  • Huuuge TV. Wow. Would the input lag be terrible on this? Thinking of using it as a gaming monitor :O

    • -7

      That's not a huge TV

      • -1

Agreed - not sure why so many neg votes.

It would be a huge computer monitor. And given 55" is the most popular/average TV size now - 65" is a "big" TV.
But I reckon 75" is where "huge" TVs start - given you can get 80" and 90"+ models.

  • EDIT - Sorry should have read the post better

standard 3.3% cashreward gives you another $28 odd back

    • lol
I already included the 3.3 in the description. Is it 3.3 off original price or of discounted price?

      • apologies. this is a great deal. I got the final Panasonic plasma model about 16 months ago on sale at bing lee for $1200…. if only i had another room in the house for this to go in i'd snap it up.

        Ahhhh i getit…. 3.3% is included within 15% - yes that makes sense :p

      • It's off the original price.

The ultra hd and smart model you link to is $1998 not $1750?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Hitachi-UZ657000-65-UHD-Smart…

Allowing for 15% off $1998 AND 3.3% cash rewards, that is under $1700….

    • Apologies its 1698.30

      • +1

It gets bloody confusing with 2 different discounts and people quoting discounted and undiscounted and partially discounted prices :)

        • Sorry about the confusion i hope the update clarifies that :)

          @maverickjohn:

          Yeah Mav all good.

My comment is more a general one that applies to all these similar posts using EBAY % discounts, cash rewards, etc - you have people quoting discounted prices but when you click the links you see a different, higher price. They often dont explain the logic behind their discounted price (eg. did they apply 1 or many discounts) and sometimes they make mistakes too…

    • Nice edit ;)

  • No bing lee in melbourne :-(

  • Yea there is no bing lee in victoria or queensland so only select people can get it :(

  • It is a pity this is pickup only for big TVs - they are one item most people would prefer be delivered.

    • Wonder if you could pay for it, and then organise delivery. Even if they charge you another 30 or 50 bucks, you're doing alright.

  • jbhifi has it for $999 which is still a great deal

  • Some comments here about same product give a quick review indication. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/223073 Not great but I guess still good for the price. I've not seen this TV personally. Was tempted but think I wont buy because of these comments.

    • It's not that great in term of screen quality, especially the colours are always "Bright" I try to fine tune what ever steps in the menu, still so "bright" compare to my other 55" Samsung and Panasonic.

The remote control comes with TV dead within 1 week, got a free replacement from the company anyway.

Menu was not smooth but acceptable, maybe need update but never tried.

In terms of price, it's overall good value but wont consider as a replacement for my other smaller size TV.

I would primarily only use it for PS4 and Netflix, I can't imagine being too much worse than other TV's for this purpose

    • +1

Not recommended for games, as you will encounter lag

      • Is there evidence to support this?

        • Was told by one of the reps at jbhifi

        • +18

@hullas: "Ah.. yeah, that one will have lag… have you considered this more expensive model that I also know nothing about?" - Every JBHiFi rep

        • @pthurgood:

          Well actually, not true!

The only comment was you notice a lag when compared to other big brands, depends on what sort of games you play also.

He told if that is your range you can buy 50-55 in any big brand and would be better than Hitachi for playing games.

          Sounds like an honest suggestion.

        • +1

@hullas: JBHIFI's spec sheet has a response time of 6.2 ms

        • @hullas:
Plenty of "big brands" that have lag for gaming, brand has nothing to do with it. Just a salesman doing what he does best.

        • @Gururek:

          You can use rtings

to find something as per your need.

          Based on video, game etc.

It wont long before 100 inch ones will be on ozbargain the way things are going

  • Do we know the screen refresh rate?

  • +4

The sweet spot viewing area of this is on the outside of my house…

    • +1

You brought this TV for your neighbours? lol.

    • +1

Heh. Are you going to buy a smaller TV or a bigger house ?

  • +2

Have this, terrible sound, need to use sound bar or surround with it. But overall good for the price.

  • Since when isn't Hitachi a big brand name? Even compared to Sony and Panasonic they are big… probably same size as Sanyo or Mitsubishi…. Japans biggest heavy industry company?

    • Since they probably don't make their own TV's anymore.. (or so i've been told). Just rebadged/software TV's?

edit: haven't really read into it further. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/world/hitachi-ends-tele…

      • Yea I was reading about that but most companies do the same thing?

        • AFAIK… Samsung, LG, Sony… are the most genuine TV manufacturing brands atm (in that order). But that's just a guess.

        • @hypie: add sharp because they use there technology in there tvs I am sure sharp makes TV them selfs they are stilk made in Japan also but they are expensive

        • @aussieprepper:

Sadly if they do, you can't get them (Sharp) in Australia anymore anyway. Sharp was a panel manufacturer before, so it wouldn't surprise me if they still manufacture in small quantities.

To give you an idea, The Hitachi UHD 65" and the Aldi (Bauhn) UHD 65" are both imported by Tempo. They run the exact same software/firmware and are pretty much the exact same TV. Except the Hitatchi retails for almost double. Hitachi might be a big brand, but their tvs are no different than the other cheap chinese units.
