  • hdmi 1.4? probably 4k 30 fps yea?

    • +2

Specs say HDMI2.0 and panel is 60hz…

  • damm! I will miss this deal as no aldi stores in wa. However, please help me finding a projector https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/222387

  • Has anyone got a review of these Aldi tvs? Just wondering how they compare to well known brands…

    • +2

Reviews are very mixed. Some hate them, quoting issues with poor image or build quality. Some love them, saying how the image is great for the price and no problems. In general it seems that if you do want to buy one you can, and if you don't like it you can return it and get your money back. A bit of a hassle with a large TV, but more than fair.

    • I've heard the menu system and interface is a bit poor and sluggish, including the screen mirroring, but other than that a decent purchase. Chromecast solves those issues anyway.

      • My non 4K's menu is a little sluggish but I've tried my friends fairly recent Samsung and found the response to be not that much better. I think it's quite exaggerated. It's certainly not press volume up and wait 3 seconds its more like press volume up and wait a quarter of a second

    • Seen too many bauhn TVs being thrown out during the neighbourhood trash dump ..

I would rather just get a well known brand

  • +1

I got the 55" for $799 and I'm loving it, been playing Arkham Knight on pc at 4k 40-60fps and it looks great.

My 55 and this one are the black series, while I saw the 48" they had in store a few weeks ago wasn't labelled as black series, someone previously commented that the black series have hdmi 2.0.

    • How is the input lag?

      • +1

I've only played Arkham Knight on it so far, but not noticeable for that sort of solo adventure game and probably most games, seems no different to my older samsung which I looked up previously to be about 40ms.

I haven't heard of a tv bigger than 32" which has good enough input lag for competitive gaming for time-sensitive games such as FPS, I play Street Fighter competitively on Xbox but always use a monitor.

      • Input lag will be higher if upscaling is involved, or not outputting 60Hz. So make sure your GPU is capable of that. (HDMI 2.0)

  • Aren't Aldi TVs known for their weak tv stands? I remember hearing people saying that their TVs dropped to the floor because the TV stand broke or something.

  • also, do aldi deliver?

    • No

  • For nearly 60" and 4K I think it's a good buy

  • Why would you buy a 4k TV and get a noname brand, probably the same people who use 1080p YIFY rips

    • YIFY rips are good :)

    • Wow, so no name must be bad, and big name must be good yeah? You should just go buy a $100k TV which can cook your breakfast and clean your house.

      • stay ignorant.

  • Anyone with previous TVs of this time comment on how useful/good the smart tv features are on this?

Wouldn't the 4K up scaling on these cheap TV's be quite bad and in fact make it worse than the FHD Tv's?

    • +2

(I've got the 55" 4k black series set from last month.)

Smart TV features are next to useless with these. YouTube is somewhat useful but it isn't even in 4k/UHD. Internet browser is woeful. Screen mirroring ends up working but honestly you'd be better off plugging a chromecast in to it and casting content using that. Built in freeview plus works but make sure all your channels actually broadcast it in your area (regional areas miss out due to a dispute between some regional stations and Freeview.)

The 4k upscaling isn't too bad, but I haven't got anything to really compare against.

As far as actual 4k content goes, I'm still waiting for a mini DP->HDMI cable to arrive so I can test it with my laptop. Also waiting for an NVidia Shield TV unit to arrive but I'm not holding my breath about HDCP 2.2 compatibility. (That is required for 4k Netflix.) I've not gotten a Yes/No answer from Bauhn/Tempo about this, so I suspect it's a "NO".

      • Great, Very useful info.
The Smart TV features is the only reason why I would consider this, but sounds like it is basically useless.
Much rather buy the $~600 Kogan instead.
Personally Going to buy the 48" Samsung for ~700 from goodguys ebay instead, which has a half decent interface from what i hear.

        • My current TV has 'smart' features, but they're pretty naff. I think a better set up is to use an xbox or hook your computer up to it. Some people also swear by chromecast, although I wasn't feeling it so I returned mine.

