Why do staff hold items on sale for people who ring?

On a normal day no problem but when there is a sale like this you shouldn't be able to hold anything!

    • I got told they couldnt as yesterday I rang and they had a 55" for sale, by the time I got down there it was sold (literally 15 min drive) …

  • Bendigo still had no TV on sale. Picked up a HTC one M8 for $209. They still had Note 3 (mid 300) and Experia Z2 (mid 300) for sale. However the HTC One M8 seemed the best buy.

    • I bought the other M8 from Bendigo. Box was unsealed but everything inside was there.

      • Mine was sealed. He swapped it over. You see any other bargains in store other than laptops. I did not.

        • The bloke said there was other stuff on sale but it wasn't ticketed and you had to find what you wanted and ask. I didn't have time to dig around any further than that.

        • The salesman I spoke too said the prices are all listed, nothing else on sale. Guess it depends on who you talk too.
After a portable hard drive, might check again tomorrow, but not expecting anything.

  • Nothing noteworthy at all in penrtih. Was hoping for a dirt cheap 40' TV.

  • Not much in glen Waverley, just brought a braun shaver for 69.

  • Samsung tab s 8.4inch 16GB wifi $149, sony bluray player $29, philips and LG players $49, asus nexus $49 —- stocks still available at 9.30am @ Geelong

  • Went to Northland got there about 9:15.

Plenty of people no coffee machines on discount from what I could see, Staff still putting out lots of tags. Prices pretty much as reported.

    Things to note.

Lots of $1 Move iphone 5 cases, no Iphone 6 though. Still some XBOX360 and PS3 games. Phone prices as advised as well. No TV specials. Lots of TV's including displays had managers special written on them for only like $200 for what I could see. Still a few SLR's in the display cabinet but none marked down. A bunch of toys including remote control cars from $9.95 but nothing of note.

AA Batteries and AAA packs reduced scored a 40 pack of AA's for $8,

Got an ex display Panny 500GB Bluray PVR for $36 and Kaiser Bass TV Samrt Media Player for $30.

Guy I dealt with was really helpful found the box, remote, instructions and all cables etc for the PVR's.

Still have the Logitech ultimate remote there marked for $100

Asked them to scan a Lavazza milk frother but still full price at $50 so no dice on that.

Happy hunting had a nice chat to a fellow OZB who picked up a LG PVR ex display for $29.

    • What Asus nexus?

    • Anymore of the media players left?

  • Anyone know of any PS TVs or Logitech Harmony's left in Vic?

      You are legend.

the staff didn't even let me touch it. It was sitting on the counter desk, the staff yelled at me when I'm trying to read it

    • Excellent. Cheers. When I went they told me there was no new list for today..

    • Thanks for the effort. Seems little if any left worthy of the word bargain.

    • +3

As you can clearly see stock levels are crap…thanks for saving me heaps of time!

    • Note how some of the prices seem to have gone up not down! It a price change list so don't assume it's all bargains or there is actually any stock

    • You're doing gods work, son.

    • Mate you are a god amongst men

Yesterday bought roccat Kulu for $24 down from $80
Saw sennheiser in ear ones for $20 down from $80.

  • as above still one at Northland emporium diud have a few left yesterday if you are in CBD area.

  • The missus was down there and spoke to one of them and from what she found out … there is 1700 price changes on the list, which about 1000 they had no stock of
She wasnt able to get a copy of the list as the manager had it and was running around frantically speaking to people

She moved onto DJ's and they didnt have much either
Only thing she picked up was a Samsung Tab S 8.4 16gb for $149

DS Sydney Central Plaza - manager's been hoarding a lot of the cameras from Tuesday to buy next Monday for themselves. It's somewhere… if someone will balls can threaten to call HQ on him, maybe he'll free them up.

    • How do you know?

      • I overheard conversation between staff closing time that they were hoarding the most expensive DSLRs. Apparently they can’t buy it all now due to policy so they are hiding it somewhere so they can purchase it next Monday. I'm sure a convincing "nudge" and inventory check will get them to release some hidden stock.

        • Can confirm this policy.
Spoke to a Director in person at their head office this week (who was less than helpful towards anything at all) who stated as much when advised there are staff/stores hoarding stuff.
Company policy to fire folks for this shit, so I put it to the Director, that any purchase of cheap clearance items should be screened against emails requesting said items and sack them on the spot if there are.

