Probably because its 5000K and they can't get rid of them.
Prices went up according to google cache:
Any coolwhites??
Whats your definition of "cool white"?
Theses are 5000K:
https://clearance.brightgreen.com/product/d900-led-downlight…CFL or tubelight, white light not the color of halogen or incandescent
Any deals on the D700+? They seem to be the new perfect downlights (low output angle, adjustable).
Why not just get the D700 curve which are on special and an adjustable gimble? 10.5W 720lm and tru-colour. For $24 I think its good value.
https://clearance.brightgreen.com/product/brightgreen-d700-n…Thats what I did to replace my MR16's and got the DR700 to replace the GU10's.
i used the Nichia MR16 type at $19 and pretty close to 50w halogen for colour, brightness and spread.
i would have got the D700 but at the time they were about $50 each and i had 20 to replace…..Ah, laziness I guess. Easier to just use those that plugs straight into a 230v socket when you're building a new house.
The D700's do plug straight into a standard socket. It's the DR700 that are retrofit.
Woh, but shipping is $22 flat rate. Is that right? Seems exy or is that normal?
It was free for me.
seems exy
Was that intended?
It was free for me… But I purchased 44 d700's
Looks like shipping is free when you purchase is more than $300.
Wow these are expensive compared to Costco. Are they that much better than the cheaper LED bulbs that go for $3 each?
Any new install units will be much better than the retrofit bulbs but are still well overpriced.
In the early days of LED lighting (5 years ago?) Brightgreen were the bee's knees and the high prices were justified.
Today prices have come down significantly and you would be crazy to spend more than ~$25

LoopLou, you are comparing the price of SMD to COB lights. SMD give out a more intense light by using a diffuser, which created more glare. The COB LEDs will give you a more directional beam angle, compared to the SMD where the light is all over the place.
COB lights are still expensive. The D900+ is usually $119 which I think is a ripoff, but for $45 is very reasonable for COB, plus you get 7yrs warranty.
They are pretty good. I have my house done in the 55 degree warm whites and I love them.
Take a look at the specs.
Brightgreen D900 has an expected lifetime of 70,000hrs. The Phillips 14w LED bulbs I picked up for $18 only have an expected life of 15,000hrs. The warranty is also good. Can google some reviews for these and you will find (led benchmark i think it is) rated these highly in terms of color accuracy. The 3000k (warm whites) were the closest to halogen level colors available. But that was a year ago, so something else might be better now.
Compared to the 3000k Phillips bulb I brought… well I went back to bunnings and picked up another cool white as Phillips need to put some work into their warm white. Way too orange.
I put a mixture of D900, D700 and D550 lights in my new build. Yep they were exy but I can't fault them, they are brilliant(!) and they had a warranty extension deal at the time so I have a mixture of 10 and 7 years warranty (3 for transformers).
I initially stared replacing my MR16 globes with a number of different cheap versions (sub $5) and couple Brightgreen D700. I was still using the old transforms except for the 2 x D700's. Some failed really early on. I finally decided to replace all of mine (26) with these Melec D13 Multi's. Have been extremely happy with them so far. Have 3 colour settings to choose from (White, Neutral White, Warm White). Paid about $30 each (no transformer required, they plug straight into the power sockets in the roof)
Just an extra note. Ended up getting some for my folks too, to replace their 20+ year old downlights. Found Bunnings had a HPM Conversion Plate for $9 that went from 90mm up to 175mm. Fit perfectly. They had some of the very old fashioned downlights with the big globes. They did need sockets installed in the roof as their old lights were mostly hardwired, but the changeover was very simple.
Thats a nice one, no need to deal with transformers, like to get something like that for my house as transformers keep failing.
Yeah, there are a lot of different versions out there. I was just recommended those by a friend that works at an electrical wholesaler. Another friend who is a sparky used the Pierlite ones. Quite a few options out there
my leds are cheap chines made, lasted 3 years but now failing, 6 failed out of 40, and its not compatible with my dimmer switch either, so time to replace them as a group.
current holes are 70mm, i need to find a transformer less one with 70mm
@dreamzz: I got mine from CNW. I see Melec have the MR1072 which says 72mm. I'm sure there are other options too :)
@Grubsy: mr1072 need a transfromer. i will search
@dreamzz: Sorry mine technically have a transformer still, but it's part of the cord from the light to the plug
@dreamzz: There are no 240v leds, they will all have a driver. Some of them still be all in one unit some will have it on the cord between the led and the socket. I think its better to have then separate so that the heat from the led is not going into the driver.
where did you get it?
are these lights comes with a transformer? or brightgreen led's require a transformer or can i connect them directly to the power socket? some of my existing leds are not working, either lights gone or transformer gone. so wondering if i buy these can i replace with transformer and light together?
These are all compete units, driver, plug and led.
Except for the D700 which is a retrofit unit
Nope the dr700's are retrofit units, the D700's are complete units, just the ones that are on sale don't have a gimble. You can get adjustable gimbles for a couple of dollars if you are doing a new install. So that would work out to about $26 for a complete unit for the d700.
Why is the D900+ cheaper than classic? I thought it was supposed to be the flagship.
