Can people please update the thread as they bag some bargains today at Dick Smith

DO NOT boast and write stories of what you got and where and how you got

Make it simple

Just List the item - Price (If possible the product code- you can find in the receipt or the ticket)

Prices are going to be same at all stores

This will help people to just go for that item instead of trying to scan 100+ to get 2 or 3 at a reduced price.Do not post any comment other than product and the price.

My local store has so much stock but asking them about the sale, the prices have only been reduced slightly. Nothing like what is being listed on here.

  I found the guys at the mitchell centre really helpful with whats on sale and whats left. Showing me the product listings on the computer and price checking items for me.
  On tuesday it was the slightly built young fella brown skinned and softly spoken and on wednesday it was another young fella, white with the beginnings of an afro type haircut.

Ive spent over a thousand dollars this week there on about 30 items all for christmas and birthday presents none to be resold. So Im having a day off there today.
Hoping tomorrow is the big one if they restock the store but i think it will only be on clearance items.

  Sure there were some real stand outs, but not many of them.

  Gerry has just as much old stock lying around in his stores and clearance centres, but it's irrelevant to them as HN is a glorified real estate holding company and they have enough assets that the amount of distressed/aged stock that DS is clearing is nothing to them.

I got an ex display Samsung galaxy note n8000 10.1 for $129. It was a display model and I'm regretting it. It's quite old tech (2012). If only I could get the tab s 8 inch for $149. I'm giving it as a gift but because it's a display set it looks pretty rugged. Should I return it??? not sure if it was good value. .

      I think they would sell it in the store I bought yesterday.
      One think about my note 10.1 is it doesnt come with the power cable, and the note cable is quite rare, I think I have to get it from ebay. DS doesnt sell it.

      @SoShy: oops didn see ur comment. Tab 4 and tab s is quite different. Tab s has a great display, better than iPad Air 2 imo, and feels really luxurious. Try and get the display 8.1 S if you can.

  Can also give their card to a mate, mate comes in and asks for it, they bring out and the mate buys with the employees card. Plenty of ways around it.

See the ex Dick Smith Store's mgr's comments on this. However thought they could track easily using employee ID. Or other way is to make it one item per employee.

Impression is that mgt don't seem to care as long as items are being sold.

  I'll elaborate more on what I said in my ama thread - Staff wouldn't and are not obligated to scan their discount/staff card for these deals. I'd imagine they'd just pay cash (not traceable at all unless a manager checks CCTV and let's face it that would never happen) or card (would be traceable but only if someone is looking and knows the full card number due to PCI compliance).
  
  Consequences would probably be a formal warning rather then termination but I highly doubt that any of the staff would face it anyway considering the management just want the stock gone. Maybe if they'd recieved formal complaints about it if it had been observed but even then I doubt anything would come from that.

Got a Nikon D3100 ex-display model for $149 (last one) yesterday, but I have no idea about cameras and Im giving this as a gift.. a quick google suggests that its a good entry level camera which is exactly what the person Im giving it to needs.

So I think its a good price, but also its a couple models old now. Should still be good right?

Also since its an ex-display, its rather quite dusty and a bit of glue/gunk left on the bottom when it must have stuck on for display. Any good tips for giving it a clean? Too scared to damage it! Was thinking dabbing a bit of warm water or even glue remover, but worried about it!

  Anyway for those we are interested in Samsung Galaxy tab s 10.5", I went to 3 ds stores and they were all out. One had the display set, which I wasn't very keen on seeing as the battery probably smashed by the constant recharging for at least a solid year since its release. I managed to score a new tablet at the move store, but had to pay $80 for the 4g version. Managed to reduce the cost by using the Dse gift cards from Coles.

Can I write a big Boastful comment if I didn't find any bargains ?

I visited 3 DSE shops yesterday and today and saw nothing of interest !

I was proud of myself for not buying any junk I didn't need !

There was one i3 laptop for $299 that briefly caught my attention but when I interrogated the salesperson he said it had been a display model for about 12 months, so guessing the screen, keyboard and mouse pad would have been destroyed from thousands of greasy mitts.

Hope other people are benefiting from this sale !
