  • Whats the normal price?

    • No normal price on this one it's one of the Special Buys, similar to what Aldi does.
Looking at other sites you could pay well over $300 for a similar spec lawn mower.

So the normal price is $300.

  • Hmm, buy with discounted Gift Cards to get it for $217.55, or wait till Monday, with discounted gift cards, to get it for $195.80 :)

    • Be careful waiting until Monday, these friday night specials can often sell out over the weekend

That's really not that good :/ the Rover I bought is 5yrs, and you'd think they should warrant a B&S motor for longer…

    • rover probably have a service centre with a mechanic. these are brought in by masters and they probably don't want to service them either refund or exchange. and that liability stops after 12 months. it's not a reflection on how long the B&S will last more just how long they want the hassle of supporting the product from the service desk. masters and Bunnings aren't mower stores that have a mechanic in house. master is part owned by lowes so they would be leveraging a deal done by their American office I suppose.

compelling price compared to keeping my Honda 160 going but the Honda is Ferrari red so mows faster.

after seeing how Woolworths stuffed up dse, I hope at least with masters they sell it to lowes when they realise they have no expertise in hardware …… be nice to see more lowes product lines in Australia and a real competitor to Bunnings, lowes in the USA are enormous and their buying power would bring some interesting products to Australia.

Briggs & Stratton engines are brilliant. Just clean the spark plug now and then. However I would never go to a soft catcher again. Just my personal opinion.

    • This is an modern chinese made B&S with OHV, essentially a copy of a honda motor. I dont think they will be as maintenence free as the old B&S designs… not saying there bad. It will probably run smoother etc than the old ones. But the warranty is 2yrs for a reason. You might not get the simple designed longevity and parts support that an old 375 or 450 series motor would enjoy.

  • It will be interesting to see what Bunnings counter with… I don't see an off-brand 18" in their line-up.

  • any idea if this is 2 blade or 4 blade?

Can we take this for a spin on the Philip Island track?

  • "… when you compare it to this smaller one from Bunnings for $279"
That is now reduced to $225.

It is good to see a Masters-Bunnings price war again.
I'm hoping they will come up with good prices for a cordless pruning/reciprocating saw.

    • I bought this one last week and it was $179 in the Bunnings catalog :) Not bad for the price! :)

  • The Bunnings mower engine is US made.
Is the B&S engine in this one US made also?

  • I have never had a mower with a material bag before - do they last well? I'm imagining maybe a year or two until they wear out?

    • They sag with the weight of the grass which unbalances the mower. They get heavily soiled and not easy to clean. But reasonably durable - I think that I got 15 years out of mine before it fell apart. Meanwhile the mower was still going strong, but I then had no catcher :(( Mine had the US made B & S. I am not mechanically minded, however I was able to maintain it well, and it was brilliant!

      • You should have been able to source a replacement catcher bag.

      • Doesn't sound too bad, but imagine it could annoy me after a plastic cather. Thanks.

  • Not so great compared to past deal:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/167987

Was half the price (less with coupon), hard catcher, much better warranty, still starts first pull every time. (not like the old 2-strokes)

Sure, the B&S motor has better spare part supply, but who is going to be doing major repairs on a $200 mower?

    • even a replacement motor is more then $200 …… so you would need to be a mower enthusiast to repair it.

doesn't mean it's a bad mower or motor, just what we think our time is worth if we need things serviced……. drop off . go home. go back to pick up. go home. well there is a day of my life gone.

  • This vs MGS Briggs & Stratton 40cm 125cc Lawn Mower…which one is better?

  • Also available through Masters on eBay for $229. Free click & collect. Be alright if you had an eBay discount voucher or credit.

I went to have a look at one of these - it has a solid bar blade and the entire rear section where the catcher connects is made of plastic. Rouse Hill Masters still had about 10 of them on the floor. At the end of the day I just got this mower - https://www.masters.com.au/product/100408759/tpe-48cm-4-stro… for $539,10 after the 10% discount - There were two of them left on the floor at Rouse Hill (They are on clearance). Original price $846.

    • At that sort of dollar value, how come you didn't go the Honda?

  • Thanks op, purchases one. One thing to note that on the website it says briggs and Stratton, but none is mentioned on the box..any idea whether to confirm it's b and s ?
