thanks.
