  • i was browsing in the store today and saw this bbq as well.
    however did not consider it

    • somewhat i did not like the lid.
    • it did not have a flat cooking plate.
    • the side burner seemed not strong enough to handle heavy pans/pots .. but they are all my personal exp.

but at this price, it is a steal

      it is a steal

      pardon the pun

Something like this from Masters is another option. Particularly if there are any 10% or 15% off coupons…

  • For those who want a pizza oven at a nice discount* (*subject to inflated RRP)

Materials in the provided pictures look a little cheap.

  • Under the burners it's galvanised in the firebox, not stainless ….. this rusts out after a couple of years while the exterior stains steel and vitreous pairs survive.

If you can stretch the budget , check out the Char Broil infrared bbq at masters, the BBQ galore infra reds are still $1000+, the master ones are $699, and they also follow the ebay 10-15% off deals,

After owning an infra red bbq, I will never go back to normal burner bbq ….. cooks the ticket juiciest steaks and no flaker ups regardless of the amount of fat.

    • Have a look at any Kamado style BBQ if you are ever in the market again, so versatile. Since we got one a few years back our Weber sits collecting dust.

Use real charcoal and it lights in minutes, burns next to no fuel and everything tastes great. Can do 200F low and slow up to 900F tandoor style oven. Plus easy to clean and you just open the vents then at maximum temperature everything burns off.

      • the tandoor has me interested …… tandoor chicken is expensive to buy but should be cheap to make …… wanted to try one of those bunnings chimineas as a tandoor ……

I'm just going to wait for weber to go on sale. Still some time till Australia Day

    • get a hot air gun from bunnings, lights the weber real quick …. sold in outdoor section as "dragon" bbq ligter, sold in tool shop as heat gun, sold in paint section as paint stripping gun.

but the weber is an oven, not a grill …………

I don't think this has ever been off promotion. $299 is more like standard price.

I was going to buy this on the 28th dec.
I was told it was out of stock Australa wide ( obviously not entirely true ) and no stock till June. Suggesting that you call the store before going in.

I purchased a Weber instead from a different store and happy with the purchase.

This is quite common for BBQ's Galore. They use these cheap prices to bait you to coming in then give you the full up sell treatment on their other products with a higher margin.

yeah …. he said 50% off a "stainless steel hard waste collection" type bbq, I asked if they can do 50% off their infra red bbq …… he said they don't discount those and it's RRP.

  • Bought one Christmas Eve so it's hardly new, still in box so can't comment, they do this price once a year.
Moving soon to place without built in so will work for 2-3 years until full man station plans come to fruition.
Get what you pay for really.

    • They have been flogging this at $299 since October.

  • Bought this BBQ from Bunnings about a year ago, from memory it was on runout for about $130. Assembly was a bit of a trial. Have never used it as the BBQ I bought in 1997 that the new one is supposed to replace refuses to die!! Spider and ants have found a good home there in the new one and the baseplate has started to rust. OzBargained again!!

    • Are you sure you got exactly the same one?

I thought Bunnings and BBQ's Galore and Masters all stocked their own brands so they dont need to price match each other?

      • Actually we're both half right. Mine isn't an Alfresco but a Jumbuck in a near identical design. It did come from Bunnings.

        • If you got the $120 deal on this one about a year ago you got a good price

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/169857

It looks pretty much the same except your sides (wok and other side) are black metal not silver. Same with cabinet doors.

Suspect same metal, just yours black and this new one silver

        • @GreatWhiteHunter:

I got one of these last year, for $119, it's a bargain.

  • This has a stainless hood, but the rest is vitreous enamelled steel I think.

Highly unlikely… it'll amost certainly be powdercoated.

  • Guys I'd appreciate some advice.

I can either buy the "Alfresco" from BBQ's Galore for $299 as per my posting

Or I can get the Bunnings $419 Jumbuck Forum for $299
    http://www.bunnings.com.au/jumbuck-stainless-steel-4-burner-…

Or I can get the Kmart Jackeroo Bayfair 6 Burner FOR $299
    http://www.buckscoop.com.au/deals/jackaroo-stainless-steel-6…

or I can get the Masters Red Centre Deluxe for $290
    https://www.masters.com.au/product/101709895/red-centre-delu…

    Suggestions?

    • Hi mate, I would give the Jackaroo a go personally. seems to give ya a little more bang for ya buck.

  • +1

Please dont buy this bbq. Its garbage and seriously not even worth close to 299

    • Can you explain a little of the reasoning here?

I am not doubting you - just wondering why it is so crap?

  • +1

On my one the powder coating or what ever it was supposed to be changed colour as soon as liquid touched it and stayed that way. The printed marks around the gas knobs ( the high and low ones ) wiped off on the first clean and i mean wiped strait off. Started rusting around the bolt holes whilst on a veranda where it had never been wet.Wheels fell off. List goes on. Absolute bottom of the line.. Garbage IMHO.
