This drop is limited to 2,000 units. The first 250 purchasers are guaranteed a serial number below 300. Due to the natural variation in mahogany, each pair of headphones is one of a kind. The headphones shown on this page should give you an idea of possible variations.

As Massdrop is unable to ship outside of the US, they'll be using a forwarder to get them to us.

Drop goes live at Friday, 9AM EST, which equals to:
* 10 PM Friday in Western Australia (GMT +8)
* 11:30 PM Friday in Northern Territory (GMT +9.5)
* 12:30 AM Saturday in South Australia (due to DST, GMT +10.5)
* 12 AM Saturday in QLD (GMT +10)
* 1 AM Saturday in NSW, Victoria, ACT, Tasmania (due to DST, GMT +11)

    Very tempted…i just wish they hadn't tuned the bass down from the TH-600/TH-900. I'm all for the treble reduction, but I want that sub-bass on the fostex!

    Dunno whether to go all out on a TH-900 and be done with it, or grab one of these with the potential that I'll still want to upgrade to TH-900…i guess I have 27 hours to decide!!!

      Buy these, if you don't like em, sell them for a profit (could probably get 2x the purchase price for em).

      Seriously though, whichever your choice the TH900 is a fantastic pair of cans, though personally not one I'm ready to drop $2000+ on yet.

          Which translates to $1600 AUD…. or about $1900 AUD after GST+Duty you'll pay at the border…. not to mention shipping costs using a forwarder from Amazon because distribution rights prevent them from shipping here….. Sure you could devalue your item to avoid customs costs (you're using a forwarder after all) but then you risk the chance of being out of pocket $1000 should your parcel be damaged by the forwarder.

          So I stand by my original statement, $2000+ for the TH900.

        You probably won't be able to make a profit when you're selling - people know where you bought them from and Massdrop will likely run them time and time again like they do with the K7XX

          Yeah, definitely won't be able to sell for double the price! It will be much closer to th600 than th900.

          The only way one might profit from it is if there is low number of purchase from Australia, and general lack of availability down here compared to overseas…but given they will likely sell these multiple times, that will be limited.

          Anyway, I don't factor resale when buying headphones - I buy to keep. I ended up buying anyway! :)

      I tried both th600 & th900 for a short time and th900 sounded way better to me. I was stunned by the price though!

      This would be a great bargain if the sound is anywhere close to th900 for one third of the price, and the wooden cups…
      Indeed it's very tempting!

        Supposedly these sit somewhere between the TH-600 and TH-900 in terms of quality.. They've also tamed that upper end a bit that I didn't enjoy much on the TH-600… Though increased the mids slightly and decreased some of that TH-900 legendary bass a bit.

        Insanely curious to see how these compare to the other two myself.

    Total changed from 2000 to 1950 units now, and 1346 are ordered at the moment. The drop probably will finish in a day or two by this speed.
