Optus E5251 Mini WiFi Modem + 2GB Data $14 @ Kmart, BIG W & Officeworks (Normally $49)

350

This is about as cheap as it's ever been, and comes with 2GB data. Called a few Kmart stores and it's a national deal. If you're calling a store to confirm stock, quote barcode 9317493000587. I've included BIG W as a reminder, as it's in their current catalogue. Enjoy :)

  • stupid question……can it be used os, viz indonesia?

    • If they are unlocked like the Vodafone ones I wouldn't see why not.

  • How many hours do these last for? I use an android phone and it only lasts around 5 hours before it requires recharging again… If I use my normal phone, i'd run the battery dry and be unable to call.

    • +1

they last about 5 hrs normal use, if you use your phone to tether it(phone) will last longer due to wifi instead of using its own sim card

      • Thanks, I might get a spare one of these because they are probably lighter to carry around.

    • I think it only lasts for four hours. I need to turn it off when I don't need it.

    • use a powerbank to extend run time;
eg, recharge it every 3-4 hours with a "50,000 MAh" unit.

Maybe it's this cheap because they are phasing out 3G modems to 4G… just maybe

  • hmm, it's only 3G

These have been this price at Big W for a while. The original price was $49 then down to $25 and finally to $14. They were $7 during the weekend sale a few weeks ago when all Optus devices were 50% off.

Why didn't you post it last time? Sometimes ppl missed it in those 50% off sale

      • there was a post when optus had 50% off and these were for $7

Tempted to buy but may I ask how it is compared with the R207 from Vodafone (9$)? I'm confused by the different models from Huawei

At Moone Ponds K-Mart this device is available from last 3 4 weeks. And there is Telstra portable hotspot MF60 white, availabe at $7 with 2GB data for 2 weeks.

  • Plenty stock left at Knox City S/C Kmart as of 27.12.2015.

  • Can anyone confirm if they're locked or not?

  • does the data last 15 or 30 days?

    • +1

      included 2GB is 14 days.

  • TA's Mad rush impulsive buying. I would say guys, do you really think buying an old 3G modem worth it ? I'm sure many already have smartphones who can use them to tether internet. Think twice or more before going ahead with it.

Got one of these from BigW when it was on sale for the same price few weeks back. Combined it with $10off on my Woolworths rewards card offer and got it for $4.

I can confirm it is unlocked and worked with my Amaysim.

    • Have you tried anything other than Amaysim?

Amaysim run on the Optus network so it wouldn't stop you from using them.

I was in an impression that Amaysim runs on Telstra network. I don't have any other sim with me at the moment to try.

        • Amaysim runs on Optus

    • Thanks. Updated post.
