Prepaid credit cards like this often comes with heaps of fees and charges. This one is no exception, in fact, it's fees galore.

    For example:

    • Value loading fee - Bpay —> $2.00
    • Value loading fee - ANZ Merchants —> $3.45
    • Monthly Service fee —> 2.95
    • ANZ Call Centre Operator charged when using a service that can be
completed for free online. This includes, but not limited to, available balance,
transaction history and how to use the Card. —> $4.00

the list goes on and on.

    • -1 based on these excessive fees

    • I think the main buyers of prepaid credit cards will be under 18s whos parents wont let them buy online things. So thus they go and buy their own Credit card

    • Those fees are crazy! Then again much of the target market for these cards aren't the wisest of shoppers/spenders… Good product for ANZ/VISA to make money on ;-)

  • Ahh yes, this fee phenomenon has already started in the USA and I guess it has arrived in Australia.

Lots and lots of fees that eat up your pre-paid or gift card credit.

  • Just had a good look at that site. There's nothing compelling on there.

  • Can I ask what the advantage of one of these things (with all the fees and whatnot) would be over having a regular free visa debit card that students are entitled to at most banks?

    • Not just banks, but most building societies and credit unions — all of which will almost certainly have cheaper, or no, fees.

I doubt whether students will be stupid enough to sign-up for this offer. They're pretty cluey these days.

  • I hate bank fees…

  • My negative's because it's a private business trying to pretend it's a student organisation. This is "OCP Think Marketing Pty Ltd" calling itself Student Rights and talking about VSU on its about us page…all in a scheme to push a fee bonanza card and a "showbag" of ads from other companies.

  • well put

    An article on this http://www.theaustralian.com.au/australian-it/anz-prepaid-pl…

    Shame on Sydney University.

    • This is a different card, I think - that article is just about Sydney Uni making their student cards also function as prepaid Visa cards, it's a deal with a legit bank and (from my reading of that article) the fees aren't way off the planet like most prepaid Visa cards.

Compare that to this "deal", where the card is intended to deceive with hidden fees and misleading ownership. Having a public educational institution basically getting a sponsor for its student cards is lousy but at least it's not deceptive.

  • Anyone notice that the site is down - replaced by one of those filler pages.

Was this site ever legitimate in the first place?
