  • For Xbox One controller and Windows 10 only I believe.

    • +16

Nope, supports Windows 7/8 since about 3 weeks ago.

      • Really? I can't find any information about that and I am not upgrading to windows 10 anytime soon. Please share a link about supporting windows 7 & 8

      • Didn't know that either.

      • Thanks for the heads up Porthos! Only reason I haven't bought one yet is because it (used to) only worked with Windows 10.

        • No worries mate :-) I upgraded my HTPC to Windows 10 as I only use it for gaming and media, so figured all the privacy and crap with Windows 10 wouldn't matter too much, I had always planned on getting the wireless receiver for the controller (previously used a 360 controller) and saw it was only supported by Windows 10 so ended up having to upgrade.

They did make it a bit quiet that they were supporting Windows 7/8 though..

  • Not a good review

BSOD, driver issues. Otherwise its plug and play
For BSOD and mt7612US.sys errors check for new driver update in one of the posts at the end. http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_support/xbox_on_windows_support/…

    • +1

One review, pretty small sample size.

      • +2

Thtas my review. They fixed the BSOD issue with the latest update.

      • Have had no issues with mine.

  • ive been using one of these last month. works flawlessly 100% recommend. Just wish they would release the Elite charging pad in australia

  • wish it supports 360 controllers too

    • Just buy the whole controller with adapter for an extra 5 bucks, of you just want the adapter let me know, I could use an extra controller on it's own

You are in Sydney and he is in Melb. Long distance relations dont last ….

  • Hopefully express post works for you. I guess holidays played up a bit with sending it but only received details two hours ago that it was being processed after ordering three days ago express. Might sit on this and order in a couple of days once my first MS order arrives (if it's still available).

  • Can you use the 25% off gift card for this?

  • What's the cheapest you can get the controller for, anyone know?

  • Thanks OP, exactly what I was after. Even on eBay they seem pretty pricey.

Oh, shipping wasn't express. Free standard shipping but express was $8.95

    • Express shipping says $8.95 but click on it and it's free and will be added to your discount not the total price!
So, yes, express shipping is free! :)

      • Doh! Didn't realize that. Ah well, I can wait. :)

    • Express is indeed free.

You just have to wait a few seconds for the page to update. I just tried it for two items in the cart (wireless adapter and wired X360 controller) and express is still free.

    Does

  • +1

What type of games do you play to use this? Racing?

    • +4

      It only works with Minecraft

      • With a bunch of registry hacks you can get it to work with solitaire too :D

    • If it's similar to the way the 360 controller works with pc, you should be able to play all steam games that have controller support.

    • Rocket League

    • Just cause 3, GTA v haven't tried flight controls in star citizen yet.

  • How to get the 10% discount code mentioned in the OP?

  • I picked one up a couple weeks ago. Can confirm it works fine with Windows 7 and is generally a pretty good upgrade from the Wireless X360 for PC.

    • I heard the shoulder buttons are kinda crappy?
Any other benefit? I know there's new rumble trigger tech but virtually nothigng uses it, what about normal rumble, is it stronger? buttons more responsive?

      • +1

I think it's an improvement on every aspect. The controller is comfortable in the hand. The rumble is different but I've never gone in noticing it.

Computer shops like UMART are usually selling the wired version (which is just the wireless version with a detachable micro USB cable) for around $50-55 which is decent given that the idential cones will be sold for $70 at EB.

      • +1

I'll share my thoughts hopefully it'll help someone.
Yes, bumpers take a little getting used to. Did for me at least coming from the the 360 controller. To use it comfortably, you've got to roll the middle joint of your finger to use it with the end of your finger on the trigger. Won't take long getting used to though.
Buttons are more or less the same, the dpad isn't like a snes as I was expecting. Best way I can describe it, is that it clicks when you press it fully so it isn't incredibly smooth.
My 360 controller was getting a bit old and the joysticks were getting loose so it warranted an upgrade :)

        • Regarding the bumpers, the behavior will differ somewhat depending on what version of the controller you have. I have three controllers I got back in 2013 with the console and on these ones you can't press the trigger on the half closest to the middle of the controller. They're designed to be pressed on the outer edges (thus why the finger roll technique gets mentioned) and they sort of hinge from the middle. Newer models (I think since they added the 3.5mm jack?) redesigned them so you can click anywhere and it'll register a press.

I never had any issue…I'd hit the buttons in the same location on the 360 controller anyway but I know some people that hit the buttons closer to the controllers centre had problems with the design. I think that's probably sorted now anyway, at least it was on a friends Halo themed controller as well as the Elite one I got this xmas.

Anyway I prefer the Xbox One controller to the 360 and I think later revisions of it has addressed some of the initial concerns some people had with it.

        • They fixed the bumper issue in the new revision (the ones with the integrated headphone jack). You can now press on them anywhere and they work 100%.

  • Struggling with the Microsoft store tonight - will not complete transaction on either mobile or PC using IE, Firefox or Chrome! :(

    • +1

do not use paypal. didn't go thru in my case.

      • yes, paypal payment method for some reason will not let you complete the transaction.

        • Paypal just worked for me.

    • PayPal won't work if you have enough to cover it in your PayPal balance. Microsoft only allow PayPal credit card purchases, which is damn weird.

  • Just used PayPal to complete my order without a hitch.

  • I got one of those USB Wired ones. Do the other ones you normally buy come with a battery pack? or is it standard to just use AA batteries.

    • +1

They use AA batteries, unless you buy the "Play and Charge" version that has the NiMH insert and charge adaptor. Or you can buy a "play and Charge" kit separately I suppose.

