Enjoy your 900P and 30FPS with overpriced games :-P
Havent upgraded my PC in 5 years and my i7 2600, 16GB DDR3, HD7970 still runs everything out there almost as good as the latest tech.
I call bullshit. 7970 was released in US at 22 December 2011. Which means most likely you obtain it in early 2012 earliest.
The card will be less than 4 years old.
the vid card was an upgrade along with a 240gb Sandisk Ultra SSD, either way the pc is still old but doesnt require an update to be usefull.. not yet anyways.
I think you got the PS4 mixed up with the Xbone on the 900p comment.
Your other points are very valid.
Nope, PS4 has plenty of 900p games, Xbone could only wish for 900p, 720p seems to be what it's comfortable running at 30FPS (funny I thought it wasn't 2006 anymore)
@deanylev:
Hmmm I seeWell I have been a console gamer for life but im taking the plunge and im building a new rig. Sick of paying 70+ for games
@deanylev: Like which one? There are very little 900p games on PS4. So far only one that end up being 900p which is Battlefront. Previous 900p games were bumped to 1080p like AC.
@Letrico: AC Unity, AC Syndicate, Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, EA Sports UFC, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Killzone (Only in Multiplayer, still though), Star Wars Battlefront, Uncharted 4 (Only Multiplayer), Watch Dogs
Pretty decent list. I'll be the first to defend Sony where I can, my cousin works for them, but the PS4 and Xbone have absolutely inexcusable hardware.
@britta: Good to hear, PC gaming is where it's at :)
@deanylev: Holy shit it is. I thought they patched the ACs to 1080p. But Killzone is 1080p tho? It uses a different interlacing technology to use two 960x1080 and weave them together similar to 1920x1080 pixels in the end. Still 1080p in the end
@Letrico: They patched Black Flag, not the rest. And while Killzone's tech works well, it's still not the same thing and is an excuse for the poor hardware. Straight from the horse's mouth.
Sigh, I wish Sony had just waited another year, and taken a small loss and then they could've delivered a kickass system.
@deanylev: Yeah didn't notice that at all. I actually played both Unity and Syndicate on PS4 :P.
Well to be honest if they could make sony exclusive games to use that same technique to give 1080p(more like 1080i) 60fps games. I am quite content about it.
I couldn't care less about the technology they use, I just want my game :P
@Letrico: Yeah same, I personally value framrate 10000000x more than resolution. As long as game is pretty enough, framerate takes top priority.

Gigabyte GTX970 4GB Mini-ITX PCIe Video Card PN GV-N970IX-4GD + BONUS GAME
$20 more but its aussie stock.
MSY have that model for $419 but not sure if they have stock anywhere and not sure if you get a bonus game with it.
Check the Nvidia Home Page, bit of a promotion about it.
Annoyingly I bought this card 2 days before the eligibility period, and spent an extra $79 to boot!
Also a slightly worse performer with less overclocking headroom, but it's primarily designed for mini ITX builds anyway so it's fine for its purposes.
Why would you get a mini card? is there disadvantage?
Noob question but is there any performance different between the mini and full size?
I know if they are smaller there will probably be a increase in heat, but is that all?
Any point waiting another week for Black Friday deals?
Apparently Newegg is gonna have a 970 with a better cooler for $300USD, but honestly i think i'd still go local. Also there shipping is like $50 so it's not much of a deal here.
Have to say I have this EVGA card and never again.
Asus and Gigabyte offer far betting cooling solutions. I am very disappointed with this card.
I heard a lot of complaints about EVGA quality since ages ago but they are still quite famous and have a crazy fanbase around it. Personally I'm an Asus guy since I like the colour and the design more but the performance is top notch too.
