Tempted to buy it but I can't find details on the HDD.

In terms of performance where do these rank in comparison to the WD External HDD's (I have a 4TB which uses a WD Green).

Also even though the special is bigger with the 6TB HDD (percentage wise). There's a big pricing difference between the 5TB & 6TB. Even here in Australia (it's around ~$300 for the 5TB and ~$430 for the 6TB). Is there a reason? Does the 6TB use faster or newer drives?

    • I think it is the ST5000DM000 (5900RPM, 16mb cache). I think I prefer the 5900 in seagates to their faster ones, especially for backup.

  • Might be the number of platters

Just be mindful that it comes with a U.S plug. Have an adaptor ready for use.

    • would this work with our Australian voltage? thinking about buying one.

  • 5TB expansion is $219 at Officeworks. This is a great price if you can wait for it.

  • Does anyone know what drive is in this 5TB version? I bought a couple which I will remove the HDD and put into by Drobo later on :)
