Great price for a great set of BT speakers.
Sony SRSX55 Portable Bluetooth Speaker - $173.80 @ VideoPro
Great price for a great set of BT speakers.
$298 @ HN, $299 @ GGs
the seller is sneaky. As Sony promotion runs, the X55 should come with X2 speaker for free. But they sell the X55 and X2 separately.
Not sneaky from what I can see. They sell the bundle
@Spackbace: The SRSX2 is supposed to come free with the purchase of the SRSX55 until 10/1/16 or while stocks last. May be they have run out of promotional stock of the SRSX2.
Ah gotcha. Still though, they're doing the bundle, for cheaper than others are doing for just the SRSX55…
@Spackbace: Sell the bundle??? Sony has two different models which are X55 and X2. As the Sony promotion runs, if ender consumer purchase the X55 and will receive the X2 for free at same transaction. However, this seller sell the X55 and do not give ender consumer the free gift X2 from Sony.
not strictly straight-up but they're absorbing the cost of the promo freebie to sell this cheaper.. to be honest, who really wants an X2? i'd rather have the dirt cheap X55…
@maxall: sounds like the seller is giving the consumer the option… if you only want the X55 you can have it for the price of just the X55. if you want X55 and X2 you can have it for the price of both. Basically taking away Sony's attempt to increase sales volume of X2 by giving you something you don't really want. Given the X2 is selling on ebay from private sellers for between $45 and $100… it seems like Videoprp are doing you a favour!
@braddsey: That's not how it works though. A retailer can sell the the SRSX55 at whatever price they want, but being a participating retailer they are supposed to supply you with the bonus item.
This happened to me late 2014 when DS weren't issuing, nor advertising, the relevant bonus Sony promotional item. DS claimed they didn't have to offer the bonus item because they were selling the original item at a heavily discounted price. I contacted Sony and they contacted DS on my behalf. A couple of weeks later DS posted out the bonus product.
@unity1: I guess it comes down to the semantics of the T&C's of the promotion then…
*Terms and Conditions: Offer only available to Australian residents who purchase a Qualifying Product from a participating Sony Australia Authorised Dealer between 30/10/15 and 10/01/16, or while stocks last. Eligible claimants will receive one (1x) BONUS Wireless Speaker (Model# SRSX2B) valued at RRP$149 instantly at point of purchase when they buy a Wireless Speaker (Model# SRSX55B). Sony will not be held accountable for an eligible product that is out of stock during the promotional period. The promoter is Sony Australia Limited (ABN 59 001 215 354) of Level 3, 165 Walker Street, North Sydney, NSW 2060.
Perhaps Videopro aren't participating in the promotion - if you go from the promotion page (http://www.sony.com.au/microsite/summerwithsony/) to "find a retailer" there are 2 Videopro retailers listed. So it's possible that online sales, or sales from their other stores are not participating in the promotion. This would allow them to sell the SRSX55 + SRSX2 bundle, or the SRSX55 alone without being obligated to provide the free SRSX2.
Either way, it would be up to the buyer to take the risk, and then try and force them to also give the SRSX2 or contact Sony and raise the issue.
(obviously i'm just playing devil's advocate here… it makes little difference to me either way… seems to me Videopro are offering a great deal for anyone whether you want just the X55 or X55 + X2. fighting them on this point would probably make them withdraw the X55 only from sale after the first person successfully challenges them on the deal).
@braddsey: Videopro have both retail stores and their online store.
Videopro online are participating as they had a Sony bonus deal posted only a few days ago https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/227999.
If someone wants to take up the matter with Sony they probably will receive the bonus too. As I said before price is irrelevant. DS were selling the item concerned for about $220 below their normal price, which was less than half price, but they still had to honour the T&Cs of the promotion.
Good deal. Unfortunately bought the BOSE Soundlink mini 2, this would have good bass too.
Anyone know how this compares to the Bose SoundLink Mini II in terms of sound quality?
This review says the Sony X55 kills the Bose SL Mini II, but then again, the Sony is much larger….

How much are they normally?