      • Awesome! helps answer if getting one of these is practical.

      • I'm fairly sure the play and charge kits use a lithium ion cell.
I seem to remember seeing a bunch of ****heads arguing that eneloops were better because of the higher mAh like they'd never heard of voltage or something.
Also that they only have 500 recharge cycles, that sounds like lithium to me.

        • You're right - it is Lithium of some form.

Just measured one of ours, and the voltage (no load) of the sealed pack is 3.98V

One MS site said it is Lithium Ion, even though the pack itself states that it is 3V (1400mAh).

More info (but don't buy off this link)

        • +1

Don't know what the X1 version is like…but the 360 Microsoft battery packs were total arse. They wouldn't last longe bfore you had to be tethered to the console. I bough eneloops and a charger and have never looked back, and with this deal my X1 pad I use for PC won't be wired much longer!

  • The website is OUTRAGEOUSLY laggy and slow (like 10-20 seconds to process each screen) and that caused me to waste even more time hitting "back" and "refresh" to try and make something happen. So, you need to be patient (easier on PC as you can see page load status to at least some degree).

I just paid using Paypal and it worked.

I also grabbed an XBOX ONE MEDIA REMOTE, as they get good reviews and we will be using the Xbox as a replacement for dedicated media streamer (eg: WDlive).

    AU$22.46 incl. GST (was AU$29.95) save : AU$7.49

  • If I pair my only xbox controller to this wireless adapter for pc will it unpair from my xbox one?

If it stays paired, does it prioritise the wireless adapter over the xbox one so that the xbox doesnt switch on?

    • Buy first, ask questions later.

    • You'll have to pair it back to the Xbox/PC each time you switch between them IIRC.

  • Does anyone know any good newish games that are split-screen or like 2-player friendly for the PC and 2 wireless controllers can be used? Most console games remove the split screen function when the PC version is released :/

    • +1

Not really new, but I'm pretty sure Blur has split screen. It's a modern street racing type game with some mario kart elements.

    • Sportsfriends! (3/4 of the included games anyway, JS Joust doesn't work with PC sadly)

    • +1

Sonic Sega All Stars Transformed. Pure gold

      • Thanks that looks awesome!

    • I found heaps of games on this channel too https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHDBuReCvFq_oSMCPmPHwwQ even black ops 3!

  • Awww, I bought this a few days ago at the same price but with free standard shipping. Could have gone express. Oh well, maybe I should track the courier and chase him down.

  • Many thanks.
Now if only I could get my hands on the Elite controller, for a reasonable price.

  • +1

Thanks for the post. I came for the adapter. I stayed for the Play & Charge and two Chatpad preorders.

  • FYI anyone who's interested, MS use TOLL as their courier. I ordered the wireless adapter and the play and charge kit to have the wireless experience for my PC gaming. Really wish MS built a rechargeable battery INTO their controllers already ffs.

    20 + 22 + 55 for controller from PCCG = $97 for a XB1 wireless gaming experience on PC

    • +5

Really wish MS built a rechargeable battery INTO their controllers already ffs.

No you don't - because then, like for an iPhone or any other kind of inbuilt rechargeable, you have a massive hassle when it dies.

The X-Box system that takes AA as a backup is much better.

Also, if you wish you can use 3rd party batteries and chargers, which might be (but usuallay are not) better quality.

Anyway, if people want a rechargeable Xbox controller, then BUY ONE (rather than the cheapo AA version)…

      http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msaus/en_AU/pdp/Xbox-One…

      • I was disappointed that mine didn't have the 3.5mm jack and the improved triggers :(

      • Totally. The only thing I'd ask for is a cheaper price. Having the battery removable otherwise has zero disadvantages and many advantages such as the ability to cary spares, AA's or replace the battery when it inevitably turns to crap.

Half the batteries for my 360 became close to useless after seven or eight years, so thank heavens they were removable.

  • Anyone susessfully price matched with JB? and what's the 10% off code?

  • Thanks, grabbed one. Been looking at these for a while.

  • Damn, asked my local JB hifi if they can price match the play and charged kit and the guy said no. That was brutal.

    • damn ill try i have a gift card that needs using

  • Anyone know the maximum number of controllers 1 dongle can connect to?

    • +2

      8

      • Nice. Thanks

  • Do yourselves a favor and grab it now, JB wont price match, especially against Microsoft (the wholesalers), they are barely making a profit on them at all so dont blame them.

  • Toll couriers suck. I live 30 mins away from the delivery depot and it hasn't arrived today despite the ETA being today. My status is still at 'FREIGHT PICKUP'. 'Express post'.

    • orders placed after 10am are dispatched the next day, according to the info over at microsoft site.

      • I ordered it two days ago, and it shows that it was picked up last night.

        • oh ok, thought u ordered it today because u posted in this deal.

  • Thanks OP, have been watching the price on these - grabbed one. ^_^

  • +1

Careful your cc doesn't have an international transaction charge. I paid with amex as the site was in AUD and the checkout process did not mention any surcharge - but was charged a $2 international fee. Very sneaky of Microsoft.

    • not sure why you got charged with a fee.

  • Been waiting so so long for this! Thank you OP!

  • Bought one thanks, but still frustrating that this is considered good value at $20.

  • +1

If you have an Xbox wireless controller, you don't need this?

    • +1

lol that's actually funny. But this is for people who want to connect it to their PC's. That's why it says 'foe windows'

      • I have an Xbox controller that I connect to Windows.

        • yeah but that's wired, this will make it wireless.

        • @Ryxxi: no it is wireless…

        • +1

@congngo: Yes but you have to plug it into your PC with a usb cable ..There is no other way.
