Samsung Galaxy Note 5 64GB - $993 ($918 Via AmEx & Welcome Code) @ Harvey Norman

40

I was so pissed when I missed that Bing Lee $764 deal for a 64GB. Hadn't seen anything before or since under $1k for a 64GB. And with no Micro SD slot I think you need 64GB with this phone.

Harvey Norman have the phone for $993

If you pay by Amex and pre-register you will get a $50 statement credit

Finally if you register for their newsletter (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194595) and purchase online you will get $25 off immediately making the price $968 upfront with a $50 statement credit to bring it down to $918. Not $764 :( but the best I've seen apart from that, and with Australian warranty and also covered under the Australian Consumer Law warranty (more info here: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-06-07/broken-but-out-of-warr…)

  • Perhaps just wait till after boxing day or the new year for another special ?

Likewise I missed the $764 deal as I couldn't make a decision quick enough.

    • I still wonder if it was a pricing mistake. I know some people got it but a lot had the dick smith issue of a successful click and collect and then being told they couldn't fill the order (grrrr still pissed about my missing kindle!)

      • Fairly certain it was genuine and only a select few perhaps missed out in that regard.

Life is too short to be upset about missing out on items.. There is always something better around the corner. ;)

        • Yeah I wasn't putting it into the tricky dicky category :)

I was more annoyed I'd been looking for ages (well weeks but that's ages in this world) and finally pulled the trigger on a 32GB from Android Enjoyed for more than this as I couldn't justify the extra for the 64GB.

I should have cancelled the Android Enjoyed order as 2 weeks later still hadn't been sent. Ended up cancelling it anyway when I found out their actual shipping policy was nothing like what they put on the web.

You're right - always another deal around the corner!

      • I got it and had no issues, not even comments or looks or so… at all, they rang about pick up within 24hrs but I only picked up the day after… gorgeous phone (moved from S5), nano sim is the only hassle and as a bonus I will claim my GST back since I fly out next week ;

        • I'm going from an s5 as well. Surprised how little it is bigger in physical size to the s5.

        • @tonydav:
yeah, I used to like smalish phones coz they easily fit into a pocket but realized that nowadays the 5.7" note size is probably a standard ;) haha

  • If anyone is interested in more info re the ACL Choice did a test of how many retailers understood it here:

    https://www.choice.com.au/shopping/consumer-rights-and-advic…

I've had first hand experience with a store in Parramatta - qCare. They understood it 100% and replaced my daughters iPhone5 under the ACL even without a receipt as the serial number proved it was only about 20 months old. (This was a year ago).

  • +1

I bought my Note 5 off Bing Lee for $814 :D

Definitely get the 64GB version as I was thinking of going 32GB but with no expandable storage 32GB would be too little especially recording 4K and putting on music.

"With no micro SD slot" I'll just skip this gen and wait for Samsung to realise we want a micro SD slot for Note 6.

    • im hoping as well, however im not sure if thats going to happen

  • Have you or someone bught this deal— cos the T&C states that Phone orders are not applicable.
Have you got the cash back? Im interested in buying the Samsung Galaxy note 5. Thanks

  • I have. Amex e-mailed me saying they'd credited my acct with $50. Haven't checked though.

  • FYI for big screen Samsung fans.

Galaxy S7, rumoured to come early (could be out in Feb rather than Mar / Apr)
    2 sizes, including 5.7, 5.8, 5.9 or 6.0 (not sure)
    POSSIBLE microSD slot.
POSSIBLE larger battery than Note 5 (they don't need space for the pen)
    Likely Android 6 on launch
    Camera, slightly better
    3D Touch screen, possible.
    IR Blaster, maybe.

If you like the pen, Note 5, but otherwise the S7 sounds like it's fixing all the dumb decisions with the Note 5.
I'd avoid the Note 5 like the plague

    • 2 sizes, including 5.7, 5.8, 5.9 or 6.0 (not sure) that's 4

      • Sorry my post doesn't read too good, there's very very likely, normal 5.1" plus a larger, the larger size is unknown, rumours range from 5.7 to 6.0"
Total 4 models, Regular + Edge and Large + Edge