        • @086:

It should be pretty obvious come Monday if there's a sudden spike in sales of expensive DSLR's given people haven't been buying any for the past few days…

        • @Jinx: It wouldn't be hard to disguise. They could simply get friends/family to purchase on their behalf. Most like this was already done earlier in the sale anyway.

    • Is that the one NOT in the Westfield building across the road? I was there on Monday and overheard same thing, employee there was legit asking the other staff if they wanted him to put some stuff away. He was making multiple trips back and forth to the store room.

tbh though I would do the same thing if I worked there.

      • Call them out on it. They can and will be fired for this if HQ finds out (and PM me if you get to free some stock :P )

i will do the same around lunch time

  • Call them suspect not the only store.

Or go to the store and threaten to call HQ on them.

DSE Victoria gardens, Richmond VIC had a few good deals but the staff have to manually look everything up(but were awesome as we went through all of the deals) and show you on the screen. Got the Nikon L803(XG9271) for $49 and the L820(XG6853) for $20!. Also snagged a Galaxy Tab 4 10,1 wifi only(TA8048) for $150.It was the last of the cameras but still had Galaxy tab stock. Thats my "big ticket" xmas items done. Thank you based Ozbargain.

    • Any TVs or iPads there?

      • Last heard Northland (VIC) Might have iPad mini for $29. But this was this morning.

        • I seriously doubt it

        • Once announced here..it would be snapped up by now..lol

      • No TV's or Ipads. Didnt have many headphones/earbuds either. Was a little suspect as they went to check for sennheiser momentum ($30)for me and 10 seconds later came back telling me she cant find it….im sure the staff are holding onto a fair bit but so would I.

  • Sydney CBD George St sold at least 20 Samsung tablets this morning. Overheard price from $149 - $299

  • Got a swann410kit for 140 from Roseland, not sure if its a bargain though

  • after having no transport yesterday, thought I'd try my luck this morning with the one item I had been actively looking for before the sales - logitech harmony remotes. Got excited at first as found 3 in Marion, but all were the ultimate one version - not on sale, and doesn't have the Rf I need. None of the ultimate hubs left in SA from what I was told :(

edit: can't hurt to ask - if anyone in another state comes across one and is willing to purchase for me, I'd be ever so grateful! Happy to pay postage plus a little extra for your time :)

    • +1

I can apparently get this from my local

      http://www.dicksmith.com.au/logitech-harmony-tv-remove-contr…

Not sure if it's the one you want.

      Edit:
Sorry, I don't think it's the right one

      • thanks, unfortunately that one is the IR version, and as my AV equipment is in another room, I need Rf (I think it's called the Ultimate Home or Ultimate Hub). Appreciate you checking though!

  • if anyone interested…
Cannon 1200d Body only, display unit available at DS David Jones Castle hill for $325.

    • +2

Way overpriced. Got a new one from HN for 300 including the lens almost 6 months ago.

      • I had that feeling… :)
        thanks

  • Grabbed a couple of tablets at the DS Emporium. SAMSUNG GALAXYTabS 10.5 16G 4G TA8063 - $379.00 (Retail $699) and SAMSUNG GALAXYTabS 10.5 16GB B TA8070 - $299.00 (Retail $500)
Pretty happy with the deal. Staff were super nice :)

    • They are not bargain.. same price if you buy from DS online.

      • it's only C&C, can you find any store in Melbourne which has them in the stock?

    • Those Tab S prices are pretty meh :-/

      • +1

How are those not good prices? They are at least half the price of any other store (other than ebay).

  • +4

As usual, managed to obtain the pricing list for today. Couldn't get a photo as this time the store manager wasn't comfortable with it, but he was happy for me to go thru it.

Loads of headphones on sale (bose, bnw etc) , bose earphones. Jawbones are 39, bose soundbars are flying off thr shelf for 399 (originally 1.4k) and 999 (originally 3.3k).

Not much today, was only 8 pages long, seems like sale is almost coming to an end…

    • DSE in DJ Adelaide had those Bose Cinemate sound bars in stock for $399.60 - they told me originally $1.6K. Pity I don't have the cash to burn on it :(

    • Damn I went to Parramatta and didn't see anything Bose related
