90

Edit: 18/11/15 today only: went to collect and got a better deal $549! Overlap today of the $100 off at checkout and the mower is already reduced to $650 in store.

For those of you looking at battery mowers and also missed out on the last Ebay 20% off here is the next best thing.
Kobalt 80V mower RRP: $750 now $649 less 10% (THANKYOU10) = $584.10, less cashrewards/ gift cards etc.

This mower has very good reviews. I wouldnt normally look at Kobalt however It is a rebadged Greenworks:
http://www.greenworkstools.com/80v-pro/commercial-lawn-mower…

Its the same mower as the Victa 80V at Bunnings which is currently $748.
5 year mower warranty, 3 year battery warranty.

As reported by Max2010 on Ebay deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/219048 you can apparently use Victa skins with the battery.

I have just taken the leap into petrol and oil free mowing!
Now I can get rid of the old leaky one from the shed and clean up the oil spill once and for all!

  • HOLY CRAP!

80V! If that's been tuned right, it should be bloody powerful and efficient! I have a little Ozito thing and love it! These really are the way of the future.

And once I show the other half how fun it is, the lawn might be mowed by the time I get home from work. Thats the real efficiency I am after..

I think that the usual approach is to have children, then put them to work as soon as they can stand. That's what my parents did! :-)

      • I think that's what 'ride on's' are for, wink wink

  • price in title please

  • I've got a self propelled Honda which is pretty beefy but too heavy for the small amount of lawn we have.

considering a electric or even a push mover, anyone got any idea how much these things weigh?

    • The manufacturer website states 58 pounds apparently, which is 26kg. Not sure if that includes the weight of battery and catcher bag.

According to the product page product weight is 38.8kg. Steel chassis will add to the weight.

If lightness is important to you, then perhaps consider the Ego
      https://www.masters.com.au/product/101351897/ego-56v-electri…

product weight is 26.2kg as it is all plastic. A bit smaller and less powerful than the Kobalt but from reviews I have read it has better design and build quality.

EDIT just saw Seb's reply, so maybe Master's product page cannot be relied upon. Either way, I doubt it will be light given the steel chassis.

    • If you only have a small amount of lawn with next to no obstacles, the el cheapo corded electrics are great. Can pick them up with a couple fingers as they are very light, and they can be had for under 100 bucks. No petrol, no starting issues, no smoke, little noise, very light, cheap, no maintenance, no cleaning. Small cutting width and you have to use a technique to avoid the cord, but for a small area they are great.

      • Not so keen about power cables?

What about cylinder mower? Like http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/like/281251803928?limghlpsr=true&…

Its only one power cable. Not hard to start mowing from the closest point to where the cable is coming from and mowing perpendicular and away from it. Unless you have lots of obstacles, in that case its no good. You would have to purposely try and run it over to cut it.

  • Wow that looks awesome. 80V!

  • Thinking of getting this or the EGO, not sure which way to go as I'm waiting for more reviews on the Kobalt. What I've seen on YouTube looks promising. The only disappointment is the mulching attachment, it doesn't mulch fine enough, leaving large cuttings on the lawn. The two batteries are a plus though, and so is the included rapid charger. Anybody bought and used this mower yet?

    • I'll try out tonight on sir walter lawn and let you know. I'll give some honest feedback for you as I love my lawn :-)

She is running beautifully. My 2 year old sat and watched in peace while I whipped through 250 sqm in no time. Sounds like a mellow vacuum, much more peaceful noise than our Dyson let alone a petrol mower..
