Thanks for your information mate! I nearly made a mistake with Dick. Anyway it would be canceled by Dick by some dicky reason.

    • always wondered what happened to JVC, They used to be popular with VCR's and the old tube tv's

    • +3

Yep, a lot of the solid old schools brands sold their names (souls)… I was eyeing of this JVC tv during the sales but took into account that fact…

  • +2

Pendo from Officeworks is bigger & cheaper

    • +1

That is Scary, I only buy Brand named TV for my main now. You look at them all day, so you want reliability/and energy efficiency. My current LG TV 47" only uses 32watts in Low power mode. Runs on Off Grid solar setup.

  • +2

If big and cheap is just what's sought after, then as post above 55" can be had for $499. So not really a good deal I think.

Anyone had the Pendo and could comment by the way?

    • +2

Yep, have the 48" and it's running fine

  • +4

For those playing at home, here's what they're referring to:
    http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/pendo-55-le…

I don't know how the compare tbh. Read reviews on both (1 of those Pendo ones is a doozy!)

    • Yikes!

If you want a TV to last longer than 5 months then Pendo is a brand to avoid.
      Warranty claim -
Pendo may ask you to send to an IT company in Melbourne then you get a phone call that they cannot fix the TV. No, they will not send it back to you if you had the idea of getting someone local to fix it.
      Replacement -
No, Pendo cannot replace these TV's as they have none in stock to replace with.

      • funny thing is even Samsung tv's only come with a 1 year warranty now,

          ACL

  • I'll give you $209 and not a cent more.

    • +9

Done! I take payment by Western Union

      • +1

        Bitcoin?

        • If he changes his mind about the extra cent, shotgun!

  • +1

Jvc quality is worst than dick smith branded tv.

  • +2

For an extra $350 you can get this 65" - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisio…

    • -1

Over 1.5x the price… Totally comparable lol

      • Unlike this TV it's the cheapest for its size so I thought I'd mention it.

        • Umm ok

          Here's the cheapest 60"
          One of the cheapest 24"

Maybe we can start a list

        • -2

Good idea, too bad you were being sarcastic. We can also make a list of not the cheapest, starting with this one..

        • @Ryballs:

Awesome, maybe you could post it up as your first non-dupe deal post!

        • +1

          Meow.

        • Comments like these is why I don't post deals..

        • @Spackbace: good idea bro

        • -1

@Ryballs: you've been hanging around Andy too much.

I saw that Hitachi in store this week and was pretty impressed with the picture quality. Certainly bang for your buck there!!

I've got a 50" JVC from DS from their 70%off sale for $200. Probably wouldn't pay $600+ for it. Looks good in HD. Sound is average

  • Cheap & big, can't complain! That's what she said ;)

  • Why would you buy this rubbish when you can get a bigger screen for cheaper

  • Ive bought the 40inch and it is ok. Much better than the Big W brand (Viano).
One small issue is that I bought a soundbar, but I cant put it directly in front of the TV as it will block the remote sensor.
    Any ideas?

    • periscope?

    • sit the TV on a small platform to rise it above the sound bar?
      I used old phone books.
the sound bar will hide the books! ;)

    • I got a Viano 40" and I prefer it over the JVC

  • wonder how many of these were snatched from dodgy employees!

  • +2

Hahahhaah… called the Cranbourne store today and got the same answer I did on weekend.. DS does not and never has sold JVC … I dont know where your getting your information.
Im getting it of the website.
Salesman said Thank you and hung up.
A big Phoooooey on DS an all its dodgy advertisements and claims.
So when they finally get sold as the degenerate company it is I wonder if Mr Dick Smith could buy it back and build it up to the respectable company it once was under the Smith family name and control.

  • +2

JVC and DSE homebrand made in same factory

The TV's that are manufactured in the same factory as the Dick Smith DSE house brand and the Dick Smith JVC branded products.

    • Interesting read.
      Has anyone compared them yet?

      • Yep, the 32" are the same, they are also the same as some earlier model Kogan TV and we all know how bad they are.
I bought a JVC 40" for $53, and its really not worth owning at all if PQ means anything to you.
Even this unit in this sale is only 50Hz, come on, its 10 years old Tech
Some people have also returned this TV because of lip sync issues, which could not be resolved.

        • 53 dollars? Man I thought I got a bargain at $150 David Jones :(

        • @mmd:

9.30am on second day of sale, just lucky i guess or unlucky, depends which way you look at it.
I thought i was lucky, until i got it home and turned it on, then Googled to find its just a Chinese Generic TV, sold to how ever asks.
Yep, i too learned this week that JVC is not JVC anymore :(

  • +1

These TVs are pretty bad quality. We ordered this exact one, and it came with a huge gap between the casing and the top edge of the screen, which meant you could see the backlight shining out.

I wouldn't bother, this isn't the quality product JVC used to be known for.