        • @ilikeradiohead: What TV do you currently have and is it marketed as a smart tv? This is the first time I am getting a smart tv so not quite sure what to expect. Havent used chromecast (something i was considering when the chromecast 2 got released so waiting for it to be available in aus)

Check out the WP reviews for the 55" and 65"

Sounds like it's hit and miss with particular stock and whether you can live with the flakey interface and other oddities.

    Personally, I wouldn't risk it.

  • never buy them - will break in 12 months and 5 days!!

    • +3

To be fair, we've had 2 Aldi LCD TV's.
The first went back for a full refund after 12 months as it had some imaging issues their service agent didn't resolve.
It's replacement ran fine for the 7 1/2 years we owned it and was recently sold to someone who continues getting joy from it.
So what miracle predictive algorithm and expansive data set are you using to determine the anticipated lifespan of these TV's?
Or is it just a bad personal experience with a sample size of 1?

  • Can anyone confirm if this TV has android or not?

    • If it's like the other "Smart" TVs that Aldi has released, no, it doesn't have Android on it.

  • Stay away from Aldi TV. Will honour warranty, but don't want to know you after. Will not guarantee spares even after 17months after bought. Stay away.

  • Free to Air sucks big time. Choppy. Hopefully an update comes out. Threw out the box and can't return it. Will wait for 4K content…

  • This brand seems to be making headlines, far more superior than Soniq, DS and chingchong, it's in the same league as Hisense or better.

    • That's just racist…

  • It's interesting how a TV of such bad quality still gets buyers. Why don't people realise that TVs are a matter of "you get what you pay for"?

    • Isn't that applies to everything?

      • aldi's monarc ice cream compare equally to the higher prices sara lee and conoisseur ones.

    • Do you own one of these TVs?

      • nah. wouldn't be ballsy enough to risk getting a shit one and then having to return it.

    • So you know this TV is bad in quality… based on what?? Your personal experience? Or simply baseless bias because you seem to believe that anything big name or big price tag must be good, and vice versa?

  • So ended up hooking up my ASUS Laptop which has a 840m and setting the resolution to 4K 3840 Ă— 2160. Tried playing a video through youtube and it looks pretty good. Decided to keep it (the 65inch) and wait for 4K content. I assume that the 840m is playing it 3840x2160 and 30hz….

    • I've got an NVidia Shied on the way but I can see HDCP 2.2 issues in my future.

  • So I decided to buy one today (house mate bought one as well). Picture quality is outstanding, a lot better than I thought it would be. Tried the Xbox One a bit tonight, mix of games and videos… While the videos looked great, the display lag was noticeable for FPS games :(. Games aren't a huge thing for me, but I am still deciding whether to return it or not.

If anyone has any questions regarding the TV, feel free to ask.

    • I got one as well. I must be stupid, but can't seem to get 4K working at all in any possible way. Tried every USB device at home (maybe because it's all USB 2.0?) and I know Chromecast won't deliver 4K.

      • It seems the only way to get 4k going on these things is to plug in a PC or media player which can output it in the right format. Ideally HDMI 2.0 as it should support 4k/60Hz.

Be warned though, the set might not support HDCP 2.2 which is required for 4k Netflix. And in the chance that it does support HDCP 2.2, you still need a HDCP 2.2 compliant device (e.g NVidia Shield TV box).

      • I was able to get 4K from the built in YouTube app and plugging in my PC. Haven't tried USB, but I'm not sure if it's supported for 4K content?

        • Are you sure it was 4k from the built in app? I think it only supports 1080p.

  • Does anyone know how to get to the service menu on this TV? Would be keen to see if there are any more settings I can find to make the picture better than it already is.

  • Just bought the 58" at lunch and had to drop it off home, from the 55" / 65" reviews it seems the sound quality was an issue however sorted out with a sound bar, etc. Will update once i get to take it out of the box.

  • Hello,
Does anyone know when Aldi would again sell this product? 58" LED TV?
    Thanks,
    Chandil
