This is now my favourite app on my iPhone.

  • Get app… but one question… how do you get rid of the keyboard after you have opened it on the iphone?

    • The top right button that looks like an eject button closes the keyboard.

  • Is this like Jaadu, but you can control other computers and your own from anywhere?

  • Is this different from LogMeIn?

  • Just came to know TeamViewer is already used by more than 60,000,000 happy users worldwide :)

Heh, I was wondering why an iPhone app was getting so many positive hits… so I thought I'd try it myself, and yup works pretty well (over Wifi at least - be interesting to see how well it works over a 3G connection).

  • Now all u need to do is hack your friends computers so u can freak em out :D

  • Also vouching for the quality of this software (works well on PC)
Don't have an iPod/iPhone, but I dont think anything else comes close to this for remote desktopping.

    • LogMeIn not as good?

  • Oh. Awesome. Now customers can expect me to log in and fix their computers while Im sitting on the crapper..

  • Fantastic! if only I hadn't given my Touch to my Dad :(

  • Works very well over 3G with a 3GS.

I'm not sure yet, but logmein (free) might be better for managing a batch of computers (family and friends say). You can log into the website and there is a list of computers and it shows if they're online or offline.

Does the free version of TeamViewer have something like this?

Edit: The answer is yes :)

    • Yes TeamViewer offer all that and alot more in addition.

      • I know the ID number remains the same for each PC.. so you can favourite them.. but does the 4 digit PIN number change each time you run the program on the PC ?

I am just thinking of remote access to my home PC. Do I have to start the program in the morning, make note of the PIN number (for that day/session) so I can log in remotely through that day ? And the next day it will be a different PIN if I have rebooted the PC or restarted the TeamViewer application ?

        • You can create a permanent password that never changes.

@rickb: And you can create a user login with TeamViewer, and add the PC to your "partner list". That way you can tell when it is online/offline, give the PC an Alias, and much more. Similar to logmein. This is what I was wondering yesterday and have since found out. All this with the free version.

          • @rickb: Yes, you can reboot the machine with the permanent password as well

  • thanks for the freebie. easy to setup even for a noob! but pre tell, what's the benefit of this software? ie what would you need to access from somewhere else?

It seems like your home pc needs to be on at all time to access from the iphone?

    • Well there is the File transfer which you can use to retrieve a file, or even just look up on something which you might wanna see, like a phone number, address etc etc. And you can even write an email remotely and do almost whatever u can do while u r at your PC. I think its quite handy.
And I tried the presentation mode, it was really good, you can show other people what you want them to see on ur desktop and hide other stuff. Also, the VoIP is very good, in addition to the video conferencing. I think its an overall quite handy application, and we can make quite use of it :)

  • Do you guys also know that you can login from the "Weblogin" on the Teamviewer website and you can access your PC from anywhere, all you need is ur user name and password. This means, you can access ur home PC from work etc if you have to, which is pretty cool :)

The thing about logmein (Ignition) is that it costs $34.99!? whereas this is free…

    • Yes, but I was wondering more about functionality / features. I got logmein (Ignition) on a sale for about $17 I think. Only need so many such apps. LogmeIn (Ignition) is really useable on the iPhone too - nice interface and approach to remote control etc. I got TeamViewer Free though, just in case. I see they have a very expensive Pro version as well.

  • It's like Jaadu but only for PC, so pretty useless.

    • u can use it on mac as well…
